Like other reviewers I must commend them on their fried chicken. In a neighborhood rife with curry chicken, baked chicken or hot wings it is nice to have a spot to get delicious fried chicken from(since they closed my beloved Popeyes). I think I’ve had two other dishes that were standard Caribbean food, I dont recall it being anything to rave about considering the whole area is full of Caribbean food places. To be honest the place looks like a dump or like drug deals go down inside. I’m sorry but it’s true. I see the manager invested in large screen TVs that display the specials and the news above the take out bullet proofed window but the outside and the inside could have used that money. I can see the place coming up if they remodeled and put in CLEAN tables and chairs. Also, the wait can border on long which is also not pleasant because I really just want to get out of there every time I go. Tip: Get their Fried Chicken and the get the hell out of there quick!

They have really good friend chicken with really good sauce. They charge .25 for extra source which is insane. I’ve never had anything else from them besides their rice and beans and it doesn’t taste good. Their salad is not fresh either. I’ll stick with just friend chicken.

The premises is not aesthetically pleasing but the food was delicious. I had fried chicken with rice and peas. The chicken was cooked to perfection and it was a large serving that had me full. I’d recommend for a quick, hearty meal.

When it comes to west indian food this place does a bang up job of holding its own. The biggest thing for me is the fried chicken. You heard me right… I like the fried chicken, more so the sauce that accompanies it. Medium, all white meat fried chicken with extra sauce on rice n peas or white rice… that is the ideal place to start your experience here. This place is usually crowded and there isn’t any street parking. Be sure to pay close attention to when they call out your order or someone else will gladly claim it. Cash only business(now that the credit card machine has been down for month… dunno what that’s about)

If you want some home cook meal away from home, this is the place to visit. The fry chicken is great with the sauce. I always ask for light sauce because I don’t like when they Put too much sauce. The red peas soup is also another favorite as well. I loveeeeee the fry fish on Friday and Saturday. This is a nice place to pick up your food and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.

The sauce that’s placed on the fried chicken is what makes this place a winner in my book. Fried chicken, white rice cabbage and plantains, can’t go wrong with that.

Poor ass customer service. Rude people answer the phone(when they actually pick up). The wait is always ridiculous… i eat from them sporadically because, i cant deal with rude service or inconsideration for my time. I should be able to call their advertised number and place an order to pick up. #1 that minimizes my time to wait in that cold area, #2 i dont have to deal with the rowdy loud crowd. The price is great the food is good but, I dont mind spending more for faster and respectful service, therefore FOOTPRINTS on the next corner gets my coins more often than them!

I must be the only person whose food got microwaved. The jerk chicken I got yesterday would’ve been good if it didn’t taste old or kinda dry. Maybe it was just under the heat lamp for too long, but there’s no way when there’s always a line and I ate @8pm… They make their rice and peas with a lot of coconut in it which I haven’t had in awhile and would’ve enjoyed a lot more if it didn’t taste microwaved. Service was polite to me despite other peoples’ experiences other times. The chicken was well seasoned, spicy & would’ve been great it it didn’t taste so old/dry/microwaved!!! They smothered my chicken with a ton of jerk sauce(see my photo) I feel like to make up for the dry/oldness…smh. The sauce was ok, not the jerk sauce I’m used to, a lil more gravy-ish, but it was decent. It didn’t make up for the dryness though, but it wasn’t bad enough not to eat the food. I’m not gonna lie that I really am not about microwaved food like at all, not even at home… some people don’t mind, but it’s a pet peeve of mine. I’m also spoiled by jerk chicken freshly grilled in the barrel lately, so that was my bad for not going to the 50 other spots that probably had the barrel out front that day. Faye & King was close and I guess I ate their jerk chicken & riceNpeas on the wrong day… :( P. S. The interior of the waiting and seating area is pretty ratchet, but at least you can sit & eat.

Let me first off by saying that I agree with the other reviews in terms of their lack of service. So I will right off the bat knock off a star. That said, I love their chicken. Their fried chicken with whatever the sauce that they put on it is amazing. And it stays crispy! My first visit entailed schlepping from Brooklyn back to the Bronx with this chicken and my fear that it would be soaked through and soggy when I got back to the house. It was not the case. It was still extremely crispy extremely tasty.

Obviously, anyone who has ever been here knows that the food was always great. The fried chicken dinner, the curry goat dinner, and the cow foot soup are personal favorites. However, this place started off lacking in service and it has only declined throughout the years. Sadly, so has the quality. While I understand that the amount of customers can be a bit overwhelming at times, it’s really no excuse for food to be underdone, especially since certain items can pose a health threat when improperly cooked. And, the last time I visited, I waited about twenty minutes for someone to take my order. Apparently, the girl at the register went to do something else and only after customers started yelling and complaining did the man standing in the front even acknowledge that perhaps he should offer to assist us instead of just staring at us. I won’t lie and say I’ll never be back, but I will say I’ve stopped frequenting them as much as I used to.

Tried the fried chicken with rice & peas, salad and plantains. Chicken was well seasoned and moist the rice and peas were perfectly cooked and had a nice hint of coconut. Plantains on the side were fresh. Portions are very generous and prices are reasonable. Chicken soup was excellent lots of flavor, and provisions.

The food is good, a few weeks ago I had the $ 5 jerk chicken special and it was so flavorful. But there is just something lacking about the service so I have to take off 2 stars. I don’t think I have ever heard a thanks for coming in or seen a smile from the cashiers. My boyfriend’s grandmother lived a few blocks away so we use to come here more often. Since they don’t seem happy you took the time to go in there, I don’t bother to go in now.

So, I have this whole bias about Jamaicans making curry, since I’m of indian descent and trinidadian but after walking by and seeing a mass of people who are seemingly having a good time and normally blocking the sidewalk I decided to give it a try. I got a chicken roti which is basically chicken curry poured on wrapped in a roti. Their dhol pourie(roti with ground split peas it) was okay; the peas were fresh but the over all roti itself wasn’t as soft as I felt like it could be. The curry was okay, a bit too salty and I could not see any hint that masala was used but it was beyond edible and it satisfied my craving for it without me having to go make it myself in this damn heat or go all the way out to liberty ave in queens. Just so you know: if you go there at anytime there will be lecherous jamaican dudes there. Waiting, for you. Yes; you. They know that you’ll be coming and they are ready. One more thing. The chicken roti was 5 dollars and it was hella big.
