Excellent food excellent service I definitely recommend going there! Great place. The inside is fancy and they have a ton of selection. I tried the octopus– great, the salmon-​phenomenal, the lamb ribs– so tasty, and the chicken kabob with risotto rice was excellent. Will be back again soon.

Very good food all Russian but some speak English. It’s a little bit annoying when the waiters and waitresses ask to serve you food all the time but the food is still good never less. There is a lady at the bathroom giving you rules to use which is a little bit concerning but besides that it is very good for dinner and tastes exceptional.

We had a great time celebrating my wife’s birthday here. The food was fresh and tastefully presented. Service was prompt and attentive. Complementary valet service is a big plus. Definitely will be back for more dinners and celebrations at Château De Capitaine!

I have been coming here ever since they first opened. The food is always fresh and delicious. The chef, owner and staff go out of their way to make sure you are having a wonderful dining experience. If you like fish, You must try their turbot — the best I’ve had! The salads are delicious and the escargot and foie gras are out of this world! Top notch service! Highly recommend!!!

Just walked into château de capitaine greeted with such open arms the staff made the whole experience so memorable for my whole family. Everything we had was to die for delicious. There banquet never ended we love you guys see you soon.

The place is TOO crowded and very noisy, the food is mostly ok, waiters are forgetful, one of our fish orders was completely forgotten, music is so so…, not worth the money.

Wow there turbot fish is the greatest fish entrée ive ever had grilled vegetables that sauce with homemade chip. My wife had there oysters shes not a big eater by she loved them. My grandparents had grilled sturgeon, they said exactly like back home what ever that meant.
There tuna tartar better then any city restaurant ive been to patte wow we ordered that twice.
What can i say more, first and definitely not the last.

This place makes things very simple — you either like it or you love it. I have come here many times and always leave full, happy (maybe a little drunk as well), and looking forward to my next visit. The staff are friendly and the owners are always around to say hello and treat you like a close friend.
Living in NYC you’re provided with an opportunity to be a bit of a food snob, this place meets and exceeds the expectations of the food snob in me.
I suggest the octopus salad and borcht. Also, special lox they have comes thick and juicy — whatever that is (ask the waiter), I would highly recommend.

Hi! I were here with my friends 2 days ago. We liked everything especially meat was cooked very testy. Also the waitress/​waiters was so polite and nice. Will come back again.

I appreciate the offer on the tour, and offer to make it up to me and the party next time around, but I must respectfully decline to visit this establishment in the future. It is not fun missing days from work and throwing up for 2 days straight only to be screamed and hung up at by Alik when the issue was presented.

You must be a virologist to possess such vast knowledge on food poisoning. FYI regular food poisoning can take a few hours to take effect, but a virus such as vibrio vulnificus can take 1 – 7 days to incubate. So go figure what the virus actually was when only those who consumed the oysters were affected. I would never want to knock on local business, especially considering that I frequented Château De Alik a lot in the past and always bought my seafood from 7 Seas on the corner. It is not the actual fact of the food poisoning that caused the dismay, rather a rude and unapologetic response from Alik that 100% warrants this review.

Just like the 2 other reviewers on here. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday, and I was one of the 6 people that got poisoned by the oysters.
Vomiting, diarrhea, doctors and missed days from work is what mishandling of oysters can cause by eating at this venue.

Great food great presentation when a crowded night prepare to order ahead of time because the food is fresh and takes awhile to come out and comes out not at once. Music is live, you can BYOB, and the design is gorgeous inside. Would def come back! Our waiter lyoha was on point with all the courses one by one. Pleasure to be here

What started off as great birthday party and great Monday evening, ended ip as myself, my wife and 4 of friends being sick after eating what ended up not so fresh oysters. We were celebrating my birthday party. The food served on time, the waiters were super attentive and food was great in general. I did’t even argue 15% of service charge and tipped the waiters 20% off total on top for what I considered a great evening. 18 hours later I start a getting sick, few hours after that, my wife gets sick as well, and then like a clock work, one after another, get the same symptoms. All 4 my friends who had oysters got sick that evening. The funny thing is the owner of this establishment owns a fish store on the same block where I always used to by «fresh seafood»
When I called to voice out my disappointment, the manager or the owner was rude and unapologetic. Well you and seafood store have definitely lost my business. And I will call to 311 and ask them to check this place by health department.

