Late review, I tried Golden Pagoda for the 1st time last week. I totally agree with Jay A. — expensive Chinese takeout, small portions. That pretty much sums it up. General Tso’s chicken is $ 2 to $ 3 more than any other Chinese takeout place. Portion size was also less. Quality, not great, I’ve had better. Steamed dumplings were bland. Egg roll was also bland. Needless to say, there won’t be a return visit. Lee Po and Sun Fat(both in Bristol) are much better options.

Ordered my food & ten minutes later my food is ready! Headed to the restaurant to pick up my order on the way home from work and went to pay and there is a sign $ 15 minimum credit card purchase, disappointed since I was paying with my debit card. I handed card to lady and she said«oooooo no cash?» I said no sorry. She kind of hesitated and then said next time bring cash. So maybe when someone orders via phone they should let every customer know cash only if it’s a small order so they are not surprised when they arrive. Anyhow, I had ordered the chicken & broccoli combination plate. Comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. A lot of food, very tasty the only thing that I did not like was the chicken was really really chewy. I had to spit it out, yuck. Check it out hidden next to Big Lots, and remember under $ 15, CASHONLY.

I’ve been looking for good Chinese food in Bristol since we moved here almost 15 years ago. I think I may have found it. The food was really good and fresh tasting. Fried rice was the best I’ve ever had, bar none. Went with a girlfriend and we ate in. The décor is straight out of the 80s but is clean and our server was very attentive.

Amazing, delicious Chinese food!!! Hands down the best this side of the state. Every time I come here either take out or dining in(the foods always better) I’m never disappointed. This place has all the usual favorites plus many authentic, legit Chinese dishes. I come here often enough and it’s always consistent. Food is fresh tasting, crispy, hot and the place is extremely clean with superb service. The prices are a few bucks more than the usual generic places around however well worth it. The one and only drawback is it’s location, it’s tucked in the back of an old plaza next to a biglots and sears. I recommend the boneless spareribs gold finger combo or the general tso’s chicken soooo good!!!

We wanted to try something new. Decided on Golden Pagoda. We knew it was there for a while and it looked like a little hole in the wall. After passing over our 2 favorites in the area for Chinese food Golden Pagoda was up. They did leave a lot to be desired in dinner. Walking into the the restaurant at 5pm on a Sunday we were greeted with no one at the counter and no customers in the place. No music playing in the background. This was worrisome. Decided to give it a try anyway. A slimy looking guy walks up and asks what we need. After commenting on my shirt and then thinking he was funny and then kept going on chuckling to himself he finally was quiet. Then he started with the burping. Can you believe he was actually burping while we were standing there looking over the menu? Well he did. It happened and it was nasty. Food order consisted of a Beef & Broccoli combo w/pork fried rice and egg roll. General Tso’s chef’s special. Pint of Boneless BBQ pork ribs, chilled sesame noodles and steamed dumplings. Usually an order of this magnitude runs me about $ 28. Yeah, bill at Golden Pagoda $ 40. Give you an idea why: General Tso’s chicken $ 12. Yes. $ 12, $ 9 or $ 10 everywhere else. Sesame Noodles — $ 6.99. Normally $ 3.99 anywhere else. Steamed Dumpling — $ 6.99. Normally $ 4.25 anywhere else. So yes, very expensive food. Food was blah. General Tso’s was the worst I’ve had. Chicken very fatty and not crispy at all. Tasted like the oil it was fried in with a twang of vinegar. Not good. BBQ ribs were decent. Crispy, lots of flavor. Sesame noodles were decent. Could get them anywhere and for half the price. Beef and broccoli was meh. Not good and not bad. Nothing to really comment on. Dumplings were run of the mill dumplings. Nothing special. Portion sizes were wayyyyyyyy too small. They told me 10 min and it was 20. I showed up and no one knew what i had ordered. Really? With no customers in the place you’re going to say you’re not sure where or what my order was? omg. So in summary on this lengthy review the food was not good. Way over priced and small portion sizes. Atmosphere is creepy and waitstaff rude. You know after writing this I originally put two stars I’m changing that to one star. This place got $ 40 out of me and won’t get another penny.

Best Chinese food around! This place is super clean and the food is fresh and tasty. It looks like it was taken straight from the 80’s inside and despite the age you could practically eat off the floor. Great atmosphere to bring your family or even a date as it is never that crowded. It is also great for takeout, food is always hot and service is friendly despite the minor language barrier. I live near Chinatown in Boston and I can’t find anything better than this, it has been and always will be the best hidden gem in Bristol.

Good is good. Nice and fast for takeout. Prices are good, but they do require a minimum purchase to use a credit/debit card which is a little annoying for me since I never carry cash.
