Sips n’ Licks just opened in Brighton this summer and I have already been there twice and plan to go back many more times! Yes, I love ice cream. Love it. The first time I went I got the chocolate oreo custard as I rarely see custard as an option around Boston. It was fantastic. When I went over the weekend I got the chocolate frozen yogurt. Yum. It actually reminded me of a higher quality Wendy’s frosty(not sure if they still make those, but I used to love them). My friend got hers with Oreo and they ground the Oreo so finely that it was basically the same as mine except it tasted like Oreo — never a bad thing. Next time I will try their reg ice cream or maybe a smoothie!

I love, love, love this place! I love taking my dog for walks down to oak square and hated that there wasn’t a really good, independent coffee shop right here, until Sips and Licks opened up. The staff is extremely friendly and the place is super clean and bright. Plus, they have free wifi and several tables to sit and work at. As for the Sips part of the name(I haven’t tried their ice cream yet, but am looking forward to it) they have some of the best iced coffee I have had in a long time! I’m not sure what they do to it, but it is so satisfying. I’ve tried their lattes a few times too and they are also pretty good. They do have a selection of baked goods too, of which, some of them(I think all of their muffins) are made fresh in the store that day. This is definitely becoming one of my favorites in the area.

I loved that this place opened. I went the first weekend and bought vanilla and chocolate ice cream and served it to a party of people, everyone raved. I don’t eat ice cream, but I’ve had a few smoothies there. They are so good, but too expensive! I love it and want to go there more, if only the prices were more reasonable I’d go a lot more often.

oak square has needed an ice cream shoppe for a while, and i could barely contain my excitement when i saw sips n licks! i was even more excited when i saw what ice cream they serve(shains of maine), because i’d recently had it at a shoppe in winthrop and fell in love with it. they serve 3 kinds of ice cream, if you will. traditional hard ice cream, custard(an egg base, rather than the milk base typically used for ice cream), and frozen yogurt. the fro yo is your best bet if you can limit yourself on the mix-ins(you pay $.70 per mix), but don’t get it alone because its a little low in sugar — to the point it affects the taste. i would love to give this 4 stars(i almost never give 5) however the scoop servings are way too small. the price is reasonable, but i’ve been there 3 times and i can honestly say that they’ve consistently under-served my roommates and me. my roommate got 2 scoops today and it was the size of a typical american kiddie cone. i hate to say this, but unless they start giving a more generous scoop i think sips n licks is going to struggle… and i’d love to see them stick around.

I was looking around at rentals in Oak Square and happened upon this place on the way. Their coffees and ice creams are fairly priced for the size of the servings that they give you. The ice cream flavors, while standard, have creative touches to them. Their Java Crunch ice cream actually has chocolate-covered coffee beans in the coffee ice cream. It was so good and I was well-wired for the rest of the afternoon… which is good because the watered-down Dunkin Donuts coffee ain’t working for me.(Sorry, Bay Area people are used to some high-octane coffee). I’m not sure how much I’d stop by since I probably won’t live in this neighborhood. However, it is right by the Montfern 57 stop.
