Great place: got everything; helpful staff, get to know you, especially Mike, the lead guy. Will always go the extra mile. And least expensive copy machine anywhere: 5 cents/copy. Only complaint: label the aisles!

M&F is a great store. The first time I had gone to it was in late 70’s when I moved over two neighborhoods(from Park Slope, where I’m a native of). I still go there, several times a week, and they have practically anything you need. I get my son’s school supplies here, cards, medications, hardware supplies(electrical, plumbing, etc.), air conditioners for the summer, snow supplies in the winter, they change watch batteries and copy keys, I bought my coffee maker here, clocks, etc. And let’s not forget Lotto! ;-) OK, it might not be fancy, but it’s a real old-style Brooklyn hardware store, something you’d be used to if you were born & raised here. It’s not a big chain store, but you get better service. Mike will talk to you for however long it takes if you have a question about something and even walks you through how to use any kind of hardware, electrical or plumbing supply you buy from him if you ask for advice. By the way, this is Brooklyn, New York. A person can find anything they need in this city. P. S. — Go to the other local stores across the street and a couple of blocks away(Rite Aid, Walgreen’s), and look for the same items they have in M&F — the majority of the time, you find the same thing cheaper in M&F. I also remember the video store part! I still have my ID card!

M&F has been here for as long as I can remember. they used to have a video store to the left of the current entrance where I probably rented every NES game and Godzilla VHS tape they had on stock… multiple times. over the years the video store gradually shrunk while the general store area expanded to what M&F is now. what’s great is that you can get pretty much anything here. medicine, watches repaired, document notarizing, household shopping, greeting cards, key copying… yup, they got it all and it won’t hurt your wallet. the people who work here are really nice and helpful, something increasingly rare these days. hilarious anecdote: when I was a child, I pinched some random woman’s ass in the M&F video store, and my parents quasi-apologized with«oh, he learned that from his grandfather.» sadly, you can’t get away with shit like that anymore. the 80s were truly a magical era.

This is my favorite place. They have everything you need(and if you can’t fond it, just ask — the employees are super nice and helpful). Mike is a great person, he really cares about his customers. One time he even let me owe him when I was short a few bucks. I go here for everything household — Tupperware, Mason jars, office supplies, keys copied, watch battery changed, docs notarized, it’s all here. I have been shopping here for years and it’s always been a pleasure. As for the narrow aisles — sorry, this is a small local store, not Walmart! I have not found it a problem at all.

Absolutely the nicest people. I was hunting everywhere for my Rx which was hard to find due to a national shortage and found them. They were lovely, spent a ridiculous amount of time on hold with my insurance because I wrote my policy # incorrectly before dashing out the door, plus they’re tucked away in MF which is my favorite find-it-all-for-a good-price shop on on Church Ave– what more could you ask for?

Every time I posted something on the neighborhood listserv about looking for a particular item(it was hard to find things you need sometime in BK), at least 2 people would say to try this place. One time I needed a large padded envelope and some packing tape so I thought I would try it since it was close to where I lived. Yes, they had what I needed, but HOLYSWEETJEEBUS! This place was a damn mess!!! I got claustrophobia just walking in. VERY narrow aisles that literally 1 person(no carts or anything, just a person standing there) could fit in and just crap piled sky high. It looked like this place just gets all the reject, left over stuff from somewhere else. Everything looked like a hodge podge and it was an awful shopping experience.
