«A» rating and good food! The employees are nice and professional. The interior remodel look great. Wish they had a larger non-meat selection, but hey they have a decent amount of seafood available!

Went for a quick bite to eat with my girlfriend after shopping in the plaza across the street. Walked in, got plates of food, and had to leave within five minutes because the food was so bad. It was either too crunchy or too cold to eat. Asked to talk to a manager because clearly we hadn’t stayed long enough for a full meal. Didn’t get to talk to a manager but they only charged us for one buffet instead. Still, it’s crazy that they charge 13.99 for dinner buffet when nothing is edible. And a 10% service charge. Good playlist of music in there, but definitely not worth going to. Should have walked away once we opened the door and saw the B health rating.

Not perfect, but much better than the other one. Hong Hsi is the Chinese buffet located on Bartow Avenue, behind the stop for the Select Bx12 bus. It is NOT the one located on Co-Op City Boulevard in Peartree Mall. If you have to choose, this is by far the lesser of two evils. For starters, the wait staff doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable. They’re actually pretty friendly, especially to regulars and kids. Second, the food isn’t too bad for a Chinese buffet. The Singapore style Mei Fun actually has curry powder, and their meat doesn’t taste funny. Some of the items are way too greasy or feel like they’ve been bathed in butter, but you can’t expect too much. Sushi is edible. They recently added a bunch of different flavors of Breyers ice cream for dessert. While I’m not a fan of using one scoop for multiple flavors, it was actually pretty good. Brotip: Take out rates are by the pound. You can take a bunch of fruits and make an impromptu fruit salad!
