CityMD – Bay Ridge

Finally! A professional medical facility in my neighborhood. I came here with my mother 2 weeks ago, she had a stomach pain as well as couple other issues. My mother has many medical problems and we were nervous that it may be something serious. Her primary doctor didn’t have an available appointment and I did not want to take her to ER with a 5 hour wait. We came and were greeted with a welcoming smile. The check in process was fast and easy. We were taken in by a medical assistant, who was nice and took vitals. He made us feel comfortable. We were then seen by a physician assistant Irene, who was pleasant and professional, she took her time to answer our questions, she was understanding of my mom’s medical history and we did not feel rushed. Treatment given was effective. As we were leaving, we overheard a couple with young children discussing that they were glad they took the kids here instead of waiting to see their pediatrician. I am assuming this place is good for kids as well. The whole experience was pleasant.

I don’t normally give 5 star reviews but as I reflected on this morning’s visit to City MD and tried to think how it could have been better, I couldn’t think of anything, so it seemed only fair to give them 5 stars. Staff were extremely courteous and prompt. Everyone took time to answer my questions. The facility is clean and large (it’s nice not to feel cramped, especially in a medical waiting room). There were magazines I wanted to read in the waiting area ;-). So, big thanks to City MD for getting me in and out quickly and making my visit as positive an experience as possible.

Very disappointed in the service that me and my girlfriend received here. My girlfriend was not feeling well, so we decided to go to a walk in center in our neighborhood. We got there around 6 – 6:30pm on January 11.
The front desk person was very nice, welcoming and informative. The facilities was very clean and neat. I thought that we were going to receive good service after experiencing a nice welcome and an inviting atmosphere. Dead wrong. It went down hill from there.
The male nurse that met with us first seemed lazy and in a rush. He acted like he didn’t care and wanted to hurry up with us. He asked my girlfriend how much she weighed and her height. Was it too much for him to perform those simple functions for her? Then he took her blood pressure and temperature. He snatched the thermometer out of her mouth and then sat down to record the readings. It would have been nice if he told her how high her temperature and blood pressure was. I had to tell her because I saw the readings. How unprofessional of him. Then when I told him some of her symptoms, he just grunted and said «uh ok». Are we interrupting you dude??? So after he asked her general questions, then he said the doctor will be in soon and left.
I said to myself, well it can’t get any worse right? The doctor will be in and we can finally get some answers on why my girlfriend has a persistent cough and high fever for several days. Well it did get worse. First of all, the non-​interested female PA (Physician’s Assistant), not even a doctor, came in. Her name was Irene Shir. Remember that name Unilocalers and know not to have her diagnose you.
She came into the room and basically had a response of «I don’t knows» to all the ailments that I was telling her my girlfriend had. She stated that her high fever is a concern. No s**t Sherlock! That is why we are here! We are concerned about her high fever. But she had no diagnosis as to why her fever is high, why she is coughing and why her throat was sore. She glanced quickly at her throat and said that it looked fine. This glance was like 2 seconds. She didn’t even really examine her throat. She listened to her chest and said that her lungs sounded clear and doesn’t appear to be pneumonia. But she kept pressing the issue of getting chest x-​rays even though it doesn’t sound like she has pneumonia. Extra money perhaps in your pocket? There were other issues that I told her about my girlfriend that required her to examine and touch her but she did no such thing. She just sat in her chair and said «I don’t know what’s wrong». Finally, she gave us some antibiotics to take for 5 days and medicine with codein to help my girl sleep at night without coughing like crazy. The PA basically said «Let’s see if this works». If her fever is still high after two days, come back. For what? To pay another $ 125 to get nothing resolved?
When we were getting ready to leave, I had some questions about the medications. I saw the male nurse and his response was so quick and he just dashed off. I was so dumbfounded. Then someone else came to my aid, a female, and asked if she can help me. She was very nice and helpful and clarified my questions about the medication. I’m so sorry I didn’t get her name but she has blonde hair and was extremely nice.
As I went to check out, I complained to the nice person at the front desk about our experience and she was shocked and seemed to be concerned. She stated that she was the manager. I hope that she does something about the lack of professionalism taking place in there.
There are so many good reviews about this place on Unilocal and I thought that I would have the same experience. I guess we came on the wrong night or the wrong time. Maybe the daytime staff is more professional and knowledgeable.

I find it very interesting that only the good reviews are here. If my review gets deleted we will know what is going on. I was here last Friday with my boyfriend who had a foot injury. We were here over three hours. The one and only doctor present told him he had a fracture in his ankle and gave him an air cast and crutches. He was told to see an orthopedist. He was also told that the facility would call him with the name of an orthopedist that takes his insurance. That never happened. After finally getting an orthopedist to see him Christmas week, we were told the xrays that had been done were incomplete; the alleged chip fracture was an old injury and not causing the current pain and he did not need the air cast or the crutches. This is unacceptable and could be dangerous if it were a more serious condition that was misdiagnosed.

Great facility. Impressed by the helpful and attentive staff and doctors. I’ve come here twice and there was barely a wait. Great addition to the neighborhood.

What a great place ! I was feeling under the weather & decided to check into this facility & I can’t express how nice & helpful they were from check in Leah was so nice & helpful plus the dr & X-​ray technicians were great ! I would definitely recommend coming here, there was also practically no wait.

Wow. I am beyond impressed by this place. Very high level of individualized care. Quick and painless; all my testing was done right on the premises. As someone who used to work in healthcare, these people are the real deal. My doctor listened to me, was extremely patient and very kind. He didn’t rush me or speak in medical jargon I wouldn’t understand (like many doctors tend to do.) Great experience.

