This place is right across the street from my new apartment. Although it doesn’t have the swanky feel of other recommended coffee shops in the area, this place was exactly what I was looking for in my new neighborhood: a place where the service is friendly and laid back, the food is home cooked, and the coffee is strong. Sometimes I come hang out when I’m working from home or blogging, and the servers never rush you out and sometimes they even give free refills! I’ve also had several wonderful breakfasts here. From lemon crepes to home fries, this place rocks them all. I saw other reviews that say the service is slow or complain that you have to get up and walk to the counter to order and pay sometimes, but I don’t really care about that! It’s a home-town coffee shop in the city, and if that’s not what you’re looking for there are plenty of other places to go to!

Went for a post-Prospect Park road race breakfast and this hit the spot! I had a apple pecan crepes, hash browns and bacon and my friend had an omelet. Yummy food, good prices. Though I did see a letter saying the ownership is changing hands next month. Hope the food’s still good…

Cheap food and good coffee! And they have a Unilocal check-in special as well. I ordered an omelet and my sister ordered belgian waffles. Both were good and yummy! Will definitely be back!

I intern a few blocks down from this place, and the staff always remembers me and loves to chat! If you’re vegetarian like me, I go for the Vegan Sausage sandwich with roasted peppers when I’m really hungry. If I’m trying to save a little cash, I get the egg salad sandwich that’s a little cheaper.(I normally don’t get egg salad, but was very impressed with the way it was mixed with dill and other yummy herbs) Their crepes are a little on the messy side, but still thin and made like a pro! Panini’s are never a miss either. Most of all, I’m very picky with my iced coffee. They make me a large Americano with soy and simple syrup. Not all cafes have this, but simple syrup’s important when you’re serving a lot of unsweetened iced drinks that wouldn’t melt all of the sugar and let it sit at the bottom. I approve!

I love living in New York– especially to eat. The options are endless. You never have to commit to any place. As soon as bad service happens, boom! You’re outta there. So easy. But here’s the thing– while I love how I can play this city like a gigolo, I often dream of setting down and have a place where I can sit, chat, get a coffee and feel like I’m at home. I have that at Gialeti’s. I have that relationship with most of the staff there, especially with Jenn. I can run over there, grab a coffee, we talk, we laugh, and I run home to start my day. Coffee’s always hot, I like it sweet, so I pour in the cinnamon-flavored syrup. Yes, service isn’t always speedy– where do you think you are, midtown? I go not for speed, but to slow down, and chat with my neighbors. It’s our stoop, and it’s fancy, it’s got La Columbe coffee and amazing pastries. My sister comes here for her breakfast sandwich, made with homemade vegan sausage. My daughter LOVES the oatmeal cookie. Jenn left last week, leaving a gaping hole in my heart. We will miss your sass, Jenn! But I promise to support my neighborhood gem without her. Because it is one.

Got the Tuna Melt on an English Muffin. I never thought to look at the menu, but when I got my dish there sat a big yellow slice of American Cheese. I just thought people stopped using this piece of shit cheese. I took it off and ate through red bell peppers in the tuna and a burnt english muffin. My cousin got a Turkey BLT and found an overpowering red bell pepper mayo. Thanks for using the most expensive bell pepper and making crap with it. Our spaceshot server finally gave us our check and never came back to get paid. Another server finally walked by and saw my card, so she finalized the transaction.

Today three of us stopped by Gialeti’s and had a very nice lunch on a beautiful spring day. When we arrived, one of the two outside tables was open but had not been cleared. I inquired inside and was told it was fine to sit there if it was not occupied. So we sat down but when no one came to clear the table, I ended up bringing in the dirty dishes and giving our table menus. I think that they sometimes forget about the outside because I also had to go inside and place our order. That said, Mimi and the other people working here are very friendly. And when it was ready, our food was brought to us. While they forgot to bring our three coffees, when we reminded them, they brought them to us right away. In terms of the food, I had an excellent veggie garden salad with artichoke hearts, goat cheese, red onions, olives, tomato, cannelloni beans and mesclun with balsamic vinegar(don’t worry, I am not turning healthy, it was because it was the final day of Passover). One of my friends had the grilled chicken panini which she said was«okay» and my other friend had the Gialeti Crêpe Creation(feta, tomato, spinach & caramelized onions) which she said was very good. We all agreed that the coffee was excellent. At the end of the meal I went inside to ask for our check but they had to ask me what we had!!! Prices I should add, are reasonable for the neighborhood. So in short, we found Gialeti’s to have good food, friendly service but in need of a bit more organization.

Enjoyed a fantastic banana & nutella crêpe(which is impossible to mess up anyway) and an iced coffee on a Saturday morning. Affordable, came out promptly, would definitely come again.

