This restaurant is now called«New Saigon» under new management/owners. I’ve avoided this place in the past as the quality of their food and service were severely lacking. But my friend and I decided to try it under the new owners and we were quite impressed! The phở’s broth was rich and the ingredients were all fresh. Spring rolls were pretty basic but still better than the previous ones! I tend to judge Vietnamese places by their ability to dish out great phở and this place sure does deliver in that regard! 4 stars for now… :-)

Didn’t even have to look at the menu, #1 Xe lua with spring rolls. Spring rolls were extra crispy and hot right out the fryer. Phở was really good, at the right temperature not too hot not to cold. I usually put hoisin sauce in my phở to add a little more flavor but this soup base was really rich and fatty, so no need. Good meal for less then $ 10.

Ordered the steamed crêpe dish and a big bowl noodle soup, both were alright. It’s a good spot to stop in for a quick and affordable eat. Service was good and attentive. Soup noodles are great when it’s cold out.

Great… just great. It’s cold and it just started snowing… again. Solution get some phở. I ordered some take out and Nha Trang Palace staff were pretty quick with my order. As soon I placed my order, I got my food in less than 5 minutes. That’s good. I ordered the #21 Goi Cuon– summer roll shrimp, pork, vegetable with rice paper. The summer roll was a bit of a disappointment. It was a bit hard. I had to reheat it to make it taste good. Goes really well with the peanut sauce. I also ordered the #1 Xe Lua–(combination extra big bowl) rice noodles beef soup with brisket, navel, frank, omosa tense & eye of Newton. I like that everything is separated when you take out. The noodles, soup stock, and bean sprouts all came separate. When I mixed it all up, It was still good and warmed my body up. The stock was good. The meats were decent. A lot of meat and a lot noodles. Which is always a plus. Good place for phở on a cold and snowy day. Wasn’t impressed with the summer rolls though.

BESTPHOEVER! The soup is amazing and flavorful, the noodles are cooked perfectly. Flushing and Chinatown does not have a place that is up to par. I also love the grilled pork chop over noodles. I love that the noodles aren’t the thick ones and cooked to perfection. Love this establishment! My bf and I are regulars here.

Not as great as Phở Tay Ho in Bensonhurst but it still hits the spot if you’re craving phở noodles. The pork chop I ordered was a little dry but that’s what fish sauce is for. The summer rolls here also aren’t up to par and didn’t taste fresh. This establishment is better than the other Viet restaurants on 8th avenue though. Come here for a cheap filling meal.

The best Viet on 8th Ave. Came here Saturday night around 6pm. Just two tables were taken out of 10 tables. Many people came in to order for take-out. We got the Combination phở — the soup base is what makes the dish taste right. No complaints. Springs rolls is the must for me. Love it. After the meal, I’m craving for authentic Viet food from Viet-town in Orlando.

I’m from california so I am picky when it comes to Vietnamese food. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a gentleman. He was really nice, attentive, and hard working. Boy can he multitask! Ordered a couple of dishes and all of them were great! Love love the eggrolls. It was crispy, the meat was well seasoned, and it didn’t taste oily! I like to wrap the eggrolls with lettuce and dip it in fish sauce. The vermicelli, with grilled pork and eggrolls was my favorite dish. I didn’t try the phở but when I looked around, most of the people dinning there ordered it. So I figure it should be good. The bowl looked huge! There’s an appetizer that I also ordered(not sure what it is called). But it is a meat dish wrapped with some type of green leaves. That was really good too. We ended the night with homemade flan for dessert. Yummy! Affordable prices, GREATSERVICE, and great food! Check them out.

No frills Vietnamese. Simply tasty noodle and rice dishes. I prefer the flavor to their food than lets say Gia Liam down the road. They also give more vegtables in their buns which I love.

I love this restaurant! I love the atmosphere of it, it’s always cheery with family’s coming in to eat, and hang out, it’s really nice. The food it self is very yummy, I always order the extra big bowl of phở with beef, I think it’s order #1 on the special menu, I’m not sure, but it’s pretty inexpensive. I also like the lemonade, it’s sweet and yummy! Anyways I do recommend this place, the foods yummy and pretty inexpensive(:

A very average Vietnamese restaurant. Stick to the phở or vermicelli. Definitely do not get the special seven flavor beef. It is not worth it and just seemed like a half-assed idea that they do not execute well.

There are so many vietnamese restaurants on 8th avenue in Brooklyn but this one is the best one! This place is ALWAYS packed and their food is awesome. My favorite is their Grilled pork vermicelli and their summer rolls are delicious as well!

