Have you ever had a really bad case of the Mondays?! In other words everything that seemingly could go wrong is going wrong?! That’s how my Monday was going. I spilled something on my shirt first thing in the morning, my chair at work broke suddenly, and to top it all off I realized I left my lunch at home! Grrrrr. I looked into take out places close to work and Skewers popped up. I checked out the menu and saw there were lots of options for folks like me who don’t eat meat, score. I ordered the samosas and chickpea pallow(chickpeas and rice). There’s a private lot so I was able to pull right in and grab my order. The person who rung up my order was very courteous. My case of the Mondays was starting to get a little better. I expected to get 2 or 3 samosas and a small side of rice but I didn’t! The portions were very generous and both were absolutely delicious! I wanted to save some to take home but it was just too scrumptious. Thanks Skewers for turning my case of the Mondays into a good thing! I’ll definitely be back!

Excellent food, excellent service, very clean. Will definitely be back! Got the beef gyro, it was incredible– the beef was so tender it was falling apart!

The food here is absolutely delicious! The owners are wonderful people too and so nice. I come here for lunch every other week and always try something new. I can’t decide which has been my favorite, since everything seems better than the last.

This was an unexpected find. The food was very good. One of the best gyro I have had. Everything I had was good and fresh. The chicken was good quality meat(if you are like me that’s important! Lol) Also, It’s clean and the service is excellent. The place was empty, which is really too bad since it’s so great to have different options in town. Definitely try it out.

What an unexpected treasure in Bristol! This is a very understated family-owned restaurant. It has an abridged no nonsense menu that sticks to tried and true recipes. It keeps their food fresh and the result is superb food that is clearly prepared with love and flair. The staff is very helpful and welcoming to boot. I ordered the beef kabob, which is marinated overnight and comes served with rice and salad. The rice is just phenomenal. It is magnificently flavorful, mixed with raisins and carrots. The meat was very tender and perfectly cooked. This is very authentic food eons better than the kebab house of Afghanistan in West Hartford. It is also reasonably priced and a surprising find for Bristol. My only regret is that I did not get the halva dessert which looked very promising. I will definitely be back for more and I’ll update my review accordingly.

My husband and I went to skewers tonight for a late dinner. We were getting out of work late so my husband called to see what time they closed. They said 9 pm and we wouldn’t be there til around 8:30 but they said no problem and to come on down! We were greeted by 2 very nice men that turned out to be brothers. The place does not have their liquor license yet so we brought a bottle of wine and sat down. For our appetizer, we chose the house fries. They were delicious! The green dipping sauce was so good we could literally have drank it! For our entres we decided to share the lamb skewers and beef skewers. They happened to run out of rice tonight because they were so busy today which was totally fine because they gave us some salad on the side instead! The dressing was fantastic and the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth! The gentlemen that greeted us told us they were brothers and trying out their new adventure of running a restaurant and that their mom was their cook! I loved how you could tell it was a home cooked meal made with true tender love and care! My husband and I feel we have found a true diamond in the rough here and bristol and we will most definitely be back!!!

Delicious food! We need more restaurants like this in Bristol. I have never had this type of food before and loved everything. Service was great, very clean, waiter took time to explain everything to us. Wonderful family owned and operated restaurant that is unlike any other place around.

Came in here with my husband on a whim. We were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. The décor is outdated, however after talking with the staff it is clear they have plan to continue to upgrade. Definitely worth a stop by!!! Definitely a local business worth supporting

One word, one immensely delicious restaurant… Skewers. in downtown Bristol. If you like lamb…(Which is TODIEFOR.) and the simultaneously delicate and robust flavors of the Middle East, than this adorable brand-new spot(which is byob) is for you.

Server was informative, friendly, efficient, and easy on the eyes! Portion sizes were great, food was authentic, cooked and seasoned well. The rice was amazing, a must try. The lamb is especially popular and delicious. Menu was easy to read, affordable prices. Would definitely go back again. Save room for dessert!