A solid three stars that could be a four but… I’ll start by saying that their prices seem very reasonable and a pretty good value. Yes, I had a Living Social/Amazon Local Voucher as well as two free coffees with foursquare checkins for my wife and myself. More on that later. Two eggs and bacon on a sandwich-size Thomas’ English Muffin and a side of hash browns were both tasty. Considering I didn’t need to add salt to anything yet it wasn’t too salty was a plus. The iced coffee was bold and good. The big chocolate chip cookie to finish was fresh with the chips still gooey. My wife enjoyed her Mimosa along with the egg BLT. A croissant on the side was big, fresh, flaky and buttery. All of this was served by Chris who was waiting on about 10 tables which meant about 25 to 30 people. He was the ONLY server in the place. He was surprisingly upbeat, friendly and apologetic to everyone. I felt bad that he was doing the apologizing for the poor staffing/management of the place. He was so busy that when he gave the check which wasn’t totaled, he asked to pay up at the counter. The older woman at the counter seemed totally confused when explaining that we were using the foursquare checkin special for the free coffees and also showed her the Amazon voucher. She had no clue how to handle any of this and seemed very annoyed and frustrated. The younger guy behind the counter finally helped her and apologized to us that this was a new process for them. I understand this may have been the first real nice Sunday and maybe they didn’t expect as much business as they got, but there should have been at least two servers anyway. All in all, seems like a great place to get breakfast and sandwiches, especially during the week when they may not be that busy. We’ll probably return to give them another chance.

Small friendly family owned eaterie in the south slope with solid breakfast options and crepes. Their dishes are filling and satisfying without making you feel like you just ate the greasiest meal of your life — even the yummy hash browns are light and crispy until most other diners’ efforts. The coffees great, and the goat cheese crêpe was very tasty with a light balsamic salad on the side. Plus it’s cheap and they’re very accommodating — letting us sub mushrooms, which they were low on, for avocado in the crêpe. Definitely one to check out again.

Taking the reccomendation of other Unilocalers-I checked out this café. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is kinda rustic not fancy but homely. Unfortunately it was not air conditioned and none of the fans were on-but it wasn’t unbearable in any sense. I tried the steak panini with caramelized onions, and garlic mayo, and cheese and it came with a handful of mesculin lettuce. The pannini was perfectly grilled the bread was absolutely fresh-the steak was tender and flavorful and the price wasn’t bad-$ 9.50 and it was a perfect lunch portion. You order at the counter and pay and then they bring you your food-it worked efficiently. Staff was friendly and tidy. Breakfast served all day-and menu includes crepes-wonderful! The place is quaint and The seating arrangement is comfortable for one who would like to spend some time here to blog or do some work-they also offer FREE Wi-fi. There is also outdoor seating . I think I found my new love-Gialeti’s. Minimum to put on your credit card is $ 10 I will be returning and may become a regular.

Gialeti’s Café is a curious little joint just beyond the boundaries of South Slope. Their offerings are pretty much a burger-section short of a diner’s, and they even serve breakfast all day. Plus, they cater. I ordered their Steak Panini($ 8.50), an almost grilled-cheese-style sandwich filled with flank steak, caramelized onions, provolone, and garlic mayo. The Italian bread was freshly baked, generously buttered, and pressed just long enough so that it was a slight toasting and not an all-out crunchy onslaught. The ingredients worked very well together and, all in all, the panini was pretty damn delicious and the perfect portion size for lunch. And, although I was never given the option, their menu dictates it is served with a side of Mesclun Salad or Chips. I received the greens, which I had planned on ordering all along — so, yeah, now, I guess I’m just gettin’ nit-picky. The café décor was a bit stale and lonely-lookin’, but certainly clean. I only waited five minutes for my sandwich, but in that time, all I could hear was the hum of some sort of generator, instead of some easy-listening radio like most joints of this nature. I’m sure if you’re goin’ there for the free wi-fi, however, you’re probably bringing your own headphones anyway. Their take-out menu is a bit misleading. It boasts weekday Lunch Specials starting at $ 4.95 and then proceeds to not list them anywhere. When I asked what these phantom specials were exactly, I was told that they don’t exist anymore and that, yes, the menu is out-dated. A meal under five bucks? As it turns out, such a thing really is too good to be true.

