Adorable old fashion sandwich and malt shop. We had the pimento cheese sandwich and quiche. It was very good. Food is fresh and huge selection of choices. They also have a a yummy selection of homemade pies. I like the old style soda bar for the kids and BIG kids to sit at. Well run establishment with courteous young staff. Delightful stop on our way back home.

I have been coming here every few years for about 20 years now and this last visit was awful. The quiche was bland(ham, cheese and mushroom) and a bit runny… the M&M cookie was not nearly as good as I had remembered for a few years back, and even the fountain drink was flat. Maybe they were just having an off day… I’ll try again next time I am in Brenham, but the truth is they have not been as good since the lady who had it in the early 90s owned it.

The best French dip sandwich! The flavored tea is also really good! If you haven’t yet… try the Sawdust pie. Yumm!

It’s a bit of a buzz– blue bell line is long ! The place is a cute center of town gem — lots of shops around ;-)

It’s the only place I eat in Brenham. Not gourmet, but very good fresh food. The line is worth it. Friendly, casual, loud and fun. I haven’t had a chocolate meringue pie this good since I was a young girl.

Try the Monte Christo. It’s a rockstar of a sandwich. Always great food and fast service. Employees are super nice too!

Great atmosphere! Bring the family for a day visit! Fun and most of their décor is an old time kitchen set up! Everything looks so cute! Place is very busy! There was a very long line that wrapped around the corner, however, the line went pretty fast. Don’t get scared away! There’s so much to see and read when in line. Food was Ok. I didn’t like my chicken salad. Their dressing taste too much like mayo. Despite that, the Heaven Meal is ½ sandwich, side, and a drink for $ 8. Kids meal comes in a cute animal happy meal like box with a sandwich, pickle, chips and drink. My husband loved his muffuletta! Dessert: there are lots of rave about their chocolate chip pecan pie… umm…I didn’t taste any CC! Definitely does not taste like store bought! Taste less sugary. Nothing bad to say about this place! The additional space when you enter is a ice cream parlor! Highly recommend to check out!

Was really disappointed in this place after seeing all the positive Unilocal reviews. When you walk in the place is really cute, vibrant, happy, and has a nice café vibe but when we got in line the staff was the opposite. Everyone seemed tired and overall like they didn’t want to be there. Anyways about the food. Only one person liked their food and it was the rueben sandwich with brocolli and cheese soup. They said the meat was lean and the soup was flavorful. The French dip tasted«off». The vegetarian options, while they had two, were a bit disappointing. Props for effort but it was essentially flavorless. Honestly I wanted to give two stars, but the Dutch apple pie was good even though we had to wait a bit after the staff forgot about us. overall: nothing special and it’s a bit pricey for a plain sandwich place and the restrooms were a little gross.

Consistently good. Love the broccoli cheese soup, and the chicken salad sandwich. I’m thinking my favorite, though, is the BLT. Yeah, it’s a little pricey, but it’s unique. Although, Diane L is right — the Pesto Grilled Cheese is pretty good! OK, Kayla mentioned the Monte Cristo — also very good! And Greg — the muffaletta, yeah… the half order is a LOT! A pretty good«after Church» place on Sundays.

Overpriced tourist trap. Paid about $ 13 for a sandwich that I could have put together from HEB for about $ 2. Portions are small too.

Very good. Very fast. Very fresh. Dont be put off by cafeteria style or the line. Salmon sandwich and grilled cheese. Drinks and fresh fruit bowl and pie under 25 for two. Salmon was priciest menu item so its very reasonable in price. Great staff, delicious pie.

The monte cristo sandwich is probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The chocolate pecan pie is delicious also!

All I’ve had is the muffaletta so far, but had it twice and it is just like those I’ve gotten in New Orleans. To go service is a tad bit slow at times. Haven’t had any yet, but the pies do look fantastic!

Maybe I should have had pie. The menu features sandwiches so I went for a very simple grilled Ham and Cheese. While the taste was ok the meat didn’t fill the bread! For $ 7 you think you’d get a decent amount of sandwich! Very disappointed. My wife had the soup which was watery and bland. The ketchup at the table came out of the bottle brown. We won’t go back unless to try the pie I guess.

Even the half-order of muffaletta is too much, especially if you also get a slice of pecan pie(and you should). Good food in a small-town, main-street kinda place. Their refusal to put other kinds of ice cream on the pie is understandable, but still, not everyone loves«that ice cream company» as much as Brenham folks, who seem awfully quick to forgive them.

This is a cute café, typical of Brenham. The staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean. I got a french dip with a side of chips. Good sandwich, but not omg-so-good. After eating and visiting with coworkers, my friend bought a new york style cheesecake for us to split. It was reallly, really good and seemed authentic!

We loved it! Our sandwiches were great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a nice variety of menu options and great pies to choose from and of course Blue Bell ice cream!

We were here for lunch on a Sunday and the line was pretty long. We had a big group and had reserved the private room in the back. It was a nice sized room and the décor in the room is very Victorian doll house. It was for a birthday party and they even provided plates for our cake that we brought in. There was a minimum food amount that we hit easily. The only thing was that everyone in our party had to order at once. That meant standing in line at once and cutting in front of people who weren’t part of our group. With people arriving at different times, this made it difficult. The food was otherwise okay. The menu consists of mostly sandwiches. I had the French dip and although hit came with tons of meat, it was extremely salty. Like Yumm’s down the street, this place also has a dessert place adjoining. Parking was easily on the main strip of Brenham and having the private room was nice.

So walking into this place is like taking a step back in time. Definitely like the way you feel like poodle skirts and greaser haircuts are back in style when you walk in. The location is heavily dated like it hasn’t been touch since the 50’s or 60’s. The lighting in the restaurant is a little low for my taste but the ice cream/dessert selling side is way better lighting. Super bright. Very inviting. Food is good for quick service. Semi-cafeteria style dining where you walk with your tray and wait for your food. Blast from the past. Portion size is huge. $ 8 for my french dip on what seemed like a 15inch hoagie roll. Lots of roast beef slices and good amount of cheese. Au ju dip was very flavorful and NOT overly salty. Broccoli salad was different. A little on the heavy side being its cover honey mustard dressing with grated cheese and diced bacon. But nevertheless it’s a refreshing change from french fries. Bread pudding is super rich and sweet. If you have the room you have to try. Tons of cinnamon and raisin goodness.
