If you want a good meal for a reasonable cost this is the perfect place. I have been coming here since it opened and I can’t say I’ve have anything other than amazing food. My all time favorites are the mangu for breakfast along with the best oatmeal, with some bananas, cinnamon and honey? YUM! Lunch/dinner comes around, I’ll go for some quesadillas, shrimps and grits, or my personal favorite: scallops and risotto. But there is something very VERY undeniably delicious: the shrimp mofonguitos. The . Dessert? I’ll stick to their bread pudding for the rest of my life! You will never go back once you try it. But over everything is the service, you always feel taken care of and the owners are so attentive as well as genuinely great people! This has been the best addition to this neighborhood. Worth every penny!

This place was okay. I came here this past Thursday with a friend to have dinner. Although dinner itself was subpar, service was friendly and attentive. As soon as I stepped inside, my friend, who was already there, happily greeted me and asked what I wanted to drink. She asked the waitress to bring me water. The waitress was very attentive the whole night, ensuring that our thirst was quenched. She constantly refilled the glasses all throughout our dining experience. I ordered the Thursday night’s bacalao(salted codfish) special, while my friend got the oxtail. The carrot rice had already run out by the time we got there(630pm), so I ordered the rice and black beans as default. My friend did not want rice. The waitress was nice enough to let her substitute mashed potatoes for the regular side option that I ordered. I wanted a side of maduros(sweet plantains) to accompany my meal. I asked if that was an option. The waitress said yes. I was happy. Food came out, and I wasn’t impressed. My rice was hard, with leftovers from the bottom of the pot. I did not want concon/rapao. I wanted regular rice. The bacalao, although flavorful, lacked tenderness. I kept hoping I bit into bits of potatoes to add suculence and balance out the toughness of the fish. The beans were tasty, but had a pasty taste. Perhaps they were cooked for too long. The maduros were a bit on the drier side, too. I was hoping to have the fried moist, sweet, crispy, yet tender richness that is normally served in Spanish restaurants. Instead, I received plain, dry pieces of plantain. While I was unimpressed with my food, my friend loved hers. Her oxtail was covered in sauce. It looked tender and flavorful. It was her mashed potatoes, though, that caught my eye. They were beautifully whipped, akin to the consistency of a luscious whipped cream. Speaking of whipped, dessert was the highlight of our meal. I could then see why this restaurant would receive 4– or 5-star ratings. The dessert was beautifully plated and provided a gastronomically adventurous end to our dining experience. My friend and I split the bread pudding and carrot cake. Although both lacked moisture(again), they were so beautifully presented. I disregarded it, just to take in all the decorative aspects of the sweet cakes. The carrot cake’s «mini snowmen» whipped frosting were topped with berries and half-moon banana slices. The bread pudding pieces were drizzled with caramel zig-zags, adding a little extra moisture to the dry pieces. Overall, I rate this restaurant 3 stars. It is neither fantastic or terrible. However, it is a disappointment. With so many 5-star reviews, I was expecting something superb. I got average, instead.

The worst place if you want to order by phone they have no time or have you wait then pass you to another person because you mentioned they took to long like 15 minutes and really don’t care if you order or not please save your self time order some place else.

So, we ordered in because i didn’t feel like going out. I got the pork tortilla and mac and cheese. First of all, the mac tasted«out of a box». So number one I don’t go for that. Neither did my friends. The Pork Tortilla was extremely spicy. And what annoyed me was the there was no indication on the online menu that it was going to be spicy. The ribs were overly saucy and the next day my friends and i felt like barfing!

We stopped by here after a visit to Wave Hill nearby. Very reasonably priced good food. I had a cheeseburger with seasoned fries. The burger was juicy to the point of squirting and running down my hands holding the burger. My wife had the steak, which was tasty and very tender. The chef was very nice and stopped by to speak with us. He gave us a flan dessert on the house. This was my first experience with flan, and it was better than I expected.

I chose this place to meet with my friend who lives nearby. She is not happy with the neighborhood and I wanted to surprise her with this *gem* — at least, that’s what I thought based in the awesome reviews. This turned out to be a disaster… 1. The place opens at 9 on Sundays. We were there at 9:05 — locked. We went to the RiteAid around the corner to pick up a couple things. Came back 20 min later– still locked. We drove around looking for a different place, but I continued calling. They opened almost at 10 — grrr. Ok, we thought, after all we are all humans, things happen. We showed up at 10:20. We were the third party there. 2. We waited for our coffee for 15 min. We ordered cappuccino but got a regular coffee. At this point we were happy to get anything. 3. We ordered an omelet and 2 eggs sunny side up with bacon. The waffle maker was broken *eyeroll — our luck that morning* so we ordered a toast. The omelet was brought 30 min later. It took another 20(!) min to make my order. And they messed it up too — one egg instead of 2. 4. Now, about the food. The omelet was oversalted and overcooked. I do have to admit, that bacon was exceptional! Crispy and very delicious. The toast was good too. Bottomline — this was the worst breakfast experience that I ever had… My friend was chuckling the entire time in a «I told you so» way.

