This store has a wonderful collection of antiques, especially lamps. It is one of the most interesting shops in Greenpoint. I like to stop in whenever I am in the neighborhood as their inventory is always changing. The guy working at the front desk is very knowledgable about furniture and design and provides excellent customer service. He is very approachable, always very helpful, and a pleasure to chat with.

I’ve been to their new store in Franklin St. last week, and truth be told, prices were exorbitant. well more like extortionate I hate to say it. I’m not sure how many of you would wholeheartedly pay $ 500 for an antique expanding Scissor Light Fixture, or $ 900 for a Toledo Chair. I could really appreciate some explanation from those who have rated Luddite on the affordable side. Nothing polished about this place. Very old and rustic indeed, replete with history and dust, which kinda reflects a true feel of genuinity. Almost all items had price tags on them which is a positive sentiment. The clutter wasn’t very well curated though, and the store was very dim you’d think that either they had a power problem or simply tried to cut down on utilities expenses. Coz I’m pretty sure it wasn’t part of some brilliant decoration idea with the aim of adding a mysterious touch to the ambiance. There was almost no light at all. Sure worth a visit. best of luck with your treasure hunt, and be careful not to trip or break anything by mistake. You don’t want to wash dishes till the year 2016.

There ain’t nothing polished about this store and it’s a welcome respite from the stores that are selling the old timey aesthetic in a fancy contemporary atmosphere. No, this here spot is replete with dust, rust, and fissures. Makes you still feel like you’re on the hunt for treasures instead of picking up the roadkill of passerbys. Don’t get me wrong. This place is definitely curated, carefully chosen, only the best of the best. They have some great finds here like a gigantic bell jar($ 200 bucks? price is right!), taxidermic creatures, light fixtures, and furniture. Homeboy at the desk seemed largely disinterested with life which put a slight damper on the experience but hey, baby I don’t need your lovin’. I just want your merchandise. Though I bet I’d be more into buying what you’re selling if I didn’t get the sense that I am an insignificant little flea in your circus. A great place to go if you already have an idea of what things are worth to you. Regardless I think you’ll find fair things are priced fairly(though not thrift store priced, to be sure). Kind of a no muss no fuss one-stop curio shop.

Since I first saw this place popping up on the blogosphere, I have meant to stop in and take a look. The photos I saw were interesting, definitely reminiscent of my childhood days exploring old antique shops upstate. Today I was in the area and decided to stop by. I was impressed by the great merchandise and«curated clutter» appeal of the store. The things I saw brought me back to the days I spent inside old mills and schoolhouses, piled high with antiques and artifacts. I thought it was love at first sight, but it turned out to be lust. What I was not impressed by was the absence of price tags and aloof storekeeper. Sure, lots of great shops have aloof staff, but the lack of price tags is a big turnoff for me. Sure, the stuff was incredible and great to look at, but in the world of antiques, no prices usually means«if you have to ask, it’s too much.»
