First used Bill a couple years back. He diagnosed my control board wasn’t activating heater, bypassed it at the solenoid. Hot tub ran another 3 years. Recently broke again. I bought the control board and replaced as well as the solenoid. Still no heat. I’ve done what I know to do, so I called him to come out again. He’d barely heard what was wrong — as soon as I told him I’d replaced the parts the told me that he makes his living from the markup of parts and he couldn’t make any money off me, plus he was so busy he couldn’t see too far into the future. Those are exact quotes. What he doesn’t know, is that I’d reached what I can do on my own. I had called fully prepared for him to diagnose and install the pressure switch, the heating element, whatever is called for. People call when they need help — and I’m sorry — but even IF they only use you to diagnose and then purchase parts — you got money for the service call and that’s more than you get refusing to help someone.
