We have brought our children to this restaurant for several birthdays, and we are always pleased when they ask to go back as it gives us an excuse to go! Erik is the chef that we always request, and his banter is always the right amount of playful, and subtle enough that the adult humor passes over the kids heads. The food is always what we want and expect, and as I like my steak rare the chef has made it a point to cook my meat last so that it’s not overdone, which never happens at the other hibachi establishments we have tried. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for an entertains and satiating experience!

We had a groupon and came here for dinner the other night. Made the reservation online, parking is well lit and out back of the restaurant. This was our first visit to this establishment, we were seated with a couple who were regulars and had a fun time chatting throughout dinner. Luckily, we got the best of the chefs, and his jokes and antics made the meal an entertaining and fun time! I had the chicken, others had beef and shrimp. The meal included soup, salad, noodles, rice, vegetables and meat. Everything was freshly prepared, however the vegetables were burnt a little from the grill itself. We would return, we had fun and the food was good!

I love the show they put on! This is the second time I have been to this location and got the same cook, he is great! Wish I knew his name. Anyhow, the food/show is always pretty good. had the lobster for the first time and it was fabulous. especially the garlic butter sauce they put in the shell… mmmmm. The only problem I have is with the fried rice… it always seems a bit undercooked and hard… I don’t so much prefer it and it costs extra which makes it even more not worth it. THey gave us a bit of a hard time with using the Groupon but the lady eventually was accommodating… apparently if you come in a party, you can only use one even though groupings have several bills… which should be considered as such… not as the whole party… kind of a pain!

Food is great. Location is good. Service is eh ok. The cooks are the only ones that make this place because the hosts and service people are not so great. We like it here but it does get super noisy on busy days. Lots of drunk people sometimes which can be fun to watch but can be a bit much if you’re trying to make it a quiet dinner. Very good place.

We came here after we got of a Groupon. We made a reservation for a Friday night and although we were a few minutes late, they were still gracious and we got to our table right away. I, for real, was not expecting it to be such a large, loud place! My oh my was it crazy in there. Probably just because it was a busy Friday night, but we were seated in the back with another couple, the only 4 people at the table. Luckily, that was the case, as it looked like they tried to fit 10 people at the table and that would’ve been crazy crowded. The empty chair next to me was practically sitting on my lap. Since no one else showed up, we removed the chair and it was much more comfortable. Then the show began… Our chef was incredibly funny and made the overall experience wonderful. They did the typical hibachi show but it was entertaining nonetheless. The noodles and fried rice were tasty, my arteries clogging as I watched how much butter he added during the cooking process. I got the salmon and while tasty, it was VERY much overcooked and dry by the time it hit my plate. My fiancé liked the steak he ordered but he ordered it medium and it also came to him overcooked, more like well-done. Either way, it was a fun date night but I wouldn’t come here for a first, second, or third date even as it’s not really an intimate atmosphere. Very showmanship, but that’s what also made it fun.

I decided to check out this place due to a Groupon that I purchased. I met my friend here because it was about to expire. The area is a nice little town. It is upbeat and has a variety of shops in the area. The parking is pretty sparse on the street but I did find a location with pretty of Public parking across the street. I went up to the restaurant and was totally confused by the doors. I was like… Ok, wheres the entrance. What seemed to be entrances were not and were marked exit. I finally found the entrance on the other end. No biggy. It just takes finding it once. I gave the host my name and waited. Once my friend arrived we were seated pretty quickly. We sat with a family around the typical hibachi grill. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The Chef was even better. Lots of jokes and humor. We got the Chicken/Shrimp/Steak combo. We were also given the traditional salad with ginger dressing and soup. Delicious. The meats were prepared well with fired rice and noodles. We had a fun time and a great meal. These places can get expensive but It was definitely worth it woth the Groupon.

Great Japanese Steakhouse! The chefs are fantastic and entertaining. The food is excellent! The prices are also much lower than most hibachi grills.

Horrible service and poorly managed. We’re told 30 minute wait max and after 50 minutes we asked how much longer and they were extremely rude. Told us they would seat us when they seat us. The girl I spoke to said«well I didn’t tell you 30 minutes so it’s not my problem». Mega-b*tch. We had heard bad things, but wanted to give it a fair try. We will never go back. The best way to describe their staff and level of professionalism is «trashy»

I’m definitely a fan of Japanese Hibachi restaurants. I have a favorite already when I’m in the mood but I had heard decent things about Sagano and decided to try for myself when I was in the area. I had read reviews before deciding to dine, which I always do before trying somewhere new. So I was aware they no longer were serving sushi. I was very disappointed as usually I would order it before dinner when I go to these places. I have read the reasoning, which they attribute to other places in the area serving it, but really if I’m going to come in for dinner I like to have everything all in one place. I’m not going to have sushi down the street first. The night we came in it was close to closing time so we were the only people in there. It was very quiet and laid back. The atmosphere and décor could definitely be better. There service was OK, a little too fast paced for what I’m used to. Maybe that was because of the time though. I started with ordering a drink. Wasn’t familiar with any of the wine brands they offered and asked to try a tiny sample before making a decision. Something most places I go to have no issue providing their customers, but they do unless you pay for the sample. No thanks. Onto the food. It was good. I had the Filet and Scallops. The soup was decent and I liked the salad dressing. It was a sesame peanut butter dressing, tasty but a bit overpowering. Dinners are served with vegetables, noodles, and rice as well. I was disappointed at the amount of vegetables that came with my dinner and also that they do not offer brown rice as an option. It seems that they try to fill you up with a lot of carbs instead. They offer two dipping sauces. A ginger based one and one that tastes like thousand island called Yum-Yum sauce. I liked the ginger sauce but the other one just reminded me of thousands island or the sauce you get for onion rings. Not something I’d expect to get at a Japanese restaurant. The food was good and cooked well. Nothing out of the ordinary and definitely not as good as what I’m used to. I’d go again if I was in the area but I wouldn’t make this my go to Japanese restaurant.

