Overall looks nice, newly refurbished. The apartments on the Beacon St side are very very noisy as there is a T stop followed by a crossing light so each time the train stops you will hear very loud noises. Even if you are lucky enough to get the units on the other side, the noises from The heating system will drive you crazy. In the summer you going to have to buy and instal you own AC.

My boyfriend was hired to work as a maintenance person at the Sovereign and lasted all of 2 hours because of Lee Torey the manager. When you start a job and show up, you expect the person in charge, in this case, Lee Torey, to greet you and welcome you and show you around, maybe introduce you to the other employees well none of that happened except getting yelled at when he first showed up because he asked a tenant how to get to the office and apparently there is a strict«no talking to tenants» I repeat«no talking to tenants» so not off to a good start. Then he got called a f’n asshole and was told to go home because he was putting a lock on a door that did not fit, but attempted to do it anyway but Lee wasn’t happy and sent him home. We should have known the day before when we looked up the Sovereign and saw all these reviews that were aimed towards him and very nasty. I don’t know how they stay in business or get anything done with this guy as the manager. Good luck to the next tenant or employee that crosses his path!

This place does not even deserve one star. If there is a negative star it should get it. The building itself is fine and I do not disagree with the previous user. The staff and concierge are nice and the building is maintained fine. But the property manager is HELL. He makes everything good about the place just go to zero. If you are one of the lucky to people to not have a run in with him then maybe it is a fine place to live. But if some how you randomly get on his shit list i. e wear the wrong color of clothing one day(that is how crazy he is) it will bot be worth it. I say save some strife and just dont move in. Lee(the property manger) is a drunk, and CRAZY. Look at other reviews about this place and think twice before moving in.( Unilocal only has one review, but if you google it you can find more. I wish I had listened to the reviews before I moved in.)

WARNING: I wrote this review four years ago and as you can see from the more recent reviews, my experience seems to be unique. PLEASE do loads of research before you sign a lease and DONOT blame me for your housing problems. Thank you. i’ve lived in the sovereign for about 8 months and i’ve loved every minute of it. this is a 60s/70s built blonde brick building just 3 blocks west of coolidge corner. wood flooring in all apartments, huge double insulated windows, baseboard heating, regularly updated appliances. the building itself is really well maintained — we just got new carpeting in the hallways and the lobby area is rigorously maintained, has a community bookshelf and leather couches. amenity wise the building offers a small gym for $ 100 flat join fee, 2 parking garages $ 200 per month, a concierge service, new laundry facilities in the basement and 3 elevators. studios *start* at $ 1000 per month, so yes, it’s expensive. if i were staying in boston for another 7 years there’s no way i could afford it. but worth the money? definitely. the concierges are all nice dudes(and a lady) who are helpful and quick to respond to whatever your issue is. the only issues i ever had were when i moved in i had an ant problem(weird for an 8th floor studio) but it must have been from the previous tenants because after a few sprays of ant killer i’ve been ant free for 7 months. also — my drains are slow to empty. but i can deal. besides being a safe building it’s so convenient — right at the summit ave t stop on the C line, and a short walk from every restaurant and shop you could ever need. i know i sound like an ad for this building — but i have really loved it here.
