I honestly have no idea what happened to Rachel’s. I started coming here when I moved to the area in 2006 and within the last six months it’s become a shitshow. This used to be my favorite Mexican place in Park Slope that I would go to at least once a week but now it’s gone to shit. The new servers barely pay attention to you and have often been rude, gotten orders wrong, or will basically take our orders and never come back again. Three times in the last month we’ve had our check brought to use and then had the server just completely disappear. On Friday and Saturday nights the restaurant has become a club with people just hanging out and drinking. I’ve seen multiple fights break out — and most of the time these people aren’t even ordering food, they are just taking up table space to order drinks. Like I said, the saddest thing is the decline has happened within the past 6 months so I have no idea what the eff is going on but the change has been rapid and I don’t know if I will be going back to Rachel’s.

Ok food is good but can someone explain when Rachel’s got ghetto and dangerous? I was there last weekend and a massive brawl broke out. Cars rolled up out of no where and about 15 – 20 people were involved. I saw a man punch a woman! People were fighting all over the place even the security guard got decked. I was afraid people were going to start shooting. The police showed up in several cars and arrest were made. I was told this is not the first time this has happened… hence why the need SECURITYGUARDS at a restaurant. I would recommend sticking to lunch time hours. Seriously, something is up with the owners or people working there because they are bringing in some bad folks. Stay away…

As a long-time Unilocal user, this is the first negative review I’ve written. I went to Rachel’s with a group of 6 on saturday night and had a horrible experience. Our server, Gabriella, took our orders then ignored us for the rest of the night. We didn’t even get our water refilled once after asking multiple times. It took asking 3 times for us to get the complementary chips and salsa. We even had to go ask for our check after sitting there for 15 minutes after our plates were cleared. I complained to the manager on the way out and she was extremely dismissive of it. Had she at least apologized to me or the group, that would have been that. But due to her attitude in addition to Gabriella’s I felt compelled to write a review.

This place has a great vibe. Great music, great margaritas, great Californian atmosphere. And that Margarita deal! Frozen Margaritas from Rachel’s are one of the best I’ve had in NY The food is just ok.

We went spur of the moment on our early fridays. We was sold on the $ 4 margaritas happy hour but they didnt have it anymore but that was fine because one margarita for $ 7 was on the money. The food was banging. We will definitely come again

This is one of my favorite Mexican spots in the neighborhood, but apparently it is also everyone else’s because it definitely gets crowded on a weekend at prime time, so there will be a wait and they do not take reservations. It is a fun, lively(read: loud) atmosphere. There is a back space that was once outdoors but now has a roof. I love the veggie enchiladas with green sauce. Coconut margaritas were a bit sweet, but that didn’t seem to stop me from having 3, and not cheap at around $ 11. Guac for the table is good but they will automatically give you salsa and chips.

I wanted to like this place more. I really did. I took my mom here because it seemed right up her alley. First of all, the service does suck. I won’t say we had the worst waitress I’ve ever had, but wasn’t good. Second of all, we were there at 2pm on a Thursday and they said the lunch specials they posted on the door were not good at that time. 2pm. Thursday. Okkkkkkkay. The margs were okay, but not $ 11-$ 13 okay. My mom got the $ 7 one, which was FINE, but it just felt cheap. The burritos were good– they were HUGE. My boyfriend’s Red Hook Special was the best of the bunch for sure. And I didn’t see the bill, but it was some $ 88 for 3 burritos and 3 margaritas. I don’t even know how that is possible? I probably won’t be back. I wouldn’t say never, but there are just better options.

The food is amazing but the waiters are rude as fuck and the people who go are really ghetto!!! It took them 20 to sit us and another 30 minutes to bring us the menus you can only imagine how long it took them to bring us the food. We saw about 3 fights go on in less then an hour. This is not a family oriented place. Two waiters took our order and both of them got it wrong! It’s in a great neighborhood but ***Avoid if possible!

Both times I’ve come here, it was with big groups. That’s because Rachel’s Taqueria is pretty perfect for big groups. Don’t let the front fool you, there’s a huge seating area in the back. The portions are also pretty ridiculous, so I have found myself stuffed every time – but that might be just because we eat way too many of those addictively delicious chips & salsa they give you in the beginning! My friend and I split the giant California burrito – it was massive, and it was awesome. What surprised me? The ribs. They were actually pretty delicious, tender, and fall off the bone. The beans? Good. The rice? GOOD. I was a little disappointed with the Quesdilla – which ended up just being a tortilla wrap folded over, with all the fillings disproportionally shoved into one side. So cutting this amongst your friends is difficult and not to mention awkward, what with one of you getting 3 shrimps, and the other getting 1. Try to steer clear in the winter however, because the back seating area is indoors, but not very well insulated. That meant our group of 8 was sitting back there, shivering with all of our puffy jackets on, while trying to eat tacos. Not a pretty sight.

my «taco n enchilada» was inedible A few bites and straight to the trash it went the taco was broken cause of how soggy it was I wasn’t able to pick it up AND I told the guy on the phone I didn’t want no pico de gallo what did I get? A load of pico de gallo on my food thanks. And my FDNY burrito came so ridiculously soggy my boyfriend just threw it mind you he’s not a picky eater at all but was upset for the first time ever can a manager explain to me why I would spend 30 dollars on this? The flavors were good to me but everything came just so mushy and disgusting.

