Fishnet Seafood Cafe

I’m so sad this place is closed :(I walked by on October 11, 2015 for a bite being hungry in the area. I hadn’t been there in a long while so I was so happy when my hubs suggested it. I’m so sad.
It was one of the best places in the area because 1) It’s seafood/​soul food vs. the crappy fried chicken and pizza you always find around the area 2) the food they have is tasty and reasonable.
It was like that relative you always loved and respected even though you never saw them much, and when the opportunity arises for you to see them again, you find out they disappeared, moved to undisclosed place, or they died.
So saaaaaaaaaaaad :(
The remoulade sauce was delicious and the fish sandwich combo with fries you CANNOT beat. You can’t find taste, quality and value anywhere else.
Still crying…

THIS PLACE HAS SHUTTERED…
Came by this afternoon and the store has clearly gone out of business.

This restaurant is no longer in business. I’m giving a 1 star not because of the food but because I brought the Unilocal deal $ 15 for $ 20 and Unilocal has not refunded my money no matter how many emails I send. I understand why Unilocal doesn’t update the info on this place. Guess they’re making money selling coupons to a restaurant that has been shut down

I live a few blocks away and my husband brought home a menu and I decided to try it, I fell in love with their food at least what I have tasted… Sweet mash, Creamy spinach, Macaroni and cheese and the Collard greens. Their problem is not how good their food is, is their commitment to have available what they offer in their menu, it took 3 trips for my husband to finally get me the sweet mash. They always have the Mac and Cheese but the other side dishes you never know when they are going to be available. So far this week they have been closed for 4 days and I am hoping is because they ran out of fish and nothing to do with the health department, my husband says they look and are too clean to be health department issues, so my guess is that they are unreliable and don’t care much about their customers or having a successful business, maybe they figured that since they have excellent reviews it was time to close shop for a few days and go on vacation.
I am hooked but I am going to look for a more reliable establishment.

Genuinely surprised at how good the food is. The woman behind the counter was a little rude, but overall, the food was prepared in good time, and when I sat down to eat, it was excellent. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were great, and the batter they use to fry their seafood is DELICIOUS. There’s corn flour in there somewhere, so it adds a bit of texture and crunch. Would def come back in the future.

Ordered three whiting sandwiches and whiting w/​fries
Sandwich did not make it to the end of the block
Fried right and sauce was amazing
Then I came home to whiting and fries (fries were not seasoned, as they ran out, but still good fries).
I will definitely be coming back to try the sides and shrimp!
Fish is fried right and the sauce was awesome!

I have to say that i got very surprised. When u first get in, you dont give anything for the place, specially when youre the only guests inside. So we just ordered a appetizer of Fish and Chips for the 2 of us. It was a great portion, delicious food, the fish sauce was amazing and i really dont know why there isnt a line to get in, because it was one of the best fish and chips Ive ever had.

Great place. Homestyle fried fish is what you come here for. These type of businesses are quickly fading in nyc support them as much as hou cAn.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to eat during my lunch break. Now its one of my favorite spots to eat.
The soups and mac and cheese are amazing!!!
The prices are right and the quality of food is great.

Not my words, but a woman from the neighborhood who came in to place an order while I was checking out the menu. Once I heard that, I knew I had made a good decision.
For $ 28, I got probably enough to feed my family of three adults and an 8yo and a 5yo twice. I ordered to-​go and drove back to my place in Queens, and everything was still crispy. Here’s the rundown:
Catfish nuggets: I love fried catfish, and I’ll prob order these whenever I’m here… unless I order:
Catfish platter: this comes with generous portions of meaty fried catfish that is very tasty, as well as two sides.
Whiting platter: three pieces of well seasoned whiting and two sides. My daughter loved her second dinner (yup, good enough to eat even after she already ate something previously!)
Fried Whiting sandwich: the first time I’ve ever wanted to get stuck at red lights, and it’s because I wanted to take another bite (or three) of this. And I think its only $ 3.50?
Sides — really enjoyed their Mac, collard greens, and sweet mash.
So the food is excellent and the price is right; what more could you want?
The service and workers are excellent: you feel welcome and attended to. They even gave me a sample of their seafood soup, which was nice.
I will definitely be making many, many return visits to Fishnet Café and I won’t lie: even though I have some good friends in the area, my real reason for visiting will be the food here!

THE best seafood I’ve had since moving from the South! Finally!
My boyfriend and I got the catfish plate with two sides. Of course I got Mac and cheese and the collard greens; he got broccoli with Mac and cheese. SO delicious.
A hidden gem for sure!
