Terrible place. Service is awful and food is stale… It is fast and cheaper than other places around for lunch. But it is better to pay 50 cents extra for better Chinese food around…

Average food in quick time especially if you’re on a lunch break. The staff can be very rude and they know it. It’s a cash only business and will not make any exceptions. I come him when I’m unable to get to Hardee’s.

Meh. The food was super greasy. Didn’t like it at all. I gave it 2 stars because the workers were super nice. And the delivery came so quick.

Its nothing special, typical, bland and greasy. Fast and cheap I guess if your in a rush its ok. I am very picky with my asian food. I like the less oily places

i must have ordered food here at least 6 times as of this writing. and one time, i came here personally to pick up our order and i was disappointed by their very shabby front and interiors. the outlet needs help to spruce up the place, which happens to be quite spacious. i guess the owners are still working on the place. but i have to add the food’s been tasty. i’ve had their all day special chili(ground beef) mexican-style food, which i thought’s good. also, i’ve tasted their boneless spare ribs and chicken chow fun, which also turned out to be great tasting. servings, i think, are good for big men LOL i’ll write another review when they get to improve the looks of their place(they’re probably still trying to make money from the operations to spend on these works to make their place look more appealing)…

On days you need to spread that buck, come here. It’s cheap and fast Chinese food. Personally, I would never eat there, so I just order my meal and go. For $ 6.50 I get the brown rice with chicken and broccoli plus a side of wonton soup. This is a lot of food! Trust me. The serving size is large. I usually split my lunch special for two days.

Used to order from here all the time! The food isn’t bad in fact the food is pretty damn alright but one of the reviews is correct in saying the lady behind the counter can sometimes really have an attitude. Lunch special is great. You get a choice of a can of soda with selected entrée. You can get a soup or an egg roll instead of a soda. For the cheapness of the place the food tastes great but it sometimes gave me stomach aches.

Yuck… The ladies at the register has the nerve to have an attitude as if SHE’S Paying you to buy the food there. Get real… I would take the disrespect if the food was better. What should I expect they received a «B» rating from the Health Dept.(I see«A» ratings everywhere I go) Enough said. The food is OK, if you’re about to pass out then I’d say come here… IFNOT then go elsewhere.

I vaguely remembered this Chinese food place once upon a Poly day, with my gal pal, in our search for cheap food close to school. It was pretty deserted when I came in here today for lunch, but thought I’d give it another try — for old times sake. :sniff: So I ordered my usual from the lunch menu — chicken and broccoli with wonton soup and white rice. All this can be yours at $ 6.30. It had a crap load of rice, and I did end up throwing a good amount out, and actually had more chicken than broccoli… odd. It was good and my tummy is full… I’d come back.

Chinese food, you either love it or hate it. China star is one of those places that makes me change that stance every time I eat there. I used to live in the dorms at Polytechnic University only a few blocs away and I used to eat here a lot. The food was edible, cheap, and filling. as chinese food should be. I mainly ate here because of the lunch and dinner specials they offer. I’ve gotten General Tso’s Chicken here that has ranged from tasty, crunchy chicken to mushy, inedible, and sometimes sickening chicken. I have gotten a little sick on more than one occasion from here, which has caused me to avoid this place from now on. It might be my not so tough stomach, but it’s still a cause for concern.(Sick as in stomach aches and diarrhea not vomiting and death) I haven’t had much else from them besides chicken dishes and soup, so I can’t speak for the beef/pork dishes or the mexican food here.

My wife and I are new to the neighborhood and whenever we move somewhere one of the first businesses we check out is the local«crappy chinese food» establishment. My wife was a bit surprised to see mexican on the menu, but we decided to order anyway. This place didn’t disappoint, and I’m sure we will be back many times in the future. We ordered for delivery, so I can’t comment on the restaurant itself, but the delivery came fast(25 minutes,) and the food was piping hot, fresh from the kitchen. We had some special requests(chicken + veggies, no oil no sauce w/brown rice,) and they got everything right. Everything else(chicken teriyaki stick, steamed veggie dumplings, and veggie egg foo young) was all good quality, and a great value coming only to $ 28. I’m giving this place 5 stars for being everything we want from a chinese takeout place. Good quality, value, and bonus points for being open on the weekend in a somewhat dead weekend neighborhood.

Apparently Brooklyn has an obsession with the«Chinesican» fusion concept. You know, the marriage of the Chinese takeout restaurant and the Mexican takeout restaurant. Not a combination one would think of first, I know. But I know of at least three of these places in a one-block radius in downtown Brooklyn, and I’ve tried two of them. Super Taco Plus down the street being one(my go to Mexican takeout) and now the New China Star(for now it is my go to Chinese takeout). Both places offered«fine» Mexican and Chinese cuisine. The experience I had at the New China Star presented several important distinctions that helped it stand out from the typical Chinese takeout place: 1) there are chairs… and, and TABLES where you can actually sit down and eat. There was just SPACE in this place, and I did not know what to do with it. 2) I ordered my staple of sweet and sour chicken with rice, which ran me $ 6.25. Nothing extraordinary about that, I grant you, but wait! There’s more! When I attempted to collect my little styrofoam container of goodness, I was asked if I would like I a soda. I had just used the last of my cash on said container, so I declined. Again I was asked if I would like one and I figured that a language barrier was causing the confusion. Again I said no, and in an excited voice the woman told me «no! It comes with!» Me: «it comes… with?!?» Her: «yes yes, it comes with!» Me: «I want a Diet Pepsi.» The sweet and sour chicken was nothing to write home about, but it was decent enough to satisfy my Chinese takeout cravings. I did alter my routine a bit and ordered white rice instead of fried rice. Again, decent enough for me to order again but not spectacular. I suspect I’ll be back. But not before I check out their competition* down the street… * I’ll place bets now that this place will also be a Chinesican place. Seriously, they’re everywhere down here.
