Place is amazing! Can be a bit expensive so you need to plan ahead for that. Great date spot. Clam Chowder and Crab rolls are bangin!

My boyfriend and I came here in October for a date night and I have to say it was one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. We sat on the upper deck and because it was the fall I was afraid it would be too cold to sit outside. But they had heaters on the whole deck and also had complementary blankets to give to guests who are still chilly. I’ve never seen a restaurant do that before and I was so impressed by their customers are of us. We order appetizers and I decided I wanted a cocktail. Nothing on the drink menu looked particularly interesting to me but I explained to my waitress that I prefer something with mango, orange and Vodka the bartender promptly mixed up one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had, not too strong, not too weak and specifically made for my taste. Food was delicious and came quickly, our waitress was pleasant and sweet. We also enjoyed that we were still able to play my first ever round of minigolf even though it was fall and most places would have stopped access to something like that. It was a Date night to remember, Thank You Brooklyn Crab!

5 stars for a summer day visit note — if you r a party of more than 2, there’ll b a wait but if you r flying solo or w a buddy you’ll dive through to the bar make sure your fingers are clean and ready to peel some shrimp to dip into that old bay happy place specially on a sunny day

I had the po boy. The shrimp was super fresh though the sauce was just ok, though I guess it’s not fair to compare it with the po boys I ate in new orleans. We sat upstairs which was really cool. Windows all around for a terrific feel. They open it up in the warm weather. Lots of seating upstairs also. Great place to bring a group of friends and hang out. Be warned –they don’t give you actual plates. You serve yourself with the paper plates found on each table. I didn’t mind that because it keeps their prices down, but the pates are a bit flimsy and you have to double up. Something a bit stronger would make it a more enjoyable experience. Four stars for food but one star for the plates.

Pros: service was great. There’s really nice views. This would be a great place in the summer because they have outdoor 2 leveled patio seating. Cons: THEPRICES!!! They are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced for what you get. I ordered a crab pot which was $ 42 it came with one cluster of snow crab, ½ cluster of Dungeness crab and literally one king crab leg(not a cluster just one leg) with 1 ear of corn cut in half. I also ordered a fishbowl rum punch that was also very small for the price of $ 27.

Came here for lunch during the Summer, nice to be able to eat outside on their roof deck. Décor is simple, like any seafood shack’ ish style… with benches and big umbrella. We had the«oyster of the day» — couldn’t remember the origin but pretty sure it’s Long Island… these were very sweet! Also got the blue crab roll(generous w their blue crab!) The blue crab was sweet, fresh and thankfully no shells! And a big bucket of Alaskan King Crab legs. The spice mix was ok, cajun? wasn’t spicy but did lack some flavor. The corn was very sweet. Service was good — got our sodas right away and kept us in the loop of when the food is coming out. Overall, worth the visit and a little on the pricier side for lunch(ok a lot pricier). When in Red Hook, swing by! Happy feasting!

Came here with my wife and a friend and we were seated in the upstairs indoor section. There’s a great view of the water and Manhattan. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered mussels for an appetizer and they were some of the best I’ve had. The white wine and butter sauce is spot on. The portion was also generous. My wife and I ordered the fish and chips. It was pretty good, the beer batter has that delicate yet crispy/crunchy texture you want and the fish was tender and flaky. The fries were good, but there were wayyyyy too many fries and only two pieces of fish. I had trouble finishing the fries and I usually eat like a pig. Also there was no ketchup at our table. I would definitely love to come back here again in the warmer weather for dinner or just for drinks when I visit my friend in Red Hook again. Great vibes.

this place is all about the views. the food is mediocre, the drinks are expensive and the ambiance is just eh. but the views during sunset… incredible food is either fried or boiled. nothing special. seafood is fresh however the shrimp i got in my steamer pot seemed frozen«peel and eat shrimp» shells were mushy, heads were goo, and the meat inside was rubbery. as a fellow asian i pride myself on knowing fresh seafood. this most certainly was not. to be honest the best meal was my kids fried gulf shrimp meal(3 large shrimp and fries for $ 6) the raw oysters were good, no grit, the fried oyster special $ 15 for 5 was expensive, looked fancy but taste wise fell flat. service is good and attentive, prices are absurdly high for the quality of the food you receive. but all in all i enjoyed it. would i be back? probably not.

