I’m posting this retroactively, but since this place has been reopened as a pizza place by the same owners I think it’s important to say something. Occasionally this place had good food, maybe 50% of the time but the poor and unfriendly service usually ruined the rest of my meals here. It’s strange that this place closed a few days after I sent an email to 311 about my wife and I getting food poisoning here… Hopefully they removed all of the terrible employees and started fresh for their new vegan pizza venture Screamers.

This place has just gotten worse and worse by the month. Poor management, disorganized, no training. I just paid $ 11 for this ‘chicken’ caesar wrap only to come home and find out it’s about half the normal size. WTF Champs Jr!!! Check the photo.

This tiny place serves amazing vegan versions of American classics. I’m taking one star off because of the small size of the place. Sometimes it’s difficult to find seating.

So sad. I have been a loyal customer for 2 years. 1st, the gf muffin went away because they lost the baking space on Bushwick. I don’t need to eat out, I cook really well, but I wanted to support a vegan business. Also, the benedict bowl was not on the menu at the Meserole place and overall, the food was tastier at Champs Jr. So, once a week my daughter and I would get a scramble or a bowl. The last time I went there, like 2 weeks ago, it was all sandwiches served in paper boats. No actual plates or bowls. There is no reason to go back. So sad.

Delicious vegan diner food. Restaurant is tiny, so it’s better for small groups or just you. Try the awesome bowl and the buffalo chicken sandwich. So good!

Fast delivery. I always get their fries. They are the best around and the mayo sauce is great. I ordered a salad today and it had some problems… hair and plastic…(Happens i guess, hopefully their kitchen cleans up). But I called and they said they can send another free or give me a credit. I took credit.

We have been on three different occasions and always leave VERY satisfied. The juices and smoothies are delicious — even though the K-bomb is a thing of the past, the K-colada replaces it well. Most recently, the french toast and benedict really hit the spot. The former being crispy with a soft, sweet center and the latter with delicious hollandaise and tasty greens on the side.

DONTORDER Delivery from here! Almost two hours and called twice, they were waiting for a delivery driver to come to the restaurant. so unprofessional. And the girl didn’t even offer to check on the order, just«yea, I’m sure it’s coming». Will not be ordering from here ever again

I’ve been a big fan of Champs and a loyal customer the last two years. However, recently they have discontinued the buffalo tempeh wings. They were the best item on the menu! I don’t think I’ll be ordering from them as much now.

Updated to add — the last two times I’ve ordered delivery from Champs Jr. they omitted the side salad that’s supposed to come with the sandwiches. And my girlfriend’s wrap today was really sad looking and barely warm. Definitely not worth the money.

Things have really gone downhill since Champs Jr first opened. The last few times I’ve gone the ingredients haven’t been fresh, they were out of parts of dishes, and the place looked dirty. After eating some fizzy avocado that had clearly gone bad, I can no longer go back. I love vegan food and really hope something else in the area opens up!

I’m not a vegan but I come here often. Good mini-selection compared to the main location(which I haven’t been to since it moved), and quick friendly service.

Guys, I love you. I do. But nothing here is ever really on par with Champs original. Food is still great but so many things need improvement. Cold brew iced coffee with grounds in it and hot coffee that is barely warm are fixable things that don’t cost that much money to fix. I will happily donate a microwave to your establishment so the next time I get a barely tepid cup of coffee which I always get and no one seems to be able to do anything about, you can nuke it for me. Thanks.

Best vegan diner ever! I ordered a grinder and a coconut cheesecake for about exactly $ 13. The staff was full of energetic, positive, and unbelievably attractive people. Everything on the menu looked way too good to just order one thing. So, I’m hoping to come back multiple times again before leaving the New York vicinity. I went to the location in Bushwick that is supposedly the annex. But, I guess they also have a main location and a bakery that are equally easily enticing. Fun Fact: Their instagram will make you drool. They have a Vegan Benedict variation everyday!

Ugh. It pains me to do this because I love the original Champs on Meserole, but I cannot lie. I was sick and ordered one of the bowls from champs juniors. I was so looking forward to the delicious nutritious Champs meal that I have come to love but no. What I got did not even qualify as a meal. There were a few hash browns, two strips of red pepper and worst of all the meal was cold when delivered. :( I will never order from there again and I suggest you do the same.

As a vegan I have fought to keep my mouth shut with voicing my experiences due to not having many restaurant options to choose from. But must speak… The service is absolutely horrible. The management could careless that many people complain. The delivery service takes over a 100 minutes and I am few blocks away. One time I waited a little over two hours and received my food all smashed into the bag. The menu is not like the original champ’s menu. They need a fresh start and fire everyone and start fresh. Sorry but there you have it.

