The food all looks like it’s supposed to be good but it is not. Flavorless, no special take on American/Italian dishes. Their meat tastes like it was in the freezer since ’92. If you’re over 65 and from around the neighborhood, I can definitely see why the food would appeal to you. However, anyone with an experienced palate would be quite disappointed with this old tasting food. 2 stars because at least they try.

Good variety of food at reasonable prices for a diner that’s been here for many years. The staff is friendly and helpful making it even more enjoyable. I’ve been going here for many years and will continue to do so for years to come.

Amazing restaurant with an even better ownership. Jimmy goes out of his way to make sure your food is on time and the way you like it. Should be called 5 star restaurant :)

If you call brand yourself as a 3, then you’ll have to be marked slightly lower for not meeting expectations. This was my «go to» neighborhood restaurant for a good burger and fries at a fair price(which it still is.) Most recently, we came in and was given cold sliced Italian bread as we decided to order. We had to ask for the warm garlic-buttered-toasted bread we so happily remember this restaurant as! More then one utensil and plate also appeared to be questionable in cleanliness. The food remains fairly good as well as the service, but the experience presents a certain«tiredness.» We had to ask for ketchup, a change of plate, and a missing side dish…JUST pick it up a notch guys!

This diner has been owned and run by the same family for decades. I used to live off Avenue U(around the corner). I still get my haircut in the neighborhood. So after getting my hair done I stopped by an old fav, the Three Star, for a late breakfast. You can get breakfast there at any time. I ordered simple scrambled eggs with bacon, toast, and coffee. I enjoyed the home-fries which were not greasy and very tasty. The food is excellent, service also great. The menu is extensive. In my experience the food always really good. Hospitality wonderful.

Placed an order, waited an hour, received order, all the food was cold. Mind you, this place is three blocks away from the delivery address, which would have to mean that the food stood there waiting to be delivered. Not only was the food cold but when I called to complain all she did was tell me that they’ll send me another order but we’d have to wait. I DIDMYWAITING! 12YEARSOFIT! I asked for a refund and for them to come get the food. Never ordering from here again.

Absolutely the worst french toast ever!!! NASTY The ham steak was so thick and also had a weird texture. The orange juice had pulp which I hate. so after sending back the French Toast I ordered eggs with the home fries it should be called«boiled potatoes». If you like a good breakfast don’t bother with this place.

Worst breakfast ever. Do not order home fries. It’s just boiled potatoes sliced thinly without any seasoning(and really dry from lack of oil). I ordered corn beef hash that had a funky taste and slimy texture. The scrambled eggs were unimpressive. I can make scrambled eggs better than the cook. The bacon strips were thin and transparent. Never coming back for breakfast. Three stars is definitely more like a 1 star restaurant.

I’m giving 3 Star 4 stars because for the genre of good diners this is a great one. The old school rules here with the senior set running the show. My mom’s old friend recommends this spot to me. Big with booths. Lots of dinner specials but I went a la carte. Ate: Cup of clam chowder-$ 2.50 Small salad Baked clams ½ doz– $ 9 Now the chowder was Manhattan with a pleasant flavor. The soup was good and crunchy with raw salad. The clams were yeasty too and they gave me an extra one. All in all a local star on Ave U.

The food here is typical diner food in a nicer environment and atmosphere. The waiters are really attentive and your cup of coffee or tea is never empty because they’re quick to refilling your cup. It’s great for brunch for those days you wake up way past the morning hour and you need a filling meal for the rest of the day!

The service is very good! The food is always yummy and fresh! I always love getting the special meals that include the main dish, soup or salad, drink, and dessert! I love the frozen yoghurt there even though I only had one flavor which is the cappuccino! I also love the fresh cole sole and garlic bread! I recommend this place to anyone that wants really good diner like place to eat!

My family’s been coming to this place for ages and we’ve always been treated well. The staff here are practically family themselves, and we’re always greeted warmly when we come in. I recommend asking for their specials, as Steve occasionally experiments with new dishes. He offered us his latest creation last time we came in: authentic Greek yogurt with Greek honey, granola, strawberries, blueberries, and mandarins. It was amazing! Ask him for it next time you come in and see if you can convince him to get it up on the menu!

I came here for brunch with a group of people. We were seated and given water/coffee, a basket of bread, and pickles and coleslaw quickly but sat for about 25 minutes until someone came and took our order. They offer a decent lunch menu with many options, and ordering from that menu you will also receive a soup/salad, and dessert for a cheap price. I ordered the chicken noodle soup & the chicken quesadilla that came with a small order of fries. The chicken noodle soup was okay. My quesadillas were disgusting, they were lukewarm, had cold lettuce and tomato in them, and the cheese was barley melted, and the sour cream on the side was watery. The fries were actually really good. I went into the bathroom, and I think it was the dirtiest bathroom I’ve ever been in, I didn’t even use it. The 3 stars is more than deserved, but the staff was very friendly, and the people I was with are frequent visitors of three star, so maybe I was there on an off day.

Excellent service and great food. Me and my wife enjoyed the meals we ate everything and it was a shock to us because when we try new food we hardly eat everything but this time we finished it all and took some to go for our family to try as well. My best part was not only being with my one and true love, it was also the unlimited chick peas, their so good. I would recommend everyone to come here to enjoy a relaxing feast.

I love the service here — it’s great! The waiters are dressed in fancy tuxedos and you really do feel like you’re in a fancy restaurant. The waiters are very attentive and are friendly! I like the wide variety of Italian dishes. I ordered the well done burger with fries and it tasted great! I like that they don’t skimp out on the amount of lettuce(they give you a big portion) — Same goes for the fries. :) I also ate cheesecake, which tasted phenomenal. Also, I recommend the lobster bisque soup — it’s delicious. I like how 3 Star Restaurant starts off by serving complimentary pickles, coleslaw(my favorite), and crackers. I’ve been here twice and I will make sure to stop by again! :)

This is a decent diner — I really appreciated the amount of menu options. Tons of seafood dishes to choose from. You also get a hearty amount of food. Before you order, they bring you bread and butter, little cups of seasoned chickpeas, pickles, carrot sticks. The service was decent but not great. The waiter asked you what vegetable side you wanted, as if you were supposed to just know what they offered. You had to ask him what they had as opposed to him just telling you. That annoyed me a bit. Still, the staff was very nice though. The food? Hit or miss. You have to know what to order. Some items were very good like the grilled octopus and the baked clams. Oh and the buffalo wings are surprisingly great — didn’t expect that! Also, stole a couple shrimp from my boyfriend’s steak and shrimp scampi — the shrimp were great — succulent and fresh. Others were just meh. My lobster bisque was pretty dull — needed to add salt to even remotely enjoy it. My chicken sampler was also just OK. My mashed potato side was dry. My broccoli side had black spots in some areas. My boyfriend’s sweet potato side was just a huge sweet potato — it was cooked but still entirely whole, unpeeled and had hairy sprouts sticking out of it. Not very appetizing and pretty crude. Oh and the dessert was a hit — very good cheesecake.

I’ve been here since I was a kid. One of the few American restaurants left in a predominantly Asian area. I’ve seen this place expand and become more wonderful throughout the years. Sure there are plenty of old people, but lots of families too. It’s great for a family breakfast or brunch or lunch. I’ve never been here for dinner but I’m sure it’s great. The service is very friendly. I’ve been here so many times that they know my family and are always enthusiastic. Plus they’re always dressed in tuxedos! The prices are much cheaper than el Greco, not to mention much more family friendly without all the nasty teenagers. The food is great, huge portions and lots for your buck. Like any diner food, not too much taste, but I forgive them because this has always been the go to for my family.
