I came here on a Sunday for brunch with some of my relatives. As expected, places like these are usually packed when we arrived around noonish. The different food they were serving had some real inconsistencies. Some were nice and hot and tasted great while others were mediocre and cold. You really didn’t know what your were going to get when you pick something out to eat. The atmosphere was alright, the servers who pushed the food carts around were a little pushy in serving their food despite us telling them we weren’t interested. Overall, this would’t be the first place that comes to mind if I’m looking for a Dim Sum place to eat at, but it would not be a place I’d avoid at all cost.

This place is one of the best AUTHENTIC dim sum places in NYC. Be sure to come early in the morning to get all of the different dishes. Its noisy, packed, bustling and the dan tats are phenomenal.

The positives: the food is great and all really flavorful and well-prepared, and I definitely recommend the shrimp options and the oolong tea. There are SO many food options and there’s a lot of seating available. The negatives: This place is SUPER crowded — you will barely have any space to walk and the entire downstairs area smells like smoke, and the dishes aren’t very well cleaned. I’d still recommend coming here, but be a little flexible.

We came here on a Saturday night for a 100 day baby celebration. It took place in a private room towards the back of the restaurant. The area is a bit sketchy — really dark with a gas station and some warehouse looking buildings interspersed with some restaurants here and there. I honestly would not drive here alone at night. Anyways, we were able to find street parking around the corner pretty easily. There are residential brownstones a few blocks in and parking seems to be a nightmare there so I wouldn’t even bother trying. And again, the seedy neighborhood feeling with such a long walk would also deter me. The dinner started at 6, but good didn’t come out until 7:30ish. As this was a kids celebration, there were at least 20⁄25 kids under 5⁄6 there so it was pretty loud. The food came out in quick succession, which was great, and their portions are massive. We had only 6 adults at our table with pre-schoolers making up the other 5 seats so we had so much leftovers that we had to start packing the food away since there was nowhere to put the new dishes coming out. We had cold shrimp salad, sweet and sour taro ribs, sweet and sour pork, steak, lobster, scallops and calimari, steamed fish, crispy chicken, Peking duck, rice and noodles… And there’s probably more that I can’t remember. It was an insane amount of food. And the food all tasted great. With the exception of the steak coming out cold, all of our dishes were served piping hot. The waiters were very helpful and patient with us as we requested for things again and again, plus they had to weave in and out of all the kids running around which is no small feat. The back room fit about 13 tables comfortably including a cake table, a sign in table and a candy bar table, so I would say this space could potentially hold up to 150 adults. Hubby also decided to buy some roast duck and roast pork to take home. Wish we had this kind of authentic tasting Cantonese food in our ‘hood!

The restaurant is split into two sides, the main dining room and a private event area. Though I feel the food is a tad Americanized, it actually tastes pretty good. The shrimp salad was fresh and crisp, peking porkchops were a bit more vinegary than your usual but I love vinegar so I had no problems with that, snowpeas were crunchy and sweet, lobster was meaty and garlic fried, and the longevity noodles and and fried rice were excellent as well. From my experience, brooklyn chinese food isn’t all that great but this was good!

I am a regular customer for not the reason you think. They serve sell the best Peking Duck in Brooklyn which is why I am buying it every 3 weeks to take home. I have also had dim sum here a few times which is good, but not the best. They charge $ 3.50 per item and offer a great variety of things to try. Get here between Noon &1pm on the weekend when the most variety is offered. A bonus tip is that you can park at the supermarket parking lot on 64th St for free as long as you purchase something in the supermarket. You can eat at the restaurant and then stop at the supermarket to buy some produce afterwards.

