Pretty awesome NY pizza when you have the munchies at 1am.

Amazing slice after a long night or for a quick bite on the run. The crust is perfectly crispy but chewy. The dough is tomato-y in all the right ways. Would choose this place over the«artisanal» Vinnie’s ANYDAY. Carmine’s is my favorite pizza in all of New York.

Bruno N was right on target when he pointed out that this is real old school NYC pizza. Having been a fan of Rays Pizza(which of the hundreds?) in the 1970’s, I concur that it is getting difficult to find places that still cook the pizza slices you need to fold over to prevent the cheese from flowing off while you eat it. Thank you Carmine’s for not changing with the times because«if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!»

I can see why people love this place because he’s been around for so long and it’s a staple of greenpoint. For me the pizza is just ok but you definitely need to have them keep it in for a little longer because i was served lukewarm pizza.

This place is either on its last legs or just located in such an area for so long that people are dulled into thinking its status as «an institution» is an acceptable rationalization for low-level mediocrity*. There must be no turnover for the specialty slices, which looked absolutely disgusting in the display(they post«100c extra for cheese»). This place will go with the owner. *Or the low-priced pies, though there’s really no justification for the forgettable $ 2.35 regular slice more than once

Carmine’s Original Pizza is everything a New York pizzeria should be: Simple, to the point and excellent. By the slice or by the pie, the pizza here will rock your world. A simple-seeming concoction of crust, sauce and cheese, real New York pizza is an increasingly rare commodity in our age of rampant gentrification. Thankfully, Carmine’s still exists to bring you a crispy, not doughy, crust along with a perfect ratio of real, gooey cheese and tomato-based brilliance. It’s no-nonsense, straightforward and awesome, just like everything about New York used to be. Fuggheddabouddit!

Great pizza for 2,25 $ a slice. Took about 2 minutes to heat and service was very friendly. Ordering pasta however takes a while longer and is not too special.

Delicious pizza, again. The pepperoni pinwheels are my favorite along with a regular slice. Been going here 25 years. Carmine is the original. The pasta dishes are done right also, great sauce. Carmine only uses the best ingredients and it shows.

It is something when a one $ pizza joint is a 5 star. Carmine, my New York friends, is worth every train to try. First off, THE Carmine is there — everyday and moment his business is open — sleeping, making sauce or bustling pizza in and out of the oven that is taller than his own reach. This clean cut Italian man knows what’s best. And stick to the ‘regular’ slice — cannot go wrong. As a transplant to NYC, having tried ‘the best’ does not measure up to his warmed up slice. Any hour, any day, enjoy his slice. It will make you warm and crispy as his slice would. Warning, it’s a hole in the wall, but often those are the best. Give him a ‘THANKSCARMINE!!’ when you’re done and he will give you a friendly smile as if he knew you for years. What a gem.

I’ve lived in Greenpoint for 20+ years and Carmines has always had my heart when it comes to a good, thin crust, cheese slice. I’ll admit that sometimes the pies look a little drab in their display cases, but 1 minute in the oven and –boom– best pizza in NYC. Also a huge fan of the square slice with the sauce on top, and seeing Carmine their every day!

Authentic NYC pizza! So delicious and exactly what a New York slice should be-thin, greasy, cheesy, soft dough and saucy. Places like these are a gem and ironically a rare find in NYC. Nowadays pizza places are becoming too fancy, not that there is anything wrong with that bc hey good pizza is good pizza. This place is just special to me because it’s the old school authentic pizza that I grew up with. If you’d like to show out of towners what NYC pizza truly is meant to taste like, take them here. I mean eating the pizza out of a paper plate standing and talking to the Italian pizza guy, now that’s an experience! A NYC experience!

I was not a big fan although it was pretty late. I went around 2am after a wedding. The pizza tasted like it was sitting out all day and could have used some fresh cheese or something. I may give it one more shot sometime during the day to see if it is will be any better.

My favorite pizza in the hood, and possibly all of NY. Delicious and authentic anytime of day. It’s the only place I even go to at this point. Classic pepperoni is my go to, although I branch out sometimes and it’s always delicious. Friendly and feels like home. Looove this place!

This is one of my favorite cheese slices in NYC. Nothing super special, but I put a lot of weight on how well a pizza place can do just a plane slice. The crust is good and the pizza is always solid. Friendly staff and right by the Nassau stop. Oh and I recently tried the garlic knots and they’re killer!

Great slice. Excellent Grandma slice(made the old school brooklyn way, sauce on top and cheese below), but the Meatball roll is the prized piece here. Its not your standard«hope for the best» roll, There are three perfectly cooked meatballs that are wrapped in their pizza dough. It really is the best of both worlds. Does the place look dumpy? YES. But thats how a good pizza place looks. If a pizza place is clean, theyre not paying enough attention to the pizza.

MEH. only good thing is its location. right next to nassau station so it’s convenient. the sauce was off and the crust is like crunchy cardboard. BUT. I love pizza so… this does the job if I’m craving some and too lazy to venture too far.

I never had a fresh pie here so I feel like my review is a bit skewed but I did have a veal parm sandwich and a slice of plain to try it out. This place is pretty solid for the prices, but I rather pay more and get better quality. Carmine definitely piles on the cheese and meat in the Sandwiches but there are definitely better places to go in the area and as far as the cheese slice was concerned, tasted ok but was just a little too greasy for my liking. Like I said, it’s unfair that I only had a reheated, delivered slice and haven’t tried a fresh pie but I wouldn’t go back for a slice. It’s Brooklyn, there are much better places for a slice, I prefer Russ’ right around the block on Manhattan Ave.

Introducing the most inconsistent slice in the city. Literally. Sometimes it taste like a top 20 slice, other times, worse than a .99 Indian snack slice from murray hill. But, Alas, Carmine is in there aloof of most anything except… Pizza
