Based in the previous reviews, I was apprehensive about trying this place but it was late and we didn’t want to drive around in search of food. So we decided to give it a shot. First, the service was excellent. We ordered the Cobb and sizzling shrimp and both were very good. Greens were crisp and fresh and dressing was light and tasty. Sizzling shrimp in butter sauce… Nuf said. I’ll definitely go back again.

I had driven past this place any times and finally stopped in. The menu looked appealing. My partner and I had a taste for hot wings and asked the server how they were. She said they were«great.» They had no beers on tap, and said they only had Sam Boston Lager in bottles, which was fine. We ordered 2, yet she brought us a Sam Maple Stout and Sam Irish Red. Not what we ordered but they were fine. She brought the wings, which were very over done, so much so that the meet was hard and dry. The server asked how they were. We responded honestly to which see said, «yeah, those didn’t look like our best.» Yet they were still on our bill. I had the oyster club, which tasted fishy in a bad way. I could only eat one quarter of it. I will not be returning.

Oh how we wanted to love Tavern 483… hoping to revive the days of the former Brookfield Bistro(a restaurant still way ahead of its time as compared to what is in town to this day) but it was a total disappointment. We only had a light meal but the total disrespect for food exhibited would preclude us giving it a second chance. We ate in the bar area and promptly had our drinks spilled by the server tableside. No big deal, accidents happen and they were replaced(and comp’d in the end which was nice). Bread and butter was delivered to the table but we had plates or utensils… so we «scooped» butter… which turned out to be completely off tasting and freezer burned. I got fish and chips… three small triangles of Van De Kamp’s frozen fish and frozen fries. Much better could have been found at a fraction of the cost down the street at Stew’s Hoedown. If this wasn’t bad enough… the meal came in a bowl lined with a cheap paper napkin… which promptly became soggy and the consistency of wet toilet paper. Yum! The tartar sauce was absolutely disgusting. It(or possibly the fish) immediately coated your mouth with a metallic feel. The other dish we had was the«lump crab cakes». The«chef» obviously has no idea what«lump crab» is… hint: it is not the finely shredded stuff in the frozen crab cakes you served us. And the use of mustard as a side for crab cakes? Maybe if it was a nice fresh mustard… but not the hot dog topping smeared on the plate.

Way too expensive for mediocre to bland food. Bar is extremely tiny and the atmosphere feels like you’re in a hotel lobby bar. Won’t be going back!

My husband and I plus 2 other couples had dinner at the Tavern last evening. The food was delicious and the service was very good. There were no complaints from our group about the food. We had the salmon, paella, fish tacos, fish & chips and oven roasted flounder. We will be returning and sharing this restaurant with more friends.

Fish and chips were fantastic. Pan seared and then tossed in the oven. Healthy way to do it. Owner on site. Nice guy.

They shouldn’t be allowed to call this place a «tavern.» Terrible service, mediocre food(at BEST) and took well over an hour for our food to arrive. There is NO beer on tap. so I don’t see how this place can be called a tavern. No IPAs, microbrews or anything remotely interesting. They had no drink menu what so ever, let alone any cocktail lists or anything. We ordered salads in addition to our meals(which were all just sandwhiches because everything else was overpriced) and they came WITH the meals after over an hour of waiting, not before like salad should. I got a tuna wrap which was teeny tiny and full of cheap, fishy, brown tuna. I could have had a equivalent at Subway for a hell of a lot cheaper. The waitress was very snotty when we pointed out that we had been waiting for ever and hadn’t even received a salad. She later gave us a free round of drinks, but at that point we all just wanted out. We should have got up and left after our 1st round of drinks and just left a 20 and gone some place worthwhile. I wouldn’t go back even if I had a gift certificate!

Mediocre food at high prices. The service was okay and the drink I ordered was stiff but not worth going back.

Overall: Gave it a try because we love new restaurants, but we definitely won’t be going back because the food was only mediocre and it took WAY too long to get it. Upon arriving(group of 4 for dinner on a Saturday night), no one greeted us at the door– granted, it was busy, but no one acknowledged us for about 10 minutes. We sat down and asked the waitress for the wine list, and she said they didn’t have a list. She then proceeded to rattle off the names of 10 different wines which was a little weird, since I’d much rather read the list. We ordered appetizers(artichoke fritters and steamed mussels), which took over an hour(yes, an HOUR) to come. The artichoke fritters were ok(nothing special), the green goddess sauce they came with was pretty good. The steamed mussels were way overcooked– they splintered when we tried to pop them out of the shells, and were rubbery. We waited even longer to get our entrees. The waitress knew that this was getting unreasonable, so she gave us a bottle of wine on the house right after our appetizers came out– but then we didn’t see her again for the next hour(yes, ANOTHER hour) until our entrees came. All other tables around us waited a very long time as well(we overheard several waitresses thanking patrons for their patience and giving food/drink on the house). When our food finally came out — two of us got the salmon, which was pretty good(moist, not overcooked). My husband got fish & chips, which he said was greasy. Portion size also looked very small. Food was ok, but certainly not worth the very long wait. We got the check and tried to use a 2-$ 25 gift certificates(thank you, 98Q half-price hookup, for at least giving me a discount on this terrible experience) and were told that we couldn’t use 2 gift certificates at the same time(only one). Since we knew at this point that we weren’t coming back, we asked the waitress to ask her manager to let us use both. She came back and told us that«under no circumstances» could we use it– kind of crappy in my opinion, since they knew we had waited a very, very long time for our meals and the right customer service move would have been to let us use them. In all, while this place is new and still working out the kinks, I’d still expect them to have reasonable customer service in light of crazy wait times and not be unapologetically bad. We won’t be going back.
