My dog runs and plays and poops here. I pick up her poop. Some other people don’t pick up their dogs’ poop and it makes me wonder if they are the type to not flush. It’s gross and rude. They make poop bags for a reason. They also make flush handles for a reason. Think about it.

Rogers Park is great for families with kids and families with furry kids. My dog absolutely loves this park and she always tries to drag me there when we are out for a walk. This park has two baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a kid’s playground. One of the swings in the playground actually supported my weight and swung easily. This totally brought back memories of me when I would beg my parents to take me to a playground with a swing because my neighbors were hogging the swing that was in my grandpa’s backyard. During winter, you can see kids sledding on the small hill. Between 0430 to 0630pm, you can see people bringing their dogs before sunset. It’s really fun to see the dogs hop around the snow like bunnies although it’s not so fun when you accidentally step on sniper poop that is hiding in the snow patiently waiting to make a squishy impact with your snowboot. During the summer, parents of furry children hang out and drink beers and enjoy the relaxing weekend. All of the pet owners seem to be responsible and they only bring friendly/socialized dogs. Some even bring enough water to share with the other dogs so that no dog is forced to chug nasty mud water that sometimes hang around in the corners of the park. I just love how everyone is friendly, both canine and human. The only drawback is that the park is not completely fenced in so if you have a psychotic dog like mine, get ready to chase after your furry child so that he/she doesn’t get hit by a car. Also, I wish that during the summer, they keep the lights on everyday, even if it’s just for a few hours. I noticed that they only keep it on when there’s a soccer or baseball match.

Years ago my dog was less of a jackass so we’d go over to Rogers Park just about every morning for 20 minutes or so of fetch. He started getting older and crankier and became aggressive with little dogs so we stopped going(a few times a year I’ll motivate to get there at first light with him and use the old Chuck-It a few times). It’s huge. It has tennis courts, a basketball court, and a really nice tot-lot(thanks, New Balance!). The Yawkey League plays here in the summer, and there’s always something going on whether it’s soccer, hurling, flag football, or local kids drinking in the dark spot by the basketball court.

My pup likes this park a lot. She is a big fan. I figure it’s not full fenced because it’s technically not a dog park, but I wish it were!

Quite the regular at Rogers, not so much for the sports, but for the large expanse of green grass for my lovely golden retriever to run around. It’s pretty dog friendly and everyone generally gets along(kids/families, dog owners, tennis players, basketball players, baseball players, etc). Downside if you were to swing by with your pooch, it’s not fenced in, so there’s that chance of a runaway dog, though everyone tries to look out for everyone else as much as possible.

This is really a great park. I like it more each time I come. It has a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, great playground equipment including baby swings and a toddler junglegym. Tenacity hosts tennis lessons for underprivileged kids here and there is usually a baseball practice going on. There are always friendly people here. There are a lot of trees and a huge expanse of lawn to spread a blanket on. There is a clean and well-maintained porta potty on the far end. It is also a great place to walk your dog.