I was here 2 times in one week and was extremely impressed with my the staff and doctors. Clean, bright & modern facilities. Spacious & quiet waiting room. I was seen in under 10 minutes of completing my paperwork. The 2 physician assistants & 2 doctors I met with were extremely professional and thorough.
Bonus: Open Sundays; Medical Questions phone line; pharmacy next door.

the only reason I didn’t give them five stars is because that would mean they cured my ailment! I am a new fan of this «Doc In A Box.»
SUPER clean and the most important part-​other than being clean is friendly, efficient, and knowledgable staff. I liked being placed in a room watching Food Network while I waited a bit for the doctor.
The doctor I saw took as long as I needed. I didn’t feel rushed or neglected. I feel like I’m pretty smart, and asked the doc multiple questions and not ONCE did he give me attitude or treat me with deference. He really listened. Well done!
I hope I don’t have to visit soon, but if I do, I know I’m in capable hands.
I will absolutely refer anyone to this place.

I use mostly the park slope location but I was really impressed with the facility at Bay Ridge. I have been to various City MD location and I’ve always been seen fairly quickly, and treated courteously and respectfully. In addition, the quality of care is better than What I’ve experienced in the emergency rooms locally. They take insurances and you can get pretty much any lab test that you could get at your GP, plus more. They even do x-​rays (I had to take my son in once — luckily, he was a-​ok.)

They were amazing!!! I walked in Monday morning at 9am after suffering from an ankle injury late Sunday night. By noon I had been seen, X-​rayed, ordered a car for to a nearby imaging office for an MRI, and diagnosed with a completely torn ligament. By the next day they had secured an appointment for me with a nearby Orthopedist. It was by far the best service I have ever experienced with a doctors office in NYC and I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

I just came back from CityMD, I’ve had a cough for a week and came into my office in Bay Ridge at 7:30 and decided to walk up to try CityMD.
I was so impressed with the facility, the front desk, the young man who put all my info into the computer and Dr. Michael Verdirame… I am confident within a couple of days I will be 100% again. I have heart disease and see my cardiologist in NYU every 3 mos, I will not hesitate to visit CityMD for other small health issues it was a Great experience! I highly recommend them.

First time here and it was very pleasant and efficient. Staff and doctors very professional, courteous and kind. Place is super clean. and convenient.

The facilities are new and inviting. The receptionist was wonderful. Was seen quickly by the PA and the MD. The prescription was electronically sent to my pharmacy.
Highly recommend this urgent care.

Great service I was in and out in twenty minutes I may never go back to my regular doctor

Don’t go there unless you have no other choice. I go in with a sore throat and wanted blood work done since I’ve been feeling really out of it lately. First they do a strep throat test, which was negative. Doctor suggests to take Motrin. Didn’t feel I needed antibiotics, yet I still have a sore throat. They could only do standard blood work testing. So I’ll have to see another doctor for a thorough blood work analysis. Go to check out and was told that since they are «Urgent Care» my co-​pay is $ 75 instead of the usual $ 20. Are these new clinics a scam of sorts? Well needless to say I’ll never go there again. Would rather sit in ER.

This is the third or fourth City MD location I’ve been to. As always, I am so pleased with my experience here. The front desk staff were very polite and nice to deal with and the doctor and his assistant were also both REALLY nice. The wait time was a few short minutes and the whole visit did not take very long. The facility is SO clean.
I have never had a remotely bad experience with City MD and I will continue to go there whenever I get sick.

Upon entering the staff at the front desk are very welcoming. You sign a form (front and back) then you hand in your insurance as well as your ID. A little sass if you forget something but nothing short of the Monday serious face .
The inside is extremely neat and posh. Comfier red and white couches line the walls and distract you from the fact that the flu sat in the seats before you. The center has 12 neat wooden chairs back to back. There are magazines round the room and a water machine in the corner .
I waited less than 30 minutes to see a doctor (granted on a Monday before noon.) woman came in took blood pressure and asked a few questions. The room itself was up to date with new technology. Within another 10minutes the doctor came is who was extremely nice. There were two doctors in that day. The physicians assistant was also super friendly answering all my questions.
Altogether the process took a little less than an hour. There is a pharmacy right around the corner to pick up meds .
Overall extremely satisfied with their service.

I came here about 3 weeks ago in horrible pain. As it turned out, I had pulled a muscle in my chest wall and it hurt to breathe, laugh, talk, lay down… pretty much every movement was painful. I came here not knowing the reason for the pain. I was in and out in less than 1 hour.
The office itself is huge and very clean. I had to fill out a few forms and show my insurance card and ID. They saw me right away. The Dr ordered an X-​ray after examining my ribs and seeing how much pain I was in. I was able to get the X-​ray done right down the hall by the radiology tech who was fast and professional. The X-​ray was painful because I couldn’t really lift my arms, but he was patient and kind.
I got the results right away and was given some pain medicine and told to get a lot of rest. I felt much better after a few days and the peace of mind that came with knowing it was just a pulled muscle was very comforting. I would definitely go back to CityMD — it was cheaper than the ER and faster than getting an appt with my Dr.

This place was great! Great staff, doctor and nurses. The office is open, airy and clean… it’s also new. I got there right when it opened at 8, so I was seen right away. I got great and thorough treatment and left with referring doctors and specialists to see.
Just note… this is URGENT CARE… so my copay was a lot higher than a walk in treat and release type place. But totally worth it for an emergency.