This is in reference to the food from Delivery, The menu was changed which at first was disapointing because I couldn’t order tacos as singles, just as a plate. The guacamole was mostly cilantro. Really not good at all. The shrimp tacos were soggy and fell apart(maybe because they were sitting on rice & beans?) The quesadilla was made with I think a mix of cheese mostly american?! Chicken mole recipe tasted different as well. I don’t know if there has been an ownership/chef change but whatever has transpired has made my favorite mexican delivery food change my mind about where to order from. Very sad.

Excellent Mexican food! Huge portion! Really delicious! It was really worth it. When you get there they will serve you chips with salsa for free. Really nice customer service. Definitely worth going. My favorite dish is Rosarita surf and turf which includes grilled skirt steak and shrimp skewer served with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de Gallo and sour cream.($ 17-$ 19.25) definitely would recommend this place!

Tiny place that caters to a huge appetite! I had an early dinner with a friend on a Friday evening and while the establishment was crowded, we enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic(I ordered a nacho plate that came with beans, guacamole, sour cream and chicken) that I could not finish because there were layers of chips and chicken and cheese. The pink lemonade margarita is an absolute must! Watch out for brain freeze though! Rachel’s is one of the more inexpensive restaurants in Park Slope, and it’s one of the top places you should go if you find yourself in Brooklyn.

4 stars for food and the décor. Came here for lunch after I saw this place at Guy’s TV Show, food is good, however, it feels like the restaurant haven’t been cleaned well ever after the Guy’s visit… Restroom is pretty nasty and our table had some nachos and rice on it as we were seated and nobody bothered to clean it.

2.5 stars. Good for: happy hour drinks and appetizers. Great ambiance and service. Fresh made chips and salsa. Not so great: Food in general was just okay, nothing special. Ingredients were blah, not fresh. Our fries were reheated, the salad greens were old and the tomatoes were far from fresh. Dressing was oil(maybe cooking oil) served on a little cup and a dry piece of lemon. Carnitas were super dry. Major disappointment: all drinks served in plastic cups! If you really want to be that cheap, at least match the prices to what you are serving.

An hour and forty five minutes. It took that long for them to deliver ONE burrito to my apartment. I live ON5th avenue. Less than half a mile away. How is that even possible??? When it finally arrived I was so hungry that I devoured the crappy burrito that fell apart. Never ordering from there again.

My boyfriend & I were excited to come here because of the reviews & how good the food looked. To my surprise I was kind of disappointed. Our meals were nothing quite special. I would suggest you try the chicken mole burrito still though. I will come back again & try something different off the menu next time.

Okay I was super excited to try this place but the service is horrible and I got a stomach virus. I was sick for 48hours from eating the steak and shrimp. I will never eat here again.

Okay, while I am giving this place three stars it will forever be a favorite place for me to go. They have a great margarita selection and their drink prices are competitive. They also give free chips and salsa when you done in which is an additional bonus. They have seating in the front and the back. In addition service is fast and friendly; you can also count on them to be opened late. So what’s my problem with this place? The food. For starters I wish that they had flour tortillas for the tacos… In addition, the steak is rather tough; I would speculate that the grade is low… While the portions are huge and one plate and more than feed two people I think smaller more tasty portions are needed. The food just seems mass produced and lacks that authentic taste as well as a home touch to it. I guess when you are drinking you may not pay attention to the food as much… I will continue to return but will not eat any food.

Came here once after receiving a recommendation. Their food menu isn’t huge, not a lot of options for tacos but there is a decent list of burrito options. I ordered a chimichanga, which is big enough for 2 ppl to eat. I didn’t like it very much, it was covered in cheese and sauce which caused it to be soggy… when a chimichanga should be crispy. Great filling though, I ordered it with the al pastor. For drinks, I ordered the tequila bull and michelada. It was very hard for me to finish the tequila bull, I didn’t enjoy it very much. I couldn’t taste the tequila and it tasted more like dark rum to me than anything. kind of gross since I’m not a fan of rum. Their michelada was decent, can’t rave about it but it is average. It’s probably best to stick with their well known frozen margaritas, which you would see everyone drinking! A plus to coming here is that they give great chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. But a downside is that they don’t have $ 4 Margaritas anymore. The prices for margarita is now starting at $ 6.