I am finally giving up. I keep trying to give Champs Jr. «one more chance» because I like to support any vegan business, but I’ve been there many times now and have vowed the same number of times never to return, yet I kept going back, clinging to some tiny vestige of hope that there could be a decent vegan restaurant in my neighborhood. Alas, ultimately it would be better for everyone, vegans and Champs Jr. alike, if they just faded gently into the good night. Aside from being uncomfortably small and not clean and not having a bathroom, and the staff being rude and inattentive, and the music gratingly loud, and the orders often messed up, and worse-than-deli coffee, and way too expensive especially for non-organic ingredients, the food itself is just empirically and objectively not good. I know some people like it but people also like Twinkies and McDonald’s. I understand that the 23-year old at the grill is not a top-notch professional chef, but they should get at least a smattering of culinary training so that everything is not oil-soaked and over-fried, and to learn the basics of determining when a food item is not fresh enough to serve to someone and charge money for it. I have a hardy constitution but have ended up clutching my abdomen in digestive discomfort after eating there on numerous occasions. Frankly for a place like that not to have a bathroom is really playing with fire. It’s a shame because real Champs on Meserole is quite good, but Champs Jr. is like punk squat food for college students, but not at prices any college student could afford. Also apprently they have recently slashed the menu options and no longer serve juice or smoothies, which might be a sign that they are on their way out. The recently opened Acai Berry just a block up Manhattan Ave. has really good, fresh, organic vegan food and is worth checking out. ***NOTETOANYONEWHOWANTSTOOPEN A DECENTVEGANRESTAURANTINGREENPOINT: PLEASEDO! WTF? Can this place ever get an order right??! If it’s not one thing it’s another. This evening I found a ROOT in my Buenos Dias Salad. As you can imagine, it was NOBUENO to find a large(5″) plant root with dirt and bark in a salad I just payed $ 15 for. I really like the idea of this place — it’s all vegan, has this punk rock vibe, Greenpoint, Brooklyn — I get it. The execution however is piss poor. Lack of management and a shitty staff. Do yourself a favor and stop hiring people who LOOKTHEPART(pretentious hipster assholes with tattoos), and hire people who actually FITTHEPART(food industry experience, friendly, and keen on quality control). This isn’t American Apparel. Hire people with actual skills, instead of people just trying to look cool. And on top of everything, you guys round up the change on the bill to the nearest 25 cents at the customer’s expense? Lol. How punk rock of you. Part of me hopes this place fails so a better vegan establishment(who knows what they’re doing) can move in. I’d give you 0 stars if I could.

3 stars because i love being able to have decent vegan comfort foods in my neighborhood. But only 3 stars because the service is horrible, based on 3 out of 3 experiences. 1. ordered delivery and the delivery guy didnt have ANY change on him, so I asked if I could call and give a CC. he said yes and ran away. i called to give a CC and they told me i couldnt and had to come down and pay. then the chick proceeded to call me off the hook to make sure i was coming because she was trying to close and settle out her register. im sorry but isn’t it not my fault that your delivery guy didnt have change? and shouldnt you have sent him back with change, rather than making me walk 10 blocks to you so you could settle your drawer? its champs world im just living in it… 2. ordered delivery from work but forgot to change the address from my apartment to my work, which I should note is directly between Champs and my apt. tried calling many times and kept getting a voicemail that hadnt been set up. finally the delivery guy calls me and is at my apt– i try to explain to him that ive been trying to call them because the address is wrong before im rudely interrupted by the delivery guy: «OK can I talk?!» he explains their phones have been down. thats fine, but like i didn’t order any sass with that veggie burger. 3. ordered delivery from work again(made sure i had the right address) and have now been waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes(estimate was 45−60min). called to make sure the order was placed and she tells me the order just left. i get a call from the delivery person, who is buzzing my apartment building. why would you go to my apt building? im staring at my order confirmation which has my work address? maybe an error on seamless’s end, but one too many errors for me… UPDATE: foods here. cold as ice.

the worst service I’ve gotten in a long time. Music was playing too loud and the girl working seed to rather be somewhere else. Well, she seemed to be friends with the other people working, so talking to them seemed to be the most important thing she had to do. My awesome bowl was anything but awesome, quite underwhelming. Almost NO quinoa — about a spoonful of it, and the kale was unevenly cooked. And NO seasoning, until I found a big gob of chopped garlic. I have had freshly pressed juice here before, and it was amazingly tasting and not the watered down stuff you end up getting at many other places! I’m really disappointed…

It’s always take two hours to get the food delivered which I learned to deal with. Then one day they decided to circle the suggested tip part of the receipt. How rude of these people to do such a thing. I am in the industry and tip 20−25% all the time. Once I saw that I left a 10%tip. These people got some pair of balls. Fucking hipsters ruining the brooklyn I grew up in. Don’t come into my city and insult me like that. I got your tip right here *pointing to my crotch*

I place very frequent orders to Champs Junior through GrubHub. My complaint is not with the food, but with the service provided by the Management staff at this venue. I ordered their Mexican Kale salad,(which I usually do a few times a week in fact) and bit into a centimeter long, sharp, piece of porcelain glass that cut the roof of my mouth open. I called the restaurant, asking that they refund me for my meal, seeing as I could have been seriously injured had I cracked a tooth, or swallowed this piece of porcelain. I think that’s a pretty fair request, as I could legally file a petty lawsuit for Pain and Suffering — but that’s not my thing. I just wanted the situation to be rectified fairly, or at least have someone apologize and idontknow offer me a milkshake on the house for my troubles. Needless to say, they refused to refund my full order after — and the«Manager» dude I spoke to on the phone was anything but apologetic on behalf of the restaurant. He left a worse taste in my mouth than the porcelain. Any person that is put in charge of representing a business should at least pretend to concern themselves with the reputation of that business. I don’t Unilocal very much but I’m very dissatisfied with the service here and will not be ordering from them again. Be sure to skim over your food if you order with Champs Junior.

We love Champs! We were here at around 5pm. The place was empty. It’s small but clean. We got the Philly & the Grinder. The Grinder is a grilled seitan, garlic, mozzarella, sauteed onions & hot banana peppers with mayo on a hero. They were amazing! We love them! The menu here is smaller than the original Champs. The portion is generous. Our bill came out to about $ 24 for the two sandwiches. We were definitely satisfied. It was worth it. We like the original Champs better because of the bigger menu but if we happen to be nearby, we’ll most likely stop by Junior again.