This place is so freaking good. Every time we come here, we never leave disappointed. The yum yum sauce is to die for! Servers and chefs always go the extra mile. Jon Jon the chef is the man! Ask for him, he hooks it up fat.

First time there and it was fantastic!!! They could teach benihanas more than a thing or two. Matt was our chef, he was incredibly talented, and funny… our whole table was in tears from laughing so hard at his sarcastic sense of humor. the food was delicious, our table ranged from hibachi chicken all the way to calimari and everyone loved it. now lets talk about the amount of food you get… what? Real portions? You’re full and still have an entire second meal for the doggie bag! Im giving them 5 stars because they deserve 5 stars… finally, a resturant to look forward to taking the family without needing a loan to pay the tab! Try it and you decide for yourself… you won’t be disappointed.

We had a great time here. Eric was our chef and was hilarious! The food portions are very generous and everything was fantastic. I had the tuna and shrimp combo and it was amazing! It was probably the most well-cooked, tender, and juicy tuna I’ve ever had. This place does not serve sushi, unfortunately. We were disappointed when we arrived but pleasantly surprised by the hibachi dinner. Give it a try!

My husband and I have been to several hibachi places in the local area. I really enjoyed my experience here. T, our chef, was fantastic. He was hilarious! Very different comedy than the other hibachi places. Jessica was our server and was very attentive. Our drinks were never empty, sauces were refilled, and plates were quickly cleared. I would definitely return for the food and experience.

Managers need to take a course in supply management so they can properly accommodate people. When a 30 min wait time turns out to be a 1.5 hour wait customers will definitely be pissed. Rather overestimate wait time then severely underestimate. Doesn’t help that a group who reserved a time and we’re still 40 min post reservation time was making a scene. At first I thought they were over reacting then I came to understand their frustration. Sat down at the table and it took another 10 – 15 min before drink orders were taking. Continues this waiting game some more before we had the hibachi ball rolling. Ordered 4 dishes and things came out salty. Large portions though. Waiter kept cups full. Essentially wasted a lot of time for OK food. This place needs to hire more people or just more objectively tell people the real wait time.

My wife and I went here for Lunch on 5÷29÷2015. They’re currently open for lunch on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. We were one of two couples there. I had been to this restaurant one time before, and although the chef we had the previous time was more entertaining, we did have our two kids with us then, so he was probably hamming it up for them. The waiter we had this time was awesome too, and each chef has their own creative ways of entertaining, although they both did the onion volcano. The food is very well seasoned, and in super large portions. The fried rice is delicious and makes for a good meal by itself. The noodles and chicken are delicious. The soup was good, but I didn’t think that the plastic spoon provided meshed with the atmosphere very well. My wife loves the peanut salad dressing they use on their side salad, and has tried to reproduce it at home. I don’t particularly think that peanuts go on a salad, and I gave her my salad. We tipped the chef and the waiter separately, and the chef seemed to have genuine appreciation for the gesture. I kind of expected Japanese music to be playing, but it was symphony music.

Horrible! We came in, a party of five, wanting to sit at the hibachi table and have a cocktail and relax but instead both our soup and salad were lined up in front of us and they wanted to take our order immediately. We told the server we wanted to relax a bit and enjoy our cocktail then soup then salad(how it is at most restaurants). We were told we could not do that because the other four people who had been there 30 minutes prior to us wanted to order. We expected them to start the other people first and get them situated and then put our order in. We were told this would not be possible. Even though we came in 30 minutes AFTER them we had to hurry up and catch up to them so they could all be cooked at once. Clearly for the convenience of the restaurant. They said the only way they could accommodate us was if we moved us and our drinks soup and salad to yet another table !! So they moved all 5 of us and inconvenienced us instead of inconveniencing themselves.(which really would not have been any inconvenience at all) We will never go back again! No wonder the sushi side of the restaurant is closed down!

So shocked & terribly disappointed that they don’t offer sushi. Only to learn this after looking at their menu with a lengthy intro of «History of Sushi.» It’s just really odd(to say the least) to have a Japanese restaurant name and not serve sushi. Because that’s actually what lured me to go to your restaurant. The(imposed) hibachi was quite nice – serving size was very generous considering we were only there for lunch. You may need to check on the dress code of your employees, specifically the one who’s job is to greet people at the door. Her lack of undergarment made us forget on how upset we were that you didn’t have sushi. :D And oh, there was a strand of hair on my silverware. So yeah, this sums up my delightful experience. My quest for an epic sushi place in Brighton is not quite fruitful to date(I’ve tried Sushi zen — meh! Pi’s? Same sentiment). I guess we’re just going to keep driving to Novi or Ann Arbor for our fix.