Went for brunch with Julie today about 12:30. The place was only about ¼ full. We were seated quickly and Julie ordered a black coffee. They brought her coffee about 10 min later in a paper like to go cup. Strange but OK, best restaurant coffee ever. Maybe the cardboard cup added depth to the flavor. We ordered a shrimp in plantain cups appetizer to share. Fantastic. Julie had skirt a good sized marinated steak and I had a fruit smoothie and«healthy» omelet. The food service is slow. Virtually everything is made from scratch as ordered. They have an open kitchen and you can watch your food being prepared, if you want. This is a good neighborhood place with an actual small parking lot in the front. Also it is very reasonable. Our bill was $ 44.00 before tip. Extra star for that. Anyway, when we finished, about 1:45, the place was packed with no more open tables. We will be back.

Tastiest food per dollar in Riverdale. Nothing comes close. Everything seems to be made from scratch with fresh quality ingredients. Absolutely loved the chiccarones with fried plantains. Family run business, and it shows. They really care about their patrons and their food. We got to sample their banana flan, and it was as good, if not better than the ones I’ve had at fancy restaurants. Dulche, and delightful and delicate. We were all impressed.

In a neighborhood filled with disappointing restaurants, Leche Y Miel is a true gem. So much so, that they are worthy of their(at least) several-months-duration«Grand Opening». Situated between a Carvel, a martial arts gym, and around the corner from a police station, the store front does not particularly stand out. Inside, you’ll find plenty of seating, an open kitchen, and a stack of cook books. The service is great. The waitress is quite pleasant, and the chef occasionally even hand-delivers his creations and checks in with patrons. There are regulars known by their names, but everyone gets treated exceptionally well in a casual atmosphere. Food options range from brunch to dessert. I had the chicken and waffles with a mason jar of Tamarind juice. The presentation was great but the taste was even better. The chicken had the right kind of spices, and was exceptionally moist and tender. And what a pleasant surprise it was to have bits of bacon distributed throughout. If you want comfort-type food that will rival any gourmet restaurant, then this is your spot. Though it may be a trek for many Unilocalers, there is an incentive to ride the 1 to nearly the end, and that’s Bronx prices. I only have one regret — that I did not get dessert. (^_^) Venue (^_^) Options (^_^) Quality (^_^) Service (^_^) Bang for buck Glad I came. I’ll be back.

Wow, what a gem in the neighborhood. Friendly owners, clean restaurant, clean restrooms, reasonable prices and freshly cooked food. Loved the open kitchen. This is a def a mom and pop shop. Both of them work there all the time, plus the son is in the back prepping. Great family restaurant, can’t say enough good things about it. The only restaurant to go to when you’re in this neighborhood. There’s also limited parking spots in front of the restaurant.

What can I say, I’m impressed! The food here is delicious. The atmosphere is very cozy, you can easily forget that you are at a restaurant. The owner is extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the stewed chicken, rice and red beans with a side of maduros, the flavors were just right. There is no competition with Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings or Smash Burger located across the street, this restaurant is in a league of its own. Give this restaurant a chance, you won’t be disappointed!

I love this place. It is one of the best gems in this neighborhood and exactly what it needed. There are few places in this neighborhood that can give you a fresh gourmet meal and make you feel like you’re being taken care of by someone’s loving Dominican grandmother in the kitchen. The husband and wife who own this establishment clearly care about this venture and take the time to make you feel welcome and get to know you. I have been coming here often since they’ve opened and they never skip a beat. Their food is soooooo goooooood!!! I have come for breakfast and lunch and they provide hearty Dominican classics as well as healthy meals with a twist. From their good old fashioned tres golpe to their French toast to their ribs and yuca fries. It is allllll good. Have not had a bad meal yet. You seriously cannot go wrong. Only tip I would give is to give yourself time to come here. This is not a fast food restaurant and your food is cooked fresh! This does take a normal amount of time so give yourself time if you are deciding to eat in.

I knew this place was special when I looked closely at the cookbooks stacked three feet high on the counter. These fine folks are serious about all that surrounds food and nourishes the soul. Husband had a western omelet and I had a bacon, egg and mozzarella wrap this morning. Both were better than imagined. I am so happy they chose to open in Kingsbridge. We can not wait to go back for dinner.

I’m beyond excited that Leche y Miel calls Riverdale /Kingsbridge home, because that’s MY home and it means I can go here whenever I want! Went for brunch last Sunday, around 11:30. Pretty empty, which surprised me. I ordered at the counter because I wasn’t quite sure what to do & there was no staff on the floor. Got the honey dipped French toast with a side of scrambled egg & bacon and the Elvis smoothie. Everything was very good. Smoothie came in a mason jar, which I love. You could probably serve me gasoline in a mason jar and I would love it. French toast was yum, egg & bacon were average. Staff was friendly and attentive. Prices are great, take a look at my receipt for specifics. I cannot wait to come back & try lunch or dinner!
