One of the best restaurants I have been to. We had several parties here and the food and service is always excellent. The owner is super attentive and will always work with you so you are left happy. Each time we throw a party here me and my guests are always left super happy. They truly appreciate their customers and when we order out to cater at home everything is always packed well and delivered hot.

I love the food here. My family comes to this restaurant for special occasions(anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), I recommend both the hot and cold dishes. Salads are tasty. The crepes are worth mentioning as a standout. I haven’t had a dish I didn’t enjoy. It’s under new management, they are very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely come back!

I went here two days ago on a Sunday night in celebration of my parents’ anniversary. First off, although this place is called a café, it’s really not. In a sense, it is like a café due to its scanty space(can only seat about 7 groups). But, cafes are associated with brunch, coffee and light meals. Here you can order and are encouraged to by the workers, a side and main dish for a full-fledged meal. There’s also a DJ, very loud music and a dance floor, although very small. It also has stylish décor. Thus it has the air of a restaurant and the prices of one as well! One of the waitresses was very amiable and sweet, another one was average. The sweet one tried to convince us to buy more, I should add, though I caught on to her tactic as soon as she tried to get us to order the kani salad in addition to what we’ve ordered, even though we never mentioned this salad. As for the food: some of it was really good, some of it was nasty and undeserving of its high price. The guacamole salad we ordered is so misleading in its title– there was no guacamole! It was regular salad with avocado pieces and no flesh on the tomatoes, only thin strips of skin. The Greek salad was pretty tasty; it had tomatoes cut with the flesh included, which juiced up the salad and give it more flavor. I ordered herring which was not too good, it was on the salty side. However, its saltiness was nothing compared to the bastarma my dad ordered(the beef version of cold cuts, think Canadian bacon but made from beef). The salt content of those slices of bastarma were through the roof. You’re better off buying some by the slice to take home with you at a Russian market which Brighton Beach has plenty of. I ordered grilled shrimp with vegetables or the Eastern European Dream, as it was dubbed and it too was a lie: there were no vegetables except five pieces of bell peppers! Here I thought I would get a mix of broccoli, zucchini, carrots and maybe beans, which all pair well with shrimp and all I got was five tiny pieces of bell peppers. This dish should be called grilled shrimp with bell peppers and certainly not«with vegetables» because there was only one type of vegetable. You can get more variety with shrimp at a Chinese joint. It also had a line(yes that thin an amount) of sauce, which was good but there was barely any. Mom ordered shrimp with creamy sauce, which I initially considered ordering but it sounded unhealthy. This dish was actually very pleasant. The shrimp were sizable and the sauce enhanced the taste. My sis ordered the portabella dish which is basically cheese and tomato on a rounded eggplant. It tasted a lot better than it sounds and is good for vegetarians. We also ordered the French style crepes which are blintzes stuffed with creamy mushrooms. This dish was exquisite and my favorite thing I ate here. The downside is that for $ 7.50 you only get three crepes. I would have ordered them for myself if I knew they’d be that good. My family had desert which I ditched, but I can attest that it came in decent servings. Mom ordered the tiramisu which she said was so palatable and my sis ordered ice cream which also tasted very good. The verdict: some of the food is good, some bad, some bland, some tasty, while some is too darn salty. But everything is on the expensive side so I wouldn’t come here on an average day. This is a good place to go to celebrate some event. Did I mention there’s a dance floor? I did in the first paragraph. but there’s not much room.

What a great find! The food is amazing, and though the main entrees were great, I can literally order and reorder the salads and appetizers. There is nothing that we did not enjoy… nothing. The food is really delicious and at such a reasonable price. Also, our waitress was so personable and just so nice. Really made our night. Will be back for sure for lunch and dinner. My only knock is that the desert wasn’t great… but after all the yummy food, why even bother with desert.

We were pleasantly surprised with the warmth, dedication and truly delicious food. My wife and I have booked a baby-shower on 5÷3÷15. Alex, the new chef and owner, has exceeded our expectations with diligence and truly remarkable food. It’s a cozy place with nice wait-staff and fun entertainment. I rarely write positive reviews as I’m lazy, but this place deserves to be noted. They are now having jazz style lunches and dinners during normal day hours which is pretty cool.

Love this place! Great both for lunch and special occasions. The food is amazing! It’s european cuisine with some Russian options. The restaurant has changed hands recently and it’s clear in every detail. The service, the atmosphere… everything is new. Definitely check it out!

Strange name for a Russian restaurant, but don’t let that deter you. They serve quality Russian food. i even like the odd, slightly tacky ambience. We came here for a birthday party and they took good care of us. It’s one of the smaller, less headache-inducing restaurants in the area.

I don’t understand how this restaurant got 3& ½ stars — unless all the people who reviewed it were russian speaking(I think there were only about 3 reviews). I called the restaurant — a woman answered speaking russian. I asked if she spoke English — she didn’t reply but she transferred me to a man. I asked him if he speaks English. He said«Niet»(I don’t know russian but I’m positive that means no). I asked if there was anyone there who speaks English. Again, he said«Niet.» I said«Do you ever have anyone there who speaks English — Again, he said«Niet.» I said, «so you never have any American customers?» He answered, «Niet.» I said, «You don’t want any American customers?» The answer was Niet. So, I don’t know if he understood anything I said — it seems he did because he answered No to everything. Needless to say our party of 6 people chose another restaurant. I don’t understand why they have their menu in English on the Internet on menupages — Huh?

This place is ok. I know of other Russian restaurants that are better in the Brighton Beach area. I went here for a birthday party which in fact there were 2 other birthday parties. So all 3 were booked at the same time so with the area being soo small, people were bumping into each other. The food was pretty good and the wait staff were very attentive. What ever we requested they brought out right away as if there were no other parties in the restaurant. One of the issues I had there were people would hang their coats. The coat racks were right behind our table so every time people had to get their jacket we would have to all stand to let someone through. So at the end of the night one of the racks broke and it seemed that the staff did not want to remove it from the floor, which kind of distracted us from finishing our desert(we thought it was going to fall on us). If I had to choose this place with another Russian restaurant located in Brighton I would select another place.

Very charming. The atmosphere is so Brighton Beach I love it. The service is slightly condescending, the waiter is silly, and it is fancy in that Brighton Beach way. I had a full grilled tilapia and it was delicious. The sauce was tasty and the potatoes were good. I love when you get the full fish and all! I think it was slightly better than Tatiana even. The bread was delecious, but they charged us $ 2.50 for it unexpectedly but he did give me a tea to make up for it, which was so nice. One star off because they didn’t have English on their menu!!! And then what was weird was that as we were walking out, I grabbed a take out menu and there was English!!! How did they not know about that? And come on why no English on the real menu? I understand this is Brighton but come on, we do have Starbucks and GNC, and I grew up there and I speak only English! Go here is you want the real Brighton Beach experience!
