Nice clean campground. Main attraction here are the many lakes to fish. Trumbell Lake is a beautiful picturesque lake.

Great campground! Very large sites! Reservable online and some walk-in sites. We luckily got a walk-in site on Saturday at 5pm. It was full after us. Has a nice small lake in back of camp, some sites lake front. Drinking water, bear lockers, and restrooms in camp. Really nice camp host. Firewood for sale but kinda wet, I would need lighter fluid. You can take showers in Lee Vining at the Mono Vista RV park, they have $ 3 hot showers for 5 minutes open to the public. We loved eating at the Virginia lakes resort for breakfast. Fantastic hike past 6 or more lakes. No swimming allowed in Virginia and little Virginia lake. Lots of fisherman, no gas powered boats. Bring a kayak! Pack horses available for day or overnight trips.

I first visited last year in September.. It was so beautiful and serene. Unfortunately, we got there when the first snowfall hit. It was cold, but we managed through it for the 4 days we were there. The drive up is amazing. The scenery is gorgeous. There are bear boxes and they fit more than a cooler and a box of food as another Unilocaler said. The bathrooms were always stocked with toilet paper and always clean. We saw wildlife. I even managed to get a pic of a buck who came close to our site. He came to eat the strawberry tops the kids were tossing to him. Fishing was good. We caught our trout using worms. We’re going back the 3rd week in July and we can’t wait!

I’ve been fishing/camping at Trumbull Lake for over 40 years. Hasn’t changed a bit in all those years except the bathrooms are much nicer now. The lake itself is beautiful and easy to access from the campground. Fishing has always been good which keeps me coming back. As others have posted, the campground is very nice with large sites. They do have bears that come through some nights looking for food but the bear containers they provide at each campsite are large enough to hold a cooler and a box of food so no problem. Just across the road from Trumbull is Little Virginia Lake. It has a small store/restaurant which is nice if you run out of ice or wood or whatever. I might suggest to come prepared for chilly nights and sometimes rain/thunderstormes/hail. I’ve been fishing the lake on a beautiful sunny day when clouds move in with lightning, thunder, and rain like never before. Three more weeks and I’ll be on the lake again. Can’t wait.

Pretty Lake. I camped Trumbull Lake campground. Well organized, quiet, and clean. The rest room is not stinky. Cleaned everyday. The cmap host is really nice. She sells firewoods. 3 bundles/$ 18. a lot of RV people but they are quiet. surprised. I like this campsite. I don’t fish but looks good for fishing.

Camp hostess was very rude and brought two drunk guys with her that were yelling profanities. Wouldn’t go back unless they fire her.

We have been camping here for about 13 years, it has been a favorite place of ours since we first saw it. The campsites are roomy and have enough privacy so you can relax without the neighbors kids running through your site! The campground sits next to a beautiful glacier lake that has pretty good fishing, there is also a trail head that leads to several other glacial lakes that are remote and private! You can actually hike all the way to Yosemite from this trail but prepare yourself, the campground sits at a 9,200 feet in elevation and the top of the pass is around 12,000 feet. There are three lakes that you can drive right up to all have great fishing… many fishermen bring their float tubes and fly fish here. There are bear everywhere here so you should plan on hanging your food as there are NO bear boxes. We have had bear many times in our camp, they have been pretty easily scared off by just hollering at them. The sites nearest the lake are usually taken and are a little on the small side. There is also camping along the stream a little further down. Beautiful spot!

I have fished and camped at this lake regularly for the last fifteen years. It is absolutely beatiful and the fishing is great. There are two other lakes, Big and Little Virginia lakes, within less than a mile. All three lakes are stocked weekly with rainbow trout and it is hard not to catch fish. The lakes contain rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout. Inexperienced fishers can catch a ton of fish using power bait or nightcrawlers(worms). The more experienced people will also use a variety of lures such as catmasters, thomas boyants and small rapalas. Another great technique is to float a fly behind a water bubble with a long two pound leader. There is a small resort with a restaurant, cabins, showers and a general store just half a mile from Trumble Lake, next to Little Virginia Lake. The campground at Trumble Lake is nice and clean with some great spots for those who reserve early. They also hold a number of spots on a first come first served non-reserve basis, but it seems a bit risky to drive all that way without knowing for sure that you have a camping spot reserved. There are no showers at the campsite but there are restrooms. I would highly recommend this Lake and campground to anyone who enjoys the Eastern Sierras and fishing and or camping. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Trumbull Lake is one of a cluster of lakes known collectively as Virginia Lakes. Although its address is in Bridgeport, California, it’s many miles from the town of Bridgeport. To get here from Mono Lake, drive north on the 395 and turn left on Virginia Lakes Road soon after the major switchback on 395. I’ve never fished this lake, but I’ve been here a few times with my parents, usually just to check it out.(It’s not one of the lakes on our day-visit rotation.) It has a campground right next to it, and it’s generally a pretty easy lake to visit. There’s easy vehicular access, and there are a lot of trees for shade, especially along the southern shore.