It has taken me a very long time to write this review: I have gone to this place over a dozen of times; what is not to love. The first time I went was because of the reviews and I’m a huge fan of seafood so if you are as well this is the place to go! The pros: 1. Food is ALWAYS fresh 2. The staff is friendly and pleasant 3. Great seelction 4. They have a Oyster fest in September 5. Love the Zeiboot and the Bloody breuklen – My top favorite Drinks; they also have a great selection of wine 6. The place is huge 7. Majority of the time the wait isn’t bad i think once I had to wait 30 mins at the most Cons: NONE! Go enjoy and have fun!

Amazing location. Second floor outdoor seating gives great summer outdoor vibes. Bar downstairs with arcade games. Drinks are great. Food is mediocre. It wasn’t the freshest seafood. Lobster was the best out of all. The clams and oysters were tiny. Price is high for the amount of food we got. Will come back for drinks and maybe order fish and chips instead.

The place itself is cool and fun, but I don’t really see the hype. It’s hard to get to, and it’s kind of like any cheesy Joe’s Crab shack up and down any coast line in any city in anywhere. The only difference is that it’s more expensive. We got their crawfish boil. I was with some people from New Orleans, and I have had them at other places a few times myself. I don’t know if they put the pot of water at the gates of hell or something, but they were soooooooooo over cooked, that it was a joke. They should have never been served. They were bone dry and falling apart in our hands. I jokingly peeled one and dropped it on the table and it bounced. It had no flavor. We were starving, we’re not that picky of eaters, no one ate the crawfish. The sandwiches were uninspired. The dungeons crab sandwich was room temperature crab. shredded to hell, the bread seemed store bought, and I picked out some shell from my mouth. That’s fine, but not for a $ 20+ small sandwich. The drinks were expensive and weak. Here’s the thing. Why is it that NYC thinks it’s a tug-of-war between good venue or good food, where good food usually comes from venues that are«holes in the wall» and great venues have a «you’re paying for the ambiance» attitude? This place needs to up the food, because the venue, although nice, is remote and has arcade games around it. Which is fine, but don’t expect me to pay $ 50+ per person to eat outside out of a basket in a not central part of anywhere, if your food isn’t up to par.

For atmosphere on a warm, sunny day, they get five stars. The only reason you’d come here over nearby, better restaurants is to sit upstairs and look out on the water with a few cocktails. The three story set up can’t be beat on warmer days. I knew the food was just ok so I ordered the oysters. They were having a $ 1 special, so well worth it. The pricey watermelon cocktail was sort of watery and not memorable.(Stick to cheaper beer here. No special bartenders) Also ordered the crab roll which was just ok. Ordered Steve’s key lime pie because he was closed that day and we had taken the ferry over for a pie and the winery next door. Steve’s makes a much better frozen pie on a stick/dipped in chocolate so walk over for dessert rather than the regular little pie here.

Loved the place because: 1) we didn’t have to wait like many others did. 2) great drink selection. 3) got the combination for two, food was awesome. 4) great view! Love my neighborhood! A little pricey… Oh well!

We took the free Ikea ferry over to Red Hook like many others and was recommended this place by a friend. There was a long(1 hour) wait but they have an efficient system of texting you when your table is ready. In the meantime we sat by the bar downstairs and had some beers. Was a great day and a great atmosphere. There were 3 games of cornhole going on downstairs which seemed to take up a lot of floor space that could have been used for tables, but it was fun to watch nonetheless. Finally we got seated and ordered almost immediately. We didn’t hold back and had the Royale special; essentially crab/lobster for 2. Not cheap at $ 110. If the wait to get a table was long the wait for our order seemed even longer. In reality it was about 35 minutes but really — you’re a crab restaurant, why don’t you go ahead and keep cooking crabs knowing people will order them?! That way you’d turn over a lot more tables too. When the food did come it did not disappoint. All the crabs and lobster were delicious especially with the garlic butter dipping sauce. Our friendly server had no issues refilling those dips thankfully! We also had a side of fries which was a huge bowl but I’d say the crab for 2 plus a side to share is the perfect amount. It would have been nice if they came around with a hot towel after so you can really clean up instead of giving a couple of those crappy wet wipes so we both went and washed our hands in the restrooms. Overall we left satisfied and would go back, knowing now that we’ll need to be patient for a table and for our order as the waits are(unnecessarily) long.