This place was great! My cousin and I aren’t from the area, we were just trying to find a good cup of coffee, we were surprised by their large menu, and really impressed with the food! I ordered the steak panini which was awesome, whatever their panini bread is should be mandatory for all panini’s! My cousin got their whole wheat blueberry pancakes, which were quite possibly the best pancakes we’ve ever had. But the bread pudding stole the show. It’s made out of croissants… need I say more? It was amazing!!! The staff was really friendly and helpful(with the menu and directions), and the place had a very cozy feeling to it. One of the owners even came out and talked to us about our food and the restaurant. If I lived in New York I would definitely make this a regular stop.

This is becoming a common weekend breakfast/lunch spot for me. Great little atmosphere, although sometimes it can get a little cramped and stuffy. The staff is always great; laid back without being lazy. The food is surprisingly good for this little café! It’s not always the best place to go if you are looking for a super-quick weekend brunch, but if you prefer a place that you can take your time and chat with friends over a great meal, I suggest you check it out. If you’re there for lunch or dinner, try the steak panini. Seriously. When you get back, I will say«you’re welcome for posting that suggestion».

The coffee keeps coming at this Park Slope staple, shuttled in by friendly and incredibly capable staff on a regular basis. For a time, while i was going here regularly, I was on a first name basis with the servers, who are courteous, capable, and seriously committed to making things come to the table quickly and just as I ordered. But that brings us to exactly what there IS to order: for brunch, this place is hard to beat, if you’re into paying a high premium for the good service, because the quality of the food is simply not up to par. Having visited quite a few times, I have my favorites(the bagels are brought in from one of my favorite bakeries, as are a lot of the pastries), but sometimes the items made there are disappointing at best. I have yet to enjoy a lunch I’ve had here. For a perfect Saturday morning, head to Gialetis, order a coffee and a bagel with lox(I like mine done up with cream cheese, capers, onions, and tomato) and read the paper while the sun streams in the windows and the super friendly wait staff help you while away the hours. Be careful not to ruin it too badly, though, by staying all the way to lunchtime.

I can’t love this place any more. There’s no where in vegetarian friendly Park Slope/Windsor Terrace that has options this delicious! The Veggie Bistro sandwich is my favorite but all the veggie options are fantastic. I get delivery often and they’re always fast, the latte’s are hot and well, back to the sandwiches. I’ve started ordering 4 sandwiches at once so we(my gf and I) can have 2 for lunch and save the other two for dinner. It’s so good it’s really worth saving for later!

When I walked into Gialeti’s I was a bit taken aback. I was expecting the usual Brooklyn café set up with couches and big comfy chairs to lounge in and use the free wifi. This is definitely not the case, Gialeti’s is set up like a restaurant. But once I got over my initial shock I definitely warmed to the place. They do indeed offer free wifi, they have a great menu and the owner is so friendly and creates an extremely welcoming atmosphere. She knew many of the customers. She also explained to me that they bake all of their muffins, cookies and croissants. I got the hummus wrap and it was delicious! I sat and read for awhile and know that this will be a place that I will return to.

$ 3 Cappuccinos are back! Last week, I happened upon the«soft launch» of this brand new establishment while running errands. Despite an abundance of coffeehouses in Park Slope, the south slope/Windsor Terrace area could use a few more options — and a bit more competition in the interest of quality — and we’ve received it in the form of Gialeti’s Café. If you tire of Connecticut Muffin’s somewhat dry product(this reviewer was once subjected to life in the muffinry’s namesake and found it, too, relatively desiccated) and Skybucks-high prices, and you love Terrace Bagels but pine for a richer menu and cozier décor, enter your reprieve: an outpost that makes many of its pastries on the premises, and which features a full menu of breakfast and lunch options — including sandwiches, crepes, and the owners’ own focaccia. Nice. There is a great deal to celebrate here. On his first visit, after two cups of unusually well-nuanced regular coffee, the reviewer proceeded to consume(among other things) an entire chocolate horn. Given the size and sheer, flaky decadence of the homemade confection, this activity was perhaps akin to attempting to single-handedly finish off a whole Grimaldi’s pizza. And probably an equally unwise decision, given his recently lazy behavior at the gym. $ 3 for a pastry this size is unheard of – especially since it probably contained at least $ 2.75 worth of butter. With the Valentine’s Day grand opening attended even by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, friendly co-owners Gia and Lety(who both introduced themselves on my first visit) were buzzing about, doing their best to attend to the surprisingly large mob encircling the display cases. As with any new eating place, it may take them a few weeks to settle into a comfortable rhythm, but the combination of a warm atmosphere and brimming enthusiasm that flows through an establishment run by private owners — instead of franchisees — was markedly apparent. This, folks, is why we like Mom & Pop shops. They have wi-fi too. With this combination of originality and quality, and prices this recession-wise, business bodes well for Gialeti’s. And we have a great new hangout. Now, off to do a few laps in Prospect Park…
