Montezuma Mexican Rest

I’ve had some really good times here. Never had a problem with the staff. Food is good and drinks are strong.

They had a singer on Friday night, he was pretty good.
Service could have been a little faster but not so bad. I ordered Margaritas and appetizers, they were good too.

Food was really good!
Service was below mediocre
Food runners were on point with serving water asking if we needed anything ⁴⁄₃₀ pm shift … Not once did our waitress come to ask if everything was okay. I mean… Hellerrrr I needed another cocktail… Bill could have been higher… But whatever.

Went to Montezuma on a Saturday to hear the live music (Tony Bravo). He is the only reason I am giving the restaurant 2 stars. He was excellent.
When we arrived «the only table» was one next to the entrance. However, as we walked in we saw various unoccupied tables and requested to sit closer until we ended up all the way in the front (next to the speaker). In my opinion, the table closer to the stage should’ve been the first one offered to us.
The restaurant is dark and very loud. It is not fancy and the décor is not appealing. The drinks were weak and the food was nothing to brag about. Tables and chairs are extremely close and you will undoubtedly hit the chair of the person behind you when getting up. We never got water and had to request some from the waitress who was very inattentive (probably because the place was packed).
The reason I am not going back to Montezuma is for the following reason. We decided to pay the check because one person in our party was leaving. The rest of us were going to stay a bit more just to hear the singer, who wasn’t going to sing much longer. After the tables were cleaned, the waitress, sent by the owner (who stood behind us as all this occurred) asked us to give up one of the tables, which we obliged. However, she took the table of 4 from us (a party of 3 at this point) and left us with a table for 2 ppl. Then, she sat 2 ppl at the table of 4. The owner intentionally made us uncomfortable in order for us to leave, which is exactly what we did. I understand completely that it is a business but part of building a good business is ensuring that customers are satisfied enough to return.
Owner was behind us as all this was occurring. If she had approached us in an amicable manner I probably would have returned, but she didn’t. She walks around the establishment very arrogantly.

Wasn’t a fan of this spot. Got a quesadilla and mint mojito. The mojito wasn’t strong at all and, in my opinion, in too small of a glass. I’m used to mojitos in glasses tumbler size or larger. The quesadilla was overwhelmed with cheese that it wasn’t enjoyable. I believe there was just too much cheddar. Our bartender was also inattentive and did not come off friendly or sociable. I had higher hopes for this place.

Food was edible but never very tasty. Service should of been better since we arrived early and the place was pretty empty considering.
Asked to add onions to an order that wasn’t done. Had to almost tackle the waiter for assistance. I also do not like having to ask for water. I consider water a bare minimum.
My wife and her family frequent here often. I’m hoping this was an isolated experience.

Lots of customers, good music, food was on point… tasted fresh and it had good flavor. Good portions, attentive staff… it was loud in there but everyone seemed to be having a good time…

The churrasco is amazing! The drinks are ok. Happy hour is awesome, ½ off drinks. The one big downfall is the loud music playing all night. Okay given the fact that this is a Latin atmosphere, the music was too loud. It was impossible to not only hear the waiter but the group of people I was with… even if you sit all the way on the other side of the live karaōke. I’ve given this place numerous chances and have finally given up, not worth the go.

First off this place has some amazing food. The ambience is great and my lady & me both enjoy going there. If I have any issues with the place it’s that it’s loud but it never really caused a issue with us talking while there. Other than that we haven’t been disappointed. Great place to dine.

love this place happy hour. I mean don’t go out of you way from Brooklyn to come here. BUT if you are in the area its good! the drinks are strong and cheap. the food is traditional Mexican not tex mex. would go back, tip was included in bill

Music super loud barely could hear when others are talking to you. Drinks are ok they could use better liquor.

Over priced drinks, may not be using top shelf liquor! The food lacks presentation, authenticity and taste. The best part was tri colored chips and great picante sauce. Will not be returning!

Too loud. Service is slow! Wings are like from frozen! Drinks are weak! Not coming back– it’s wack but I’m guessing people love the music aspect of it. It’s so loud you can’t hear your friends across the table. They think they’re a night club at 8:00 pm! C’mon Son!! Food is not tasty! Shrimp salsa Verde taste bitter. Skirt steak is tasteless!

Very nice restaurant with a lot of seating space. Not great fro a lot of huge group parties. Great drinks, liquor amount isn’t consistent but usually taste good. Great tacos as well! I enjoyed!

So disappointed in this neighborhood spot of mine (I literally live 2 blocks away). I went there tonight. They didn’t give my friend the food he ordered. They forgot about the beer I ordered. They added a gratuity and we were only 2 people! AND… to top it all off… when I accidentally left a bag (my bad — true) there whoever took it did not man up to it and the management said nothing!!! NOTHING!!! A TRUE DISAPPOINTMENT! WILL NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN GO THERE!!!

I went to this restaurant last night with my husband, we were not able to talk because the music was to loud but I was looking for something like that, well the Mexican food was not good the steak was yummy, the famous strawberry margaritas barely have tequila, I drank 5 like nothing another women next table was complaining about the lack of tequila on it. Food it’s quite expensive, my chips never arrived until I asked for it.
The ambiance its good for like a partyishh night.
I will recommend this place for hang out and listening to music while drinking.

I love this place went on a sat with friends enjoy the music if ur dominican and enjoy a spanish place this is where u wanna go sat nights plus the drinks were amazing … Place has hookah food drinks music love

I usually eat here and I always enjoy the food, the services and the ambience. The place has a warmth that allows you to feel at home and a sense of belonging.

The food is good but definitely over priced for the location.
The service was great, very attentive and intuitive.
The food was great. We all enjoyed our choices and were satisfied by the portions. They have great presentation and it all felt like a treat! their salsa was noticeably good!
The ambiance was torturous. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday, finding parking meant our party didn’t all sit down until almost 7pm. The lights were dimmed so badly by the time we were ready to order that we had to ask them to raise them. That helped but they were turned down again in the middle of our meal. Glad we were able to see what we were eating early on.
Then 9pm rolled around and a huge screen descended upon us. A dj began pumping out music so loud that we could no longer communicate comfortably. This was quickly followed by hookah smoking which was a huge turn off. It was like traveling back to 1999 when smoking was allowed and we went to shady establishments. Sadly we were no longer young and stupid so didn’t enjoy choking on smoke while trying to enjoy margaritas and grown conversation.
Overall this place has become a cliché people with tight jeans fill its seats to inhale toxic fumes while paying way too much for their meal. I hope they turn back the hands of time and refocus on serving good food for non smoking people.

Food was delicious, drinks were good but could use a little more light in the restaurant. I totally get the romantic ambiance but i could barely read the menu.