CORRECTION: ZEROSTARS! WARNING they are extremely RACIST. I am Chinese, but this Chinese establishment will not serve you if you have even a single non-Chinese person in your party. Tonight we were seated before 8pm and waited 45 minutes before we could even call a waiter over. We had purposely called the same guy who took our order to find out what happened. My mom has medicine she needed to take and needed to eat first. Between the four of us, we drank nearly 3 full pots of tea without food. Surely, something was wrong. After noticing a whole hour had passed, we had enough. We even noticed that another larger table who were seated shortly after we complained about the delay had already received their food! It was brought out to them 10 minutes after they had sat and ordered. We timed it because we were anxiously waiting for our food. They did not even put our order in for the kitchen to cook when we were walking out. These people had no consideration. Good thing we knew the neighborhood and knew a place that was still willing to serve us so late! Now, racism is one thing, but the utter disrespect is another. Do not take our order or even seat us if you don’t intend to fulfill it. This is an unprofessional establishment. This place needs to go back to China if they only want to serve Chinese people. Their actions make me feel embarrassed to call myself Chinese. There is better food out there than to tolerate this nonsense. If you still decide to give them a shot, maybe you can tolerate the racism and disrespect, but I expect a little more from establishments who open their doors to run a legit business. I prefer to give my money to an establishment who would appreciate it. If you want a delicious Chinese restaurant to eat, there’s a great spot not far from them on 65th street. My point is, anywhere is better then the treatment from this place. Also, there was no system in terms of «having your waiter or waitress» assist you like they do in other establishments. This place seems very unorganized from the vast amount of time they had given us to find all the flaws in their establishment. Unilocal needs to create a warning button for terrible establishments like this.

I headed to 8th Avenue in the Sunset Park /Greenwood section of Brooklyn to share a Chinese food experience with my wife and kids. My wife and I had been there a couple of weeks earlier and went to some hole in the wall dive with no English anywhere, and had a great meal of soup, dumplings and mei fun for a whopping bill of $ 13.50. Intending to repeat this for the kids we headed off to Brooklyn. After running out of gas next to a double parked car, we were just hungry and stopped in at Bamboo Garden. I wish we had stuck with our plan. Instead of authentic Chinese made from parts of animals we would not usually eat and getting it for $ 20 or so, we had a mediocre meal that didn’t compare with our local Chinese take out. If you’re thinking about it, walk down 5 blocks and pick any of the hundreds of local places where the Chinese folks eat, save a bundle, and have better food.

Ok Cantonese restaurant in 8th Ave. I’ve been here for dimsum and for dinners before and I usually leave satisfied. The décor is great! There is a lot of seating available at the numerous round tables and I like how the windows have drapes as well. Plates are not the cleanest but definitely pass my health inspection lol. Service is a little inattentive but they are fairly nice. Most of the food that we got was alright. The sweet and sour spare ribs and the fried tofu tasted very standard. The garlic chicken was a little on the dry side but the flavor was good. I was not a fan of the steak and broccoli because the sauce was a little on the salty side. Our dinner ended up being $ 70 for 4 people, which I would say is typical for dinner at Cantonese restaurants. The food tasted very average but I left feeling very satiated so that’s a plus. They also give complimentary watermelon slices and tong sui at the end of your meal! Overall, a good Cantonese restaurant that will leave you satisfied.

I’m not sure why I never wrote a review for this restaurant. I go here so often! They changed chefs a few times and I must admit, it was better when it first opened. They had so many creative dim sum dishes and now they just serve the usual, which isn’t bad. I’m not sure of all the names in English or Chinese of what I like. I just point to it when I’m there. Besides the dim sum, I have favorite dinner dishes too and again, I just point to. Sorry! I uploaded some pictures of some of my usual orders which I totally recommend! There’s not much negatives about the food here. The ambiance is like your typical Chinese restaurant — loud and crowded!

This is my favorite dim sum restaurant. I’ve been coming here for years now. After a little brunch, I like to go next door to Feilong and do some grocery shopping. Even if we are seated at our table, we can’t order any food because the waiter takes forever to give us our order paper. He takes even longer to serve us the tea. The food is quite lacking now. They’re not what I remembered it to be. The dishes are getting smaller too.

I’ve been frequenting this restaurant for both dim sum and dinner for many years. I prefer going for dim sum. Dim sum-If you come before 1pm on a weekend, expect to wait for about 15mins for a table. Try to sit in the front room. Service is quick: refilling tea pot, clearing the table… Dim sum is solid here. The flavor and prices are good. The dim sum goes quickly once it is on a cart, which is why you should sit in the front room as the ladies always make their rounds in the front room first. My favorites are the har gau, Lau sa bao, sui mei and durian pastry. Dinner-the prices are extremely reasonable, but at times, the dishes could be a hit or miss. The Peking duck sliders are really good, and cost less then $ 30. A waiter slices the duck at your table. Don’t order the cold jelly fish, cuttlefish, ham appetizer– not worth the price.