4 strong stars here! Family run business, great service, food was very good, Bristol needs more good restaurants. Bring your own alcohol, just serve soft drinks for now. We ordered the platter, it had two different kinds of rice, one of which had raisins and shredded carrots with a slight hint of cinnamon. Very unusual but delicious! The other rice had long and short grains with chic peas. The rice’s were then toped with; chicken wings, ground chicken patties with lots of flavors, lamb, beef and chicken chunks all seasoned deliciously! It had a small salad with the right amount of dressing, and fresh veggies & green olives. The layout of the restaurant consists of booths, like an old pizza restaurant, décor could be redone to compliment the mediterranean food and music to give the gem 5 stars… We will be back!

On an impulse… I stopped here for an early dinner… this was one of the best experiences I have had in a very long time. This family owned and operated business produced an amazing array of flavorful foods that were beyond what I was expecting. I just ordered appetizers, that were all homemade on site and only after you order… by a very sweet older woman(the Mom of the family)…interestingly enough… she made five of each, and only chooses the four best to send out to the customer… they were all amazing! The youngest suggested a wonderful homemade dessert… and the family gave me an order of baklava just to try!!!

Stopped in on a whim for lunch in a Saturday. Ordered the lamb skewers and the beef skewers with the chickpea rice. We noticed that it took some time for the food to come out meaning that the food was not pre-prepared. This was something to appreciate since we were the only ones there. The food was delightful and I look forward to and expanded menu. Also, I wonder if they are byob because that would be good to know for next time.

Really enjoyed the food here. Ordered the beef skewers with the chickpea pallow. It came with a few bites of a fresh salad. Super simple and really delish! The spouse ordered the Med salad, hummus and chicken skewers and also liked it. Wish that I remembered to take photos to share! Only gripe — Wish they gave an option to have fresh veggies with the hummus rather than unleavened bread.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The beef korma was tender and more like a pot roast consistency and the beef skewers were delicious sirloin steak. There are two rice choices. As mentioned in a previous review if you need veggies other then salad there are none offered, but since I eat enough of them at other meals I didn’t miss them at all. Very reasonable and we will be back. We wish this family run venue much success. Liquor permit is pending so BYOB for now.

Having read the good reviews we were eager to try this place out. Arrived Friday night, about 7:00pm. There was no one around to great us; waited about 2 – 3 minutes before an employee [owner?] came out from the kitchen. We were directed to a bare table and sat without even being offered a menu. When no one returned after a good five minutes my wife got the attention of another employee to ask for menus. The employee then came over to the table and asked if we minded waiting for the party of six behind us to place their orders as they didn’t have any more menus [really?]. It should be noted there were only two parties there at this time other than ourselves; the party of six with apparently all of the menus and a party of two who were already eating. Hard to believe but true. We left and won’t be back.

I had the lamb skewers with the seasoned rice and salad with delicious hot bread as a take out order. I was very impressed with the nice booths for a sit down dinner. The gentleman who took my order was extremely pleasant. The city of Bristol needs more restaurants like this in town. Nice variety in the menu also.

So after a visit to the nearby Firefly Hollow Brewing Company(which is absolutely worth a visit btw), a friend and I found ourselves craving some sustenance. Not knowing the area, we stopped at the first place that appeared to be open, which just so luckily happened to be Skewers. Ok so first off, Ambiance. The restaurant interior is welcoming, although nothing to write home about. Not being one to care about ambiance as long as the food is good, i guess you could say it was well lit, the seating was comfortable and the staff was very welcoming in seeing us to our table despite it being apparent that they had just come off of a Friday night dinner rush. No for the purpose of this review, the food. We ordered our food(Thu Piazza Platter/Chicken Skewer Platter). The food came out quickly and arrived steaming hot in no time. The Thu Piazza(afghani style meatballs) were amazing; tender and savory with just the right amount of sweet from the onions. While the meatballs were awesome; the rice was the star of the dish. On the recommendation of the owners, I chose the rice cooked with raisins and carrots. At first I was hesitant, but after my first bite I found myself hooked! It was savory with just the right amount of sweetness that complimented the meatballs. overall 10⁄10. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my experience, and although I don’t often find myself in the area, would recommend it to anyone wishing to try something new.
