Borough Restaurant and Bar

Skirt steak and eggs for brunch is excellent. I returned less than a week later to have it again. I would rate it as quite a few steps above what you’d expect at a diner — the menu is basic but it hits the spot with flying colors. The service is fine. It’s a bit cave-​like during the day, with the dark walls and heavy curtains but I suppose that warms up for the evening.

If I was judging this restaurant on just the food, It would definitely get a 4. However the service was deplorable. When we walked in (party of 6), the server acted as if she was bothered that we came. There was only one person sitting at the bar at the time. We waited over 40 minutes for our order. The dishes from the appetizers stayed on the table until we left. The waitress/​server did not come and check on the table not one time. When I called the waitress on her service she became argumentative. She refused to tell me the owners name. She said that his name was six and he never comes to the restaurant. If you think that service is important to your dining experience, DON’T eat here!

The lamb chops in mushroom sauce are terrible. They arrived completely overcooked to a rubbery consistency and had that old musty smell that lamb does when it’s not fresh. The sauce tasted like canned gravy with a few slices of mushroom floating in it. The mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables were tasteless.
For $ 19 I shouldn’t have been delivered gross, cafeteria quality food.

I’ve tried, I really have. This place is barely three stars to begin with, food is mediocre, price is better, but the service is consistently garbage. There are several reasons why I won’t return here but I’ll list the most recent.
I Placed a delivery order via seamless. I live literally 3 blocks away. After the hour of my expected delivery time had past I dialed the restaurant to find out what the deal was. The waitress said my food was there, they were waiting for the delivery guy to return and it should go out next. Fine, I decide to exercise some patience, 30 mins later my patience was done. I decide to pick up my food. In an empty bar of all but 3 people, I have to get the waitress attention b/​c I guess ignoring your patrons is standard service protocol there. I find out the delivery guy has been back and left already yet my food is still in the back. I ask why my food was not sent out and she says b/​c it just came out which was clearly a lie b/​c you confirmed my address and order 30 mins ago when I called. I tell the waitress I want fresh fries b/​c after this long I’m sure the fries are cold, of course on par she has an attitude about it. till late do often times I call ahead for pick up.
This place always has some issue. From messed up orders, missing/​wrong deliveries, absent minded staff. This place can never hold on to a server/​waiter more than a month or two so that right there should tell you about the quality of this establishment. Save yourself some irritation and pick another restaurant.

I’ve had beef quesadilla, borough & cajun burgers as well as crab cakes there. I almost teared up when I first bit off their burger — so darn good. Owner joked that it’s «made with love». I’d say good skills and fresh ingredients, and really good cooking timing I bet. They know ow to treat the patty well.
They also have a bar area with good selection of alcohol.
Now that I have moved on from bed-​stun, I really really miss the burger there… Hope all is well!

Ate dinner there at 10pm and it was a disappointing meal. Between us two people we ordered their self titled burger the Cajun fries and sunset fajitas. All of the food tasted like it was either frozen canned or prepackaged food that had been heated and served.

For those that don’t know as I write this its Kelsey’s last day I just died a little inside. Now don’t shy away from this venue because she’s gone, Chevon is there and will help you with all your happy hour needs.
The happy hour is great (have the $ 6 Bloody Mary…$ 6!) although the food isn’t priced for happy hour it’s delicious.
My guest had the BYOB and it was made to perfection, I decided on the Blackened Catfish Wrap… loved it.

I ate dinner and had the salmon grilled, mashed potatoes and vegs. It was wonderful and so reasonably priced! I don’t live in Brooklyn and maybe they rate things differently, but many reviews said everything was wonderful but gave it 4 stars or even 3. I wish this restaurant was where I lived… Great happy hour. Excellent service too. Will be back soon.

Came here for the $ 5 happy hour with a friend because it’s right down the street from me! We ordered two margaritas, one Cranberry, one pineapple. I also had a mimosa, which was pretty good. Haven’t tried the food here yet, but I will update my review when I do!

