I have a soft spot for this place. It’s probably open the latest of all the restaurants in the nearby vicinity(I want to say at least 3 or 4) and is great if you have a craving for greasy fried food. The staff is always nice, and it’s super cheap. My favorite things to get are the fried whiting fish, the plain cheese pizza, and chicken wings. The whiting fish is always really hot and crispy. The pizza crust is a bit bland, and it’s not like the best pizza ever but it’s nice and cheesy and a solid slice for $ 1. Once I got the mozzarella sticks and those were surprisingly decent too. My one word of warning is DONOTGETTHEFRIEDCHICKEN if you’re getting anything other than wings — it’s under-seasoned and bland, and you don’t have the high crispy fried skin to meat ratio to cover for it. Bonus story for why you should give Crown Fried Chicken a chance: my dad and little sister were in town, and they got in really late so it was midnight by the time they got to my apartment. We didn’t want to venture out of the neighborhood, and the family wanted pizza. I suggested Crown Fried Chicken, but dad was being kind of a snob and was like«Nuh uh.» All the other restaurants in the area were closed, and all the pizza options on Seamless were closed except for one that seemed overpriced and didn’t even have that great of reviews. After some more fruitless searching everyone was hungry and I was like, screw it I’m just going to go over and buy some pizza from CFC and you don’t have to eat it. And of course they ate it and thought it was surprisingly good and a couple of days later my sister was requesting«Fried Chicken Pizza.» And it only cost 8 dollars for a large pizza which is really tough to beat.

I was really hoping for really good fried chicken, since this place is basically mobbed at around 6PM. However, I was so disappointed. I ordered 6 pieces of fried chicken(2 were breast, 4 were dark), potato wedges, and mac and cheese. I came here because Rowe’s across the street was sold out of their mac and cheese and fried chicken breast. Anyway, the fried chicken did not have that nice flavorful crisp that you usually get from fried chicken and the breast was very dry. The mac and cheese looked disgusting and tasted watery. The potato wedges had an okay flavor, but were definitely frozen and still cold. I was pretty disgusted by the food that I almost ordered from another place, but reminded myself that I am lucky to have food in front of me.

I ordered a Pizza through this place on the Push For Pizza app and the food never came. I called the store with my order and confirmation number. The person on the phone was very rude with me and not willing to listen to my order and confirmation number. Then he proceeded to hang up on me. If you would like terrible service then please place your orders at Crown Friend Chicken.

I’m trying the hot wings as I’ve learned that at most franchise like these hot simply means seasoned. Also trying the BBQ wings and curly fries. The hot wings are seasoned alright, it’s well seasoned with SALT. It tastes like that’s the only ingredient they’ve used. The BBQ is «better» a sweet sauce is sort of masking the salty taste. Their curly fries are soft and squishy and I’m here wondering if I ordered diabetic mashed potato??? No disrespect to the queues of people I regularly see here but your doctors are so gonna love yah! No bueno. The place is clean and the many food posters gives it a playroom feel. The guy at the counter was VERY nice and he greeted other customers by name as they came in. I especially loved his interaction with one little girl. ONLY for his customer service skills and shop cleanliness Crown Fried gets 3 stars! The End.

I love Crown Fried Chicken. I was a regular when I lived in Philadelphia, and I’m hoping to be a regular here. The guy is friendly enough, although you do have to speak up since he’s across a pretty wide counter. It’s a standard Crown Fried — maybe a little less greasy than what I’m used to. I’m not complaining at all. My favorites are the combo chickens and the 6 piece hot wings. Conveniently located, not too far from my apartment, and close to the subway — so when I get off after a good night of drinking, drunk munchies is just right there.

It says Halal chicken all over outside, yet their spicy chicken sandwich is not halal. That was very misleading. It seems like all the other chicken is halal, so are the cheeseburgers. The quality of the food isn’t anything to write home about. But it’s definitely a decent place to grab food.