I wish I could lower the rate, but the food has is somewhat decent, other times it is just wrong. I will explain why I want to lower even further later on, sorry, but«no T, no shade.» Whenever I am in Brooklyn to meet with family, they usually go here for dinner for family gathering. I been here a couple of times with them. Usually we get the half garlic chicken or the salt and pepper pork chops, which are okay when it is not overcooked or extremely dry and tough to munch on. There seafood are not bad either: the lobster was very succulent and the steam fish was prepared well. The vegetables dish are delicious, but sometimes the chefs/cooks put too much oil and it ruins the taste and texture. Now the reason why I am giving this place a low rate, because when I went to the bathroom to do my business, I saw the staff of the restaurant coming out of the bathroom without washing their hands TWICE, which was right wrong. The first time was the was the chef/cook, which I though he washed his hands in the kitchen for the benefit of the doubt or the fire will probably cleanse the food and the other time was one of my family’s waiters who took a dump and walked out and not even rinse water own his hands. After that scenario, I couldn’t dare take another bite, I couldn’t bear to tell the family, because we were in the middle of having a good time. Most likely, I will be there again for another family gathering, but if I see another staff member do that action again it will go down to one star.

I came in 2 weeks before Mother’s Day to make a reservation for dinner on Saturday, May 9th. I figured that it was going to be busy. it’s best to do it earlier rather than wait a few days before to reserve a table. I took a peek of their reservations book and saw that a few people had already made reservations. When I got to the place, there was a wedding reception going on… O_o It was in the main room. They also had a smaller room towards the back of the restaurant and that’s where we and all the other non-wedding guest patrons sat. There were about 12 – 15 tables in the smaller room. The host/manager said we were early and our table wasn’t ready. We arrived at 6:55ish. My reservation was for 7pm. then he said something to my mom about needing to vacate our table by 8:30…he said it in Chinese, so I didn’t really understand him. My mom asked me again if I made the reservation, I said yes. My mom got annoyed that they were trying to rush us out. We were also waiting for the rest of our family members to arrive. I told my mom to relax and eff it, we’re going to take our time. We ordered our food and everything was fine… they didn’t say anything to us. The food was fine. Typical Chinese food. We ordered the usual, mayo shrimp, young chow fried rice, yee mein, beef chow fun, salt baked pork chop, chicken, dao miu, in addition to some other dishes. This was our 2nd time dining at this restaurant… we had no issue when we came the 1st time back in February…

I haven’t write much since my last review but here’s a place I have to voice my opinion. This place is pack with old people or babies’ on a Saturday morning. Not 11am dimsum time for more of you people but we are talking about 9AM; before the time for that 1 hour line. If you get up early, you can find a seat here or pretty much anywhere for dimsum. The reason I won’t suggest this place just the fact there are so many other good better place. The food is packed with MSG here and I left with a really bad taste in my mouth. I won’t even go into the health expect of a supposed clean Saturday morning. in term of variety, there are a few good specialty here and there but nothing special. They don’t have that special table that they make food on the spot. Over all, it’s affordable and clean for all I know. You don’t want to visit the kitchen or see whoever made your food in a Chinese restaurant. Have fun.

Roasted meats on rice and dim sum if you like. Great place to stop in and grab a quick cheap lunch. The roast pork is delicious. The pork and shrimp shu mai were very good. Quick and friendly typical meat hanging style place.

We came with a group of 8 for dim sum on a Sunday, and had no wait. How, you say? We came at 10am, that’s how. Only way to get a guaranteed table without a long wait on a weekend morning. Parking is not going to be easy in this area either so good luck with that. Otherwise, the food is standard dim sum food, service standard. There are actually a lot more carts here than what I’m used to seeing at other restaurants.

Got a tip to come here and try the Peking duck from a friend. They were out of Peking Duck unfortunately. Doh! I came around the holidays and they were packed. Seating was chaotic. The guy in charge of seating guests seemed out of it and we had to flag his attention several times and tell him we wanted to wait for a table before he finally put us on the list. The food was not bad but I wasn’t blown away. We had a steamed flounder, which was not bad — meaty though the taste was a bit lacking. HK style steak was a bit rough and hard to chew. The banquet style noodles with crab meat was good. Probably the highlight of our meal. I was impressed that they seem to have a large and creative menu. I’ll be back for sure and hopefully have a better meal next time.

Come here at least twice a week with family. I like this place more than the ones around this area. The prices are about since theres like 3 other dim sum restaurants within a 4 – 5 block radius. Haven’t seen this in the neighboring places, but they have this red date gelatin like dessert, which I order every time I’m here. Also, they have specials on their peking ducks, only from Sun-Thurs, for about $ 18. Overall, it’s good dim sum here!
