I’m going to echo what others said already. Huge seafood product selection, bargain prices, you can ask for samples. They also have other items such as cheeses and dairy products, jams, and pastries, etc. Their choice of caviars, both red and black is excellent! Their black caviar in particular is to die for! You can ask for a small sample at the cash register, they sell three types based on the type of fish. The kaluga fish caviar is my favorite. It is also the priciest of the three, but trust me, you will think you died and went to heaven, and will not want to eat anything else for at least a week! The other two types of black caviar are also excellent, so if you don’t have the budget, any of the three are delicious. Also, you can buy caviar by weight, so if you don’t want to spend more than a specific amount, just tell the cashier and she will fill the container to your specified amount, so you don’t spend a small fortune. Their lox is also among the best I’ve ever had. The one reason I am not giving them 5 stars is their customer service. Every single time I’ve come here, it’s been less friendly and courteous than desired — think«soup nazi,» so just go in prepared for this, although unlike the sn, they do answer your questions. Also, as was noted previously, a handful of items are labelled in Russian only, and I am not entirely sure of whether the cashier or some of the employees speak English, so be prepared to point or exlplain in very basic terms what you want, or better yet, bring a Russian speaking friend along!

I discovered this little gem by word of mouth and so glad I did! The best smoked fish, caviar, and salads. Their tuna salad is to die for. Also their homemade lox. I am yet to try the fresh fish, but so far everything has been delicious and fresh. Oh and they don’t just sell fish, if you come early enough you need to try their fresh out of the oven fruit filled pastries!!! Yum!

My son found your store through Unilocal and sent me from Chinatown/little Italy down to get the caviar we needed for x-mas dinner. The young man who served me was so helpful. He presented me with two American caviar options and gave me a taste of each. He said his dad and him had caught the fish and prepared it. I got 4 oz for the price of 2oz of the Russian. The service and pride in his product was outstanding. We need more people like him in our stores especially down there for people who do not speak Russian. Store personnel need to be kind to everyone we are the ones that pay your salary. A wonderful Holidays to everyone

Royal Seafood might not be as big as some of the other Russian stores in the area, but it often has a better — and fresher — selection. It has every kind of seafood imaginable. From fresh and frozen fish and shrimp, to every kind of pickled, smoked, baked and fried items, it’s a great place to shop for a party or simply a big meal. They also sell other stuff: dried mushrooms, lots of chocolate(my personal favorite), a great variety of teas from every corner of the world, and various jams, spreads and pates fill the shelves of the store. The service is uneven, but that’s the norm for Brighton Beach. Some of the items are labeled in Russian only, and you can’t always depend on the counter people to explain what those items are. But if you know your way around a Russian store, or if you have a friend who can walk you through it, you can find some amazing stuff in here.