Really, really, really salty friend chicken. Cheap and fast. Open late. You can find better friend chicken near by. Really, I bet it would be awesome after about 10 cocktails but for me stone cold sober it really was nothing remarkable and honestly was pretty bland other then salty.

This place rocks, I don’t care what anyone says. It seems like this joint is just always open. I’ve been told it does close at some point, i just have yet to see it. One thing i will say is, they sure do give you A LOT of fries with the sandwiches, not sure if that’s a bad thing. Just know that you have to bring your eating pants when you’re getting food from here, because you’re going to get a lot of food in exchange for not a lot of money. Also, pizza is $ 1, and good!

Not gonna lie, I showed up at like 4am after a whole lotta cocktails. I placed 2 separate orders, starting off with a simple fried chicken leg. It was crispy, not too dry and surprisingly not soaked in grease. Foolishly thinking something else might be open at that hour I left and wandered around a bit, with no luck. Crown was definitely the only place open nearby at that time. I headed back into Crown and bought some chicken wings for some poor guy begging for food outside. I still feel bad for the guy. Sometimes you can just see despair in someone’s eyes and you could definitely see it in his. Anyway, he was thankful for the wings and dashed away as soon as I delivered them. By this time, a girl had sauntered in and the three guys eating at three separate tables were jockeying for her attention. Their game was comically bad and the girl was having fun shooting them down, so I decided to order a gyro pita and enjoy the entertainment. The gyro pita was fine. I mean, at least as good as you’d expect from a fried chicken place at 4:30 in the morning. The guy behind the counter seem really pleased with my manners and was very friendly after the first«thank you» came out of my mouth. The friendly service and the entertainment might get me to come back, to what is otherwise a place where I would never eat.(No telling what factory farm that chicken comes from and they’re certainly not advertising it.)

I have been here many times, typically after de-boarding the C or A train very late in the evening/early in the morning. I only have purchased«hot» chicken wings. I have had the fries on several occasions. The wings are not«hot»(read: they are hot as in actual temperature, as they are made when you order them, but they are not«hot» in flavor at all), but my trusty bottle of franks cures that. The wings are neither large, nor are they particularly«meaty». They are, however, chicken wings and I enjoy chicken wings late at night. The fries were soggy. Crown is one of the few places you can procure wings in this neighborhood at these late/early hours. Also, the dudes in there are nice, so, 3 outta 5. They serve pizza now. I have never had it.

Things to keep in mind: I was sober and received this food as takeout, so I’m not sure what the place itself is like. But this was amaaaazing. I had the chicken w/hot sauce, their dinner rolls, sweet potato fries, and mini potato cups. I was coming buckets. This place is by far the best fast-food chicken joint I have ever been to.

1 in the morning. Maybe 2. Who knows. A few drinks in me. No food. Instead of dealing with the transfer to the G, I just take the C all the way to Clinton/Washington. Through the turnstile, up the stairs. Thank God for legs. The bright lights of Crown Fried Chicken greet me. Summons me. I do not resist. «I just want some fried chicken and biscuits. With lots of hot sauce.» The man behind the sheet of Polymethyl methacrylate cuts me a deal: Two wings and a biscuit for some change. «Mad hot sauces, please.» He hooks it up. Why isn’t everyone a Saint like him? Now the only thing between me and my Crown Fried Chicken food consumption is the distance from Fulton to Willoughby on Washington. Maybe a .5 mile. I run. By Greene Ave I think my lungs have collapsed. It’s painfully clear that the right lung has sacrificed itself. It hurts a lot. But I keep running. I cannot let my right lung goto waste for no reason. Now I’ve a second cause to fight for. At Lafayette Ave, the seemingly crying voice inside is begging me to stop running. I refuse to be told what to do. I have in my possession two wings and a biscuit that I am determined to consume ASAP. «Do it for the right lung!(And the hot sauce.)» I consider stopping at the benches just past Lafayette, but I spot a homeless dude camped out already. «Also,» I remind myself, «I’d need a cold beverage to go with my Crown Fried Chicken Feast. RUN!»
