This is a good neighborhood salon if you’re looking for a no-frills cut, color, or blow-out at a reasonable price. I’ve had my long, curly/frizzy hair blown out here four times now and have always been satisfied with the result. The best part about this salon is that you can usually just walk in with no appointment and be served right away! …not always, of course, but most of the time(in my experience).

This is a 4.5 star review(if only Unilocal allowed half stars). I’ve been seeing Rachel now for over 4 years and she and her entire staff have consistently delivered not only great hair, but also service and attentiveness. Some background, I have a lot of hair that is both thick and long — in fact it is so thick that I have never been able to do my own hair and do it well. I am also extremely picky and particular about the way I like my hair done. As a result, finding a stylist that can manage my hair, make it look good and make my life easier given the 2.5 hours or so I spend at the salon every time I get my hair done is extremely important. Rachel delivers that. My hair, although processed, is healthy and well taken care of and I always get tons of compliments. In addition Rachel has always been honest about care and maintenance. As for service and attention, I have been to places where it feels like getting my hair done is an assembly line process. I don’t like it. I much rather service that is personalized. Note that on weekends you may end up waiting a bit, but whenever needed I’ve been able to call and Rachel has been accommodating in scheduling me. Overall a really great experience.

WORST– HAIRCUT — EVER. Went in to trim the dead ends and hairdresser hacked into the front to ‘layer’ out the ends. I have very long straight hair, a razor the thin out the ends would have sufficed, this actually made me cry. The lady had no idea what she was doing. And in addition, she kept burning my ears with the dryer and actually hit me in the head with it about 15 times and she was brushing. I felt this was maybe her first day on the job. Nothing to do with speaking spanish or not. Cutting dead ends is difficult to mess up and she did it big time. Avoid this place!

had a great experience here, came in last minute to get a hair cut they fit me in and did a great job, may be a little hard to communicate what you want but if you bring a picture she knows exactly what to do, two of my coworkers referred me because i was new to the area and their hair always looks amazing. they are great with all types of hair as well.

I came here because I just wanted a wash and set. I figure you can’t really mess up a wash and set… and I didn’t want to go to Sister’s… So, positives: I liked that the salon was clean. There are two stations for washing. two pedicure chairs towards the back of the salon. And I liked that one person washed, set and took care of me after my hair dried. I don’t like factory style hair salons. However, I had no idea what products they use to wash and condition because what I presume was the shampoo and conditioner were in two big bottles that had no name on it. there was a conditioner out, Silicon mix, that you can get for $ 5 in the beauty supply store. I know I’m a hair snob but I want high quality products being used in my hair. And I know I sound even more snobby saying this but a salon in this area should showcase what they are using to wash. By the hair styling chair they had some good products on display but I again I have no idea what they use to wash hair. I was relieved that I brought my own products. Second thing I didn’t like was that the lady who washed me only let me sit under the dryer with my conditioner for literally 3 minutes. the dryer barely got hot. I didn’t get why she pulled me so quickly. I just had her wrap my hair after it dried, the price was reasonable $ 30.

This was the second worst haircut of my lifetime. It’s important to speak Spanish if you come here. I was not understood, when I stressed that I have naturally curly hair(although my hair was in a ponytail when I arrived and may have«looked» straighter). I asked for my hair to just be trimmed, but she could not understand me and, then, it was too late. My fault for not speaking Spanish fluently. But, understand that you need to speak Spanish if you would like to be understood. That all noted, super, super nice people.

Best hair cut I’ve have ever had! Rachel took her time to make great layers in my hair and despite cutting off a few inches of dead hair it still looked full and beautiful when she was done blowing it out. Reasonably priced as well :)

WARNING !!! if you have good hair DONTCOMEHERE !!! I naturally have thick curly hair and went to Rachels for 2 years to get a nice blow out which she always accomplished in making look great. During the time i went to Rachels i noticed my hair stopped curling and I thought it was due to a bad dye job. However; my hair kept getting dryer and stopped curling and SMELLED BURNed after washing !!! i would get a weekly«TREATMENT«on my hair which I figured out later was chemicals being put in my hair to keep straight. When i asked Rachel about it she told me my hair was just changing because of my age,. I AM28! I stopped going to Rachels and my curls are coming back. Its taken a year for it grow back and my ends are still damaged and straight… I loved wearing my hair curly and they were treating my hair with this product WITHOUTTELLINGME. Not a problem if you like wearing your hair straight or tend to perm your hair. For those of you you who like your curls… Spend the extra 10 $ and go somewhere else to keep you hair healthy! Very upset customer who misses her healthy long hair. Had to chop it all off !!!

Rachel always wows me when I walk out of her salon as well as the other beauticians. When washing my hair they always make sure not to break my hair when combing it out. The beauticians always give me advice on how to manage my hair and keep it healthy. FYI come early bc they close at 7!

I’ve been going to Rachel for 10 years! Before she had her own salon and worked a block over at Serenity. She is always sweet, and I always get the PERFECT blow out, even on humid days; my hair stays pin straight!
