I tried this place three times and this is my first review. Went there yesterday to get 1 lb sprinkle cookies to bring to a x-mas lunch. Told the guy 1 lb sprinkle cookies. When the box of cookies was opened at the luncheon, there were a lot of sprinkle cookies, but I guess to ‘make the pound’ this guy tossed in two plain cookies. He could have shown or asked me to add more or leave the weight alone. It was embarrassing to have two oddball plain cheap cookies sitting in a box of ‘better cookies’ Like another reviewer stated, everything looks better than it tastes and I’m in agreement that I think some of the baked goods sit around too long and just get old and stale. I won’t be back.

You may not believe this, but we «import» their Italian Seeded bread to California! My husband is originally from Brooklyn. Now and then he returns on business or for visiting family. Every time he does, he packs our«bread bag» — a collapsible duffle — which he can fill with 36 pre-ordered loaves of bread! He picks up the bread on the way to the airport and I am ready at the other end(here in L.A.) with plastic wrap, aluminum foil and a good amount of space in the freezer. Invariably there is always one half eaten loaf which hubby can’t resist in flight. Sure it’s not as great as fresh, but we enjoy our«imported» Italian for several weeks. It freezes well. So, like San Francisco sour dough(which I was raised on) there is nothing like the real deal and A & S Bakery is the place to go. Better than Italy!

Came by to break a $ 20 to do laundry next door. My eyes blew open when we saw all of the delectable goodies here! Little Black and White cookies, lemon drops with glaze OMG! Even pizza… Their baked goods look amazing but they don’t taste that way. Tasted like I had week old baked goods or something was off with their batter mixture. Too much flour or not enough egg/milk in the batter. Super cheap though!

This place has been around a long time and brings back memories of JHS for me. When I scrimped and saved up a couple bucks from my weekly lunch allowance to get their delicious, large focaccia bread with sauce, heated up. My parents have been getting their bowties here for years and now I am the friend who brings them to BBQs, get togethers or whatever! Over the years, like all places, the prices have changed, but they are definitely reasonable. The bakery mainly sells cookies and breads and they do wholesale distributing as well. Going to be swinging by again really soon! :)

Bought a container of these cookies in a grocery store in Westport Connecticut because they looked so pretty. Retuned to Colorado with my cookies and wish I had bought more of them. The cookies are delicious and I have been rationing them so that they will last longer. I wish they sold there cookies online.

I’ll admit I haven’t stepped foot inside the actual A&S Bakery, but they DO supply their scrumptious rainbow cookies to the Stile’s Farmer Market on 52nd that I frequent. The cookies are moist and just the right hint of chocolate. $ 3.75 for 12 cookies is well priced in my book!