Came here once for dinner except they never gave us a table. The RACISM I experienced here was disgusting and made me never want to go back. I was dressed nicely and came with my newborn and bf. I was waiting for a table but not a single person approached me, except they just stared. After waiting five minutes, thinking they were busy, a Russian girl came in and right away they approached her and asked how they could help her. I was so disgusted I walked out. This is a DISGUSTING RACIST ESTABLISHMENT. I was so upset and hurt for being treated that way. Spend your money elsewhere.

Just the appetizers are fantastic. Between their eel salad, foie gras, cow tongue, you get an appreciation for their exotic menu. Then hot dishes like calamari, pork chops, chicken, and fries seal the deal. I also recommend ordering an espresso at the end, it goes well with the nicely (lightly nautical) decorated ambience.

We went here two times. The first time was a wonderful experience. Both my hubby and myself enjoyed the food, environment and such. The dinner portion was big and we couldn’t finish them all. So we brought our parents and order the same things the second time we went. Gosh, the portion suddenly became so small that no one was full. The taste of the pasta was bad. My parents was very disappointed. I don’t think we will come again.

Went on 2/24/15…the place wasn’t super busy, I’d say about 10% of the restaurant was occupied… no reason for the food to take sooooo LOOOOONNNGGG to come out, it was ridiculously slow service. Now, I’m a reasonable person and I understand that good food takes a while to prepare, but this was just way beyond that. We ordered two salads and an appetizer, all of which came out fairly quick. Then the service hit a roadblock, waiting and waiting and waiting for two soups and two entrees.
Food was good for the most part. Skip the lobster salad, the portion is atrociously small and not worth the tiny barely-​there lobster crumbs.
Waiters were confused and all over the place, our waiter honestly admitted to us that it was his 2^nd day on the job, I’m not holding that against him, at least he was honest. But the manager failed to do her job. On two occasions, they brought food to our table that we did not order (yes I’m sure we didn’t order that) and we laughed as they took that same food to another table who also said they didn’t order it, waiters huddled to figure out which table the food belongs to. This happened twice, all while we’re waiting for the food we DID order.
Overall, food was good but nothing spectacular. Décor is nice but you’ll pay for it in the prices of their dishes. Service is atrocious, slow and unorganized. I wouldn’t return.

This is a fancy restaurant in the neighborhood! It has beautiful décor and presentation. Since this is a fancier restaurant, their menu wasn’t flowered with sample pictures of the dishes which I am used to. The dishes here are on the expensive side, but their portion are also pretty large! It would also make sense to dress up for this restaurant.
So, after we ordered, they started us with some bread with butter on the side. The wait time for the food was reasonable, but if you’re on the hungry side, you’re bound to get a bit impatient about when the food would come out. The king salmon lox was delicious. Being a salmon lover, and also recently craving lox/​smoked salmon, the dish was great. The fried calamari dish was huuge! It is an appetizer dish but it would be enough to fill you! The crab, according to my partner, was well-​seasoned and tasted good.
In general, good quality food which would fill your bellies. The price, depending on what you order, will become expensive. I have taken interest in some of their items based on some of the images found on Unilocal.I would like to come back in the future to try their brunch menu and their sushi menu.

Wow!!! That’s all I have to say. I don’t get impressed much but this place was excellent.
I was starving and just happen to stumble into this gem. As soon as I walked through the front doors I felt this place would meet my expectations. This place is beautiful and very clean. I sat at the bar to watch SNF. Ordered the spicy tuna roll which was awesome had to order another :) then had the king salmon which was amazing and I don’t even like salmon! Then had the Kara Sea which was also amazing!
Fish quality was excellent and tasted really fresh.
Definitely going back! Just another stop I will be making every time I come back to NY!
