Decided to give this place a try for some jerk chicken. Wow!!! I definitely enjoyed it, amazing jerk chicken as well as curry chicken. Highly recommend this establishment. Will be coming back for a long time. My new go to jerk restaurant!

I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never once had an issue with anything I’ve purchased there. Their food is excellent, the staff is friendly(they can be a bit slow at times) but I don’t mind the wait, when it’s for meals as delicious as theirs. They’ve recently added outdoor seating, which is nice because there are very few seats inside. There have to be at least 8 different West Indian restaurants within a one block(2 min walking distance) radius and they are by far! Hands down the best! Must visit!

Portion sizes in here fluctuate. I get the same amount of oxtails in a lunch special as I do in a medium sized order. I guess it depends on how much the person serving your food respects your money or something idk. This is my neighborhood spot so I will be back, but I will walk out if the current server is the only one behind the counter.

4.5 — Perhaps the best West indian takeout in Brooklyn. Once upon a time my best friend lived right around the corner from IPR and once upon a time IPR was my pusher. I mean I would tweak out in fits if I didn’t get my regular dose of jerk chicken from here. The food is good. No, you don’t understand — it is seriously good. I’m talking please don’t watch me as I suck the marrow out of this bone good… You can dine in or take out, but given my previous sentence, I’ve always enjoyed my food high behind closed doors. Portions are huge(the large meal can serve two) and the servers can be flirty(in a way that makes you smile, not creeps you out).

I am not a fan of fast food so when I need food, I head to the local Carib spots in the area. My brother put me onto this place one day when there wasn’t any cooked food in the house. Being a trini I usually only go for the jerk because I can get all the other types in my house(curry, stew, etc). The jerk chicken here is very good. Well seasoned. I always get mine with rice and peas and plantain which is always good. There is usually a line, which is always a good sign but Im just impatient so I hate it. I usually get the lunch size, which is the smallest portion but perfect for me. I have had their Mac & cheese but I am not the biggest fan because I think it needs more flavor. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I’m a pasty white lady from the south so I can’t comment on the authenticity of their Caribbean food but I can say their mac n cheese is better than my mom’s(I don’t think she reads Unilocal). It’s perfectly easy to piece together a delicious home cooked vegetarian meal from the various vegetables and carbs. Just say«hi, can I have a vegetarian lunch» and they’ll point to various sides, skip the gravy and probably charge you the usual lunch price of $ 7 or so. I’ve picked up jerk chicken here for my meat-eating friends and they have said it’s good too. There is usually a line(a good sign in a restaurant) but the guys working here are friendly and keep the line moving. The neighborhood mostly has fast food and Chinese takeout so it’s nice to have a healthier option cooked by people who obviously take pride in their dishes.

As a Trinidadian living in flatbush, I’m not impressed with many West Indian restaurants but so, International is pretty much the be all end all. I normally head over for breakfast — Bake and Saltfish($ 3) and you can have veggies with that for you health nuts also their daily porridges aren’t too bad either I think the three choice in rotation are Banana, Cornmeal and Oatmeal(the Cornmeal is exceptional) Their Jerk chicken is more or less the dish that everyone goes for, it’s nice, wholesome and completely well seasoned. I tend to stay clear of their curry, as I like a bit more Masala in mine but it’s not too bad either. I haven’t had anything yet that made me think twice about eating there, if I do, I’ll re-post. So far(3 months and counting) so good. Maybe I’ll see you guys there in the morning.

My new favorite place for lunch whenever I come down to Brooklyn College. Portions are huge. I’m a big eater but there’s no way I could finish a large size. Might not be enough for 2 meals if you’re a pig like me, but definitely enough for 1.5. All of these types of meals come with your meat, rice and vegetables, and some sweet plantains. Selection is good, about 5 types of chicken(jerked, baked, curry, fried, stewed) as well as oxtail and goat curry, and some fish items too. Also, today I recently found out that they have a lunch size too, which is 2 bucks cheaper than the small size. Very sneaky, since they don’t have it listed anywhere. I feel very in the know now. I have tried the jerked chicken and the stewed chicken, as well as the sweet plantains, and the vegetarian rice. All of them are excellent and extremely flavorful. The best option for yummy non-takeout food in the area. The one bad point, as james f. has already noted, is that the wait can get slightly ridiculous as they don’t seem to have a very effective way of taking orders and paying and all that. But the people are friendly and nice, so it’s alright.

In an area dominated by fast food chains, Paradise is really good West Indian food for when you don’t want fries with that. While there are tables it is predominately a take out place. The menu consist of traditional west Indian dishes(curry, jerk & stewed chicken, oxtail, goat etc,) The prices are reasonable, $ 7 – 10 for regular size, $ 10 – 13 for large. The large is usually good for 2 people or 2 meals. I’m not west Indian so I can’t comment on authenticity of the food but can tell you it taste real good. The fact that there is almost always a line means others dig it too. Actually that one of the few negatives about the place, the line. Expect to wait anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes before you get to order. 3.5 stars