Always been a regular customer of the place, even in the colder months. Always loved the view and the food despite it being on the pricey side. But the last time I came, the waitress seated me near the stairwell even though there were plenty of tables where I wanted to sit. something about distributing the customers evenly. I was so upset I just got up and left after a few minutes. View and outdoor seating is one the perks that I come here for, since their food is well known to be just mediocre. Why come when it’s causing so much misery just to be seated? Plenty of competition in the area. now I can be somewhere with better prices, a better drink menu and better service. What a bitter end.

Brooklyn Crab is what you would get if you combined the Hamptons with a frat party; you’ve got the oysters on a half-shell, crab legs, and the themed drinks on one side and the dunk tank, shuffleboard, and arcade games on the other. What does it all mean? A good time with food that wasn’t as good as you’d hoped. So the drinks(upstairs and downstairs) are okay. I would stick with the draft beers though. Food… The fresh seafood is great. The cooked dishes… can definitely be better. When we came we had the legs, the shrimp, and the oysters and they were great. In the dining area, however, our experience was a little different. Yes, the service was good and the clam chowder here rocks but the other stuff. meh. The easy peel shrimp was way too salty and tasted like a bottle of cumin exploded on them. The calamari was forgettable. The fish and chips were dense and chewy. My advice: come for the fun and games, have some light fresh seafood and beer. When you’re really hungry, check out elsewhere in Red Hook.

Good service! First and foremost. The restaurant is designed in such a manner that you can enjoy the outdoor space on a beautiful day. Take advantage of the outdoor seating. I wish we sat on the roof deck. The 1st level of outdoor seating is shared communal seating. Ordered the king crab leg steam pot with«cajun» seasoning which is old bay seasoning. heaping serving of King crab legs with corn & coleslaw. My mom ordered the fried shrimp with French fries and a side order of corn. Corn was sweet and crunchy. We laughed each time the juices from the kernels sprayed one of us. Drinks were mango piña colada for myself and watermelon limeade for my mom. Both were tasty. Pricing is reasonable for fresh seafood. I do wish they had fried clams as that was something that I was craving.

This place is overpriced for what you get. For $ 65 a dozen i expect some meaty jumbo or at least large crabs. We had a bucket of tiny females. The clam chowder was good and so were the tall piña coladas but overall this place only gets a 3⁄5 as the crabs were tiny, over spiced with Old Bay. The coleslaw and corn were good but i don’t think anyone can botch those items! We also had the blue crab roll which was tasty and the steam pot with what appeared to be frozen crab legs and the Dungeness crab was so dry it was hard to eat. I wouldn’t go back but needed to try it for myself. You would be better off at Joes Crab shack.

I’ve been here a couple of time and both were good experiences Came here in the summer and got the blue crabs, oysters and fried clams. Everything was pretty good and it’s a fun party atmosphere in the summer time. You get a mallet to bust open the crabs which always makes things fun Was here in the winter when it was pretty quiet. Got the snow crabs and clam chowder. The chowder was really good but the crabs were a bit undercooked which made it harder to get all the meat out. The waitress was really nice though. Portion sizes aren’t too big and the menu is nothing extraordinary, you’re paying mostly for the atmosphere when you’re here but on a warm summer night it’s totally worth it

Let’s start from the beginning… Came here on a Sunday evening and surprisingly this place was packed. From the ground up with was more of a hang out spot and a bar on the ground floor. Towards the back of where the bar was located there was an outdoor /backyard seating where is was super kid friendly! They had a mini golf course for the kiddies to play and kiddie rides and a bar of course for the adults. Second floor upstairs was also a bar and outdoor seating. Third floor seating was my favorite only because it was late and you get a view of the harbor and the fresh air flowing through! — New England Clam Chowder(a bit heavy and overwhelming but delicious) — Fried Calamari — Hollander Mussels — Atlantic Seared Scallops — Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes — Alaskan King Crab — Snow Crab — Corn On The Cob — Mac and Cheese(ehh) — Sundae Fudge something for dessert or whatever it was. It was delicious! Note: Order a double of the Alaskan King Crab and Snow Cab — One order just isn’t enough! Orginally we were going to order a double of the Brooklyn Crab Royale for Two in which was an assortment of crabs plus the lobsters but unfortunately they were sold out of the lobsters :(- Overall the food was delicious minus the Mac and Cheese. Huge thanks to Frank the Manager btw for taking care of us!(thank you for the gloves and attempting to teach us how to use the thingy to break the crab legs) SERVICEWASGREAT&HIGHLYRECOMMENDED! Would I come back: ABSOLUTELY. Wish to be seated in the backyard though upon next arrival!
