Traditional country breakfast — very hearty portions including thick cut bacon. Pan fries were yummy with an onion mix on them. Only complaint was the biscuit was pretty dry & cakey. Also, after cooking, the girls in the kitchen started cussing & talking about personal stuff… super loud, kind of inappropriate

Let’s talk breakfast and really cool café. We were on our drive from Houston to Austin(connecting to the 290 from the 105 in Brenham). Cruising slowly down Main St and spotted Smitty’s. Slid the hybrid between two long and tall pickup trucks … like a tofu dog in an oversized meat bun. I think they had just opened for the day when we arrived(Friday morning). Only a group of 4 here before us. Not a vast breakfast menu. Probably because the food is fresh, not a production line. Two eggs, sausage, potatoes, and toast from house bread. side of gravy, of course. I don’t remember what my wife had but it involved fresh fruit, most certainly. Food was perfect. The toast was light; not at all dense. Our server was bright, fun, and energetic. A little punchy and quick, I like that. Not rushed or hurried(ie; didn’t visit the table every 5 minutes and didn’t drop off a check when the food was served. that’s a big deal). This is a bakery, too, and I was fixated on the cookie case. We left with a peanut butter cookie, an oatmeal raisin, and two chocolate chip. energy for the drive. These cookies are the real thing. I don’t understand the mixed reviews. I have zero complaints; staff, food, fixtures, prices. only kudos can be given. I suspect some exaggerations in other reviews about exorbitant priced coffee and slow service. Our breakfast for 2, with coffee, and 4 cookies(to go) was $ 21. If wanting 5 minute(or less) crap food and fake smile service, McDonalds is two miles down the street. Sheesh. Need a restroom, follow the green«Billiards» arrow that will lead you into Smitty’s Billiards ( ) — while in there, hike up to one of the 13 pool tables.

Finally stopped here & happy we did! Nice, clean place with a country ambiance & friendly staff. Mr had the Rueben that he said was excellent. I had the chicken salad sandwich on a wonderful wheat bread. We both chose the homemade potato chips that were thick & crunchy. We’ll stop in again for sure.

Hamburgers are great here — good homemade bun — hard time eating the whole thing — and absolutely fabulous onion rings — chicken fried steak good but hamburgers the best

Would leave no stars if I could! We walked in, as the sign on doors said OPEN Tried to order and were told they were closed so they could get ready for tonight! Tonight is the Christmas parade! SMH

Was driving through town with the family. Stopped in for a cup of coffee, asked for 2 cups they charged me $ 7 for 2 cups of generic coffee… Seriously? I don’t even want to know what they charge for there café/bar food!

Stopped here for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Absolutely fantastic hamburgers! I liked that you could order a smaller size(essentially a half burger) because their burgers are huge.

When I go to a place that considers their«home made bread» to be amazing, I expect to have the tasty bread in my sandwiches and /or burgers. I came here for the over sized chicken sandwich, which for some reason they removed. They have chicken, and they have bread, but they removed the two as a pair from the menu, so if you want something other than beef good luck. They will generally accommodate you if you ask, but that’s only if you know to ask. Three stars for removing the best item on the menu!

I’ve been here twice and both times I thought the food was excellent! The burgers are awesome. Fat and juicy with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and yummy pickles on a soft and delicious bun. And the onion rings… They are the best I’ve ever had anywhere! I went there today just for the onion rings and I was not disappointed! Service was fast and polite, no complaints at all. :)

Had chicken strips with green beans. Portions were huge, both were possibly the best I’ve ever had — and service was great. I travel a lot and eat out quite a bit. This place is a gem! I felt like everything here is probably good.

Extremely slow service– we were seated 15 minutes before I got up and got my own drink(it’s not supposed to be self-serve). This is our first visit, so I don’t know if this was an «off» day for service. From the time we sat down to when we got our food it was ONEHOUR. For a burger. No indication from the staff that this was unusual. Will never come back.(We arrived at 12:20, got our food to go at 1:20.)

We had a group stop by for lunch, and had mixed reviews. My dad liked his chicken strips and the fried Macaroni and Cheese was great! However we had difficulties with the service. We were charged for a side salad even though it included a side order with the meal(which salad was one of the options). My sister ordered a fancy grilled cheese with Parmesan and Mozzarella. I guess they were out because they put some shredded cheese on a piece of toast and almost melted it. They never told her they were out, I guess they thought she would notice. They were also out of queso but did tell us that. Whomever was in charge in the back never even came out and we could hear her voicing her displeasure over our issues. Although I loved the Mac and Cheese balls, I will have a hard time returning when Yumm’s is across the street!

Stopped by with husband and son when going thru town. The hamburgers were amazing, we really loved the homemade bun. One of the better burgers I’ve had, glad we stopped by!