This is place is really popular as it is right on 8 ave and two blocks away from train station. The food is relatively cheap even though it rose in price from when I first started coming herr. You can’t go wrong with a number one for late night dinner. However, it seems like the not so popular dishes aren’t worth order because sometimes they don’t have any or it doesn’t taste good. For example I tried order squid with satay sauce over rice once since squid is one of my favorite foods, not a smart choice as it taste weird and displeasing. Another time I tried ordering seafood fried udon,(twice!)as it was just recently added to the menu and they claimed they didn’t have any in stock. -.-;;. The service I might add isn’t that good. They seem to be friendly with locals and families but if you don’t speak Chinese or Vietnamese then you would be given minimum attention to. All in all, this is a good place to order your phở noodles, vermicelli and spring rolls(beef cube over rice taste delicious too) but other things are an iffy choice IMO.

My boyfriend and I have ordered take-out here a few times and was never ecstatic about the quality of the food. Nevertheless, we ended up at Nha Trang Palace for a late night dinner, The restaurant doesn’t have any spe. cial décor. Very simple look to it. The service here is mediocre and the staff here are somewhat friendly. The boyfriend ordered his usual: Phở Xe Lua. Smelled and looked amazing. I love how they left the slices of the beef were still pink and not overcooked. I ordered the Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong spring rolls & grilled pork with lettuce on rice vermicelli, The portion size was huge. The spring rolls were crispy and well-flavored. Every component of the dish was up to par. Nha Trang Palace wasn’t a restaurant that completely wow’ed me. I thought everything about it was mediocre. I don’t think I would come here often just to eat lunch or dinner.

Ordered the spring roll and pork vermicelli, it was just ‘alright’ nothing too fancy about this place. My sister ordered the vermicelli with beef. The beef tasted a bit off. I’ve tasted better from Nha trang.

The good: –Very large space; I’ve never had to wait for a table –Great prices(can be full for under $ 10 a person unless you get fancy) –Quick service –Spring Rolls + Grilled Pork vermicelli(#48) was delicious(the cut up spring rolls were crispy/warm while the vermicelli was cold with crisp and light) –Takes credit cards(a rarity on 8th Avenue) The bad: –They messed up my dad’s order. He wanted curry chicken and they gave him chicken that was not curry(the servers were apologetic and my dad liked the food anyway) –They left the front windows wide open, so there was quite a chill The ugly: They were playing an Animal Planet show where a man had a fish swim into his urethra

This place is not fancy but really cheap. I asked our waiter which soup he recommended he said #1. The bowl was huge and actually had a decent amount of broth not too much noodles which is usually the case. People were speaking Cantonese so wasn’t sure how legit the food was going to be. We also ordered a lemongrass shrimp dish which consisted of 5 lbs of peppers and onions and like 4 shrimps. I guess this is why dinner was only $ 30 for 3 people! The sauce tasted really thick and was drowning everything on the plate. Ugh. The only other thing that was good was my three colored ice drink and that’s not saying much.

On a somewhat chilly spring evening, we were both a bit sniffly and sneezy and took the N train down to Nha Trang for phở. Nha Trang is fairly spacious, clean, and the staff was friendly. If any of you are taking notes for my autobiography, you can note that this was the evening that I declared all variations of phở as my favorite soup and possibly the best soup-like meal in the world. Naturally, it’s cheap. They serve beer. The ingredients all seemed relatively fresh(I’m trying to not use the term«fresh» since it’s not like anyone is sourcing anything local in the big stinky) and flavorful and my lovely wife thought their phở wasn’t as salty as others we’ve had. They need to open a location on Smith Street, but until then, I’ll take the N train down there.

It took an ROTD from a prior written review(dated almost a year ago) to remind me how far behind I am in catching up to my list of to-do reviews. My last review mentions how I hadn’t tried the food but managed to note most other aspects of the place. Well I have news, I’ve not only tried the food, I’ve had it THRICE. And the good news is, everything I’ve tried so far is tasty and worthy of seocnds. So why is this significant? I’ve long noted that most Vietnamese places in New York are subpar, with the food lacking in quality and flavor. Similar to the same argument most Southerners and Westerners have about NYC Mexican food, the same can be said for Vietnamese. Yet strangely enough, the ones that are halfway decent are for some reason are located in Brooklyn(not counting«Little Mexico» in Corona, Queens). Somehow Nha Trang has managed to fit into this bubble, though they are hardly the best(even in the NY), they’re certainly far from the worst. Though the actual Nha Trang is a coastal city, don’t expect to see much regional influence from their menu apart from the standard stuff. It really just boils down to ample portions of good Viet food at a reasonable price. Give the phở(any combo) a try and try to stick with their soups and appetizers(like Guoi Cuon, Banh Cuon, or even their Banh Xeo if there are some available). The rice dishes are heavier(Bo Luc Lac, Ca Ri, etc.) and are probably the things on the menu that drag down it’s rating due to inconsistencies. If you decide to go all out, shoot for their specialty(Dac Biet) dishes, but be prepared to eat. I still vouch for their drinks. There’s almost nothing like iced Vietnamese coffee AKA Ca Phe Sua Da on a hot summer day(and conversely, nothing like a steaming bowl of phở on a winter night).
