Mezcal’s Mexican Restaurant

THE worst Mexican restaurant in America. Food was disgusting; i wouldn’t even feed it to my dogs…

I don’t know about all the negative reviews regarding their food and service. All I can say, is I have been coming here for ten years. Then again, I have been ordering the super nachos and seafood chimichangas for ten years and never ordered anything else. I guess when I find something I like, i stick to it. I don’t even bother looking at the menu. At the very least, come here and try the margaritas. The frozen strawberry margaritas are excellent. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Enjoyed the Cadillac margaritas! This is my 3^rd time here. Didn’t review or check in last 2 times, I don’t know why. I like it here. I don’t know any other places since I’m here visiting from Vegas. Each time I have been very satisfied! Good flavors, portions and sevice. I’ve had tosadas, chili rellanos, fajitas, guacamole and of course margaritas! They have run out of tamales every time I have come, so I guess they are good. Maybe next time I’ll get a tamale before they run out!

Husband & I were craving Mexican food– REAL Mexican food & not Chinese people serving what they think it is. Not too many places in our neighborhood. Called 1 for delivery & the girl who answered said they were «closed» & then said they were «open late». It was 7pm. English as a 2^nd language. We figured she meant no more deliveries. I remembered seeing Mezcal’s while I was running errands on 86^th st, so I walked over there to check it out. Adorable fun spot. Love the décor. I ordered Cohamanco which I strongly suggest. Absolutely delicious! Avocados stuffed w/​shrimp in a poblano dressing. My husband was craving fajitas, so I ordered the fajita combo– Zacazonapan which is a chicken/​beef combo. The only complaint is they gave us only 2 tortillas. 4 would be more complimentary to the amount of meat you get. I ordered La Tecojota– shrimp, lobster, & rice sauteed in garlic, olive oil & white wine mixed w/​rice & peas. The lobster was a little dry but it was delicious nonetheless. While I was waiting, I had a Dos Equis Amber & the bartender was so friendly. I saw they serve frozen margaritas in water pitchers w/​huge straws. Love it! I’m so happy to have discovered Mezcal’s & hope to dine in soon. The atmosphere reminds me of the many trips to Mexico I have taken & after this winter, I need to feel I’m on vacation!

Service is slow. Had to ask for my beer three times. Food was mediocre but the chips and guacamole was good.

I decided to give this restaurant another chance, and i was glad i did. my wife and i ordered nachos supreme and beef tacos. The amount of food was insane, we couldnt finish the nachos and took tacos home. the food and service was great

The food is not good, all the meat is dry, all the flavoring is the same. We order sangria, had no taste at all, very watery. Too pricey for the rate of food, by the way we order two entrée and two drink for lunch, it charge us $ 80, I rather go across street to Outback. The only reason I give two star, all because the service is good.

Medioce mexican food and the prices are high for what you get…

This place is disgusting! The tables are filthy and the food stinks. If the tables are dirty then do you really think they are clean? My fajitas had nothing but burnt veggies and grizzle… ughhhh yuck!!! There are plenty of other Mexican places you could go to but stay away from this establishment. They need to shut their doors!

Avoid this absolutely awful restaurant.
I live in the neighborhood and because of the convienience and otherwise very limited selections in this part of Bensonhurst, my girlfriend and I have given this place 5 chances and each time have walked away extremely dissatisfied and last night, pretty angry. The service is rude and apathetic. All of the servers that we’ve had treated us as if we were bothering them by asking them for simple things like water, napkins, cutlery, extra chips. Not once did they stop by our table and ask us how everything was or refill our glasses and they all seemed like their anti-​depressant dosage is in dire need of being raised a bit. The food is mediocre to not-​very-​good at best. If you’re looking for a much better Mezcals dining experience, visit the location at 7508 3^rd Avenue in Bay Ridge but please, don’t waste your time at this one.

The atmosphere is rather deceiving. I expected top quality food and instead I received food that was rather over priced and not up to par. The portions were small and prices high. The décor was very enticing however I’m not dining here to enjoy the décor. I was impressed by their margaritas which were very flavorful, bold, and fairly priced. I did enjoy that they bring you complimentary nachos just for sitting down, but overall thats not enough to keep me impressed.

Drinks were pretty good, but the food was really boring.
Complementary salsa was decent, but then the rest of our food was disappointing. Not authentic at all (think frozen mixed veggeis mixed into the rice). Not much flavor, heavy on the melted cheese.
Might go back for a drink, but definitely won’t return for dinner.

I’ve ordered delivery from here twice and have to say that I’m surprised at the negative reviews the food arrives hot and the fried ice cream was still frozen (totally delicious an absolute must) We also love the moritas rellenos (jalapenos stuffed with shrimp, cheese and sour cream) but be warned they are HOT. Also try the flameado and Super Nachos with Chorizo

Why Why Why did I let my curiosity get the best of me?!? I pass by this place all the time and I always see it packed. So I wondered what the fuss was all about and decided to check it out for myself. Well, let’s just say… I hope people come here just for the happy hour special b/​c the food here is GARBAGE!!! I’m not going to be polite about this place bc they are just robbing customers blind with their food. Just take my word for it, the fast food tex-​mex place down the block is better than this place.

The Blizzard of 2010. That is all I think of when I think of this Mezcals. It is within walking distance of my apartment which was a huge plus after being snowed in for 3 days. A bigger plus was margaritas at 3pm. The margaritas are good. The food is ehhhhh. we had the nachos (from what I can remember). I’ve had much better Mexican for less money. We sat at the bar so I can’t really comment on the service but they were really nice, though it might have been because we were the only ones there. All in all if it’s within walking distance and there aren’t other options, it’s not a bad place to have around.

Not my favorite Mezcals, I like the one on 3^rd better.

Best Mexican in Brooklyn! Great atmosphere and very cozy, great drinks, great food! The service is great, the staff is very friendly.