It’s hard to fully comment on a bar when the bar is broken, but I’ll try. I came on a weeknight to discover the tap was not working. At all.
That being said, the bartender was really nice and tried to make the bottled beer experience as great as it can be — frosted glasses and friendly service.
Cool layout, looks like a tasty food menu — I’ll be back and trust the tap will be overflowing once more.

I’ve been ordering takeout here ~2 times a week for the past year and have never once been disappointed. It’d be easy to say that’s because I live on the same block but frankly the quality and consistency of everything I’ve had has been top notch.
Love coming in here for a beer and chatting with the awesome bartenders while waiting for my food. Try the BLT, quesadillas, steak wrap and crab cakes. Hell, try it all. Love this place!

I ordered take out, my roomate recommended the place. Food here is awesome. Jerk chicken and chocolate lava cake are delicious. Mashed potatoes were done right with a lil skin.

Came here a couple weeks ago with some friends. My food was great, I had blackened catfish sandwich it was amazeballs!!! I also had margaritas which were made very well, one and a half and my friend had to drive cuz i was drunk and I’m not a light weight ! Overall very pleased and looking forward to returning.

Surprisingly awesome. I was expecting your usual bar food but the chicken sandwich and spicy fries blew my mind. It was an amazing option for lunch. Staff is super friendly too. Thanks guys!

This place has really delicious quesadillas. They are huge, inexpensive, and absolutely filled with meat. My bottomless pit stomach can’t even finish an entire one. Last summer my boyfriend and I ordered quesadillas from here frequently. Now he lives a block away… we will be here many times.
UPDATE: we went here to eat, instead of our usual takeout. I got a Cobb salad, he got a steak wrap. Both delicious. I even liked the fries, and I hate fries.

Super slow service, but staff was very friendly. Warm water. Gross-​looking sausages and mediocre stock-​brunch food. It’s fine for being convenient, but for just a few more dollars you could have amazing brunch at R&D.

Borough is probably one on my favorite new restaurants and the fact that it is in walking distance from my house makes it even more of a gem.
I’ve been here tons of times, celebrated my birthday here, came for brunch, dinner, whatever you can think of and it’s always great!!!
The food never disappoints and the bartenders are awesome!

Great place.
The food is amazing. I’ve had the goat cheese salad, chicken quesadillas, fried calamari and more. Everything I’ve had has been really REALLY good.
Not to mention a weekend long Happy Hour with $ 4 well cocktails, $ 5 margaritas and a large brunch selection. It’s definitely one of my favorite places in the neighborhood!

Every now and then I come to this place, I’ve had the lamb chops, the salmon and the Cobb salad with extra of Grilled Shrimps and every time I’ve been happy about the meal and service.
I really recommend this place.

Got here about 9:30pm. No one else was here and I was a bit taken aback and hoped it wasn’t because of bad food or bad anything … But, I was game as my friend who lives in the area recommended this place.
Nice ambience, with the candles and overhead lighting. I found the music a bit too loud and upbeat but from the look of things, it’s a pub first restaurant after. *shrugs*
Immediately Kelsey the Hostess/​Waitress/​Bartender was at our service. This lady is amazing! Her attitude is contagious because we were tired and very hungry but her spirit awakened us. Too bad some others in the service industry cannot pay this place a visit and «catch» what she has.
Apparently we were their good luck charm because others started coming in after we ordered. Or maybe this is just THE SPOT after a certain hour.
My friend ordered the lamb chop with sautéed spinach and garlic mash potatoes. I got the Atlantic Salmon, string beans and garlic mash (go see my pictures please)
The food tasted heavenly. I tasted the sautéed spinach and it was great ‘cept I found it to be a bit salty but two points to consider, I dislike salt (and too much sugar) and this was my first taste of spinach so maybe that’s how it’s prepared.
The price is worth the 15 minutes give or take wait for the food to come out.
I recommend this spot, tell them Freedom sent you. I don’t know these people personally nor do they know me but hey! It’s worth a shot right lol

Buena comida al igual que la atención y un precio bien razonable, servicio rápido ! Buena experiencia. Pero en mi segunda visita quise probar con una Hamburger y la verdad no estaba nada buena la carne tiene un sabor y textura q no fue de nuestro agrado. La atención continuo siendo buena.
