I love this place! Great vibe, great music, great beers. The bartenders are very cool and the prices are good. Why go to Manhattan and overpay when you can enjoy quality drinks here and not get whacked with a huge tab afterwards. Thanks!!!

This place is a hidden gem in south Brooklyn. F*** Williamsburg and park slope. Come here to be a hipster. Solid prices and good location. They got a band downstairs and outdoor seating. A huge whiskey/scotch variety. Definitely a must go !

Sycamore is interesting to say the least. It used to be a music venue. There’s a flower shop inside. It seems like it would be a dive, but it’s actually not. They have a wonderful whiskey and beer selection. Had a nice pour of some Nikka Japanese whiskey as well as their daily special(a very reasonably priced $ 8 Buffalo Trace). One of the barbacks took away my whiskey before I was done, and the bartender gave me another full pour. Awesome service!

Disappointed with the communication. Had planned a birthday outing there and the staff couldn’t accommodate. Tried to cram 20 of us into a booth. I can’t judge the food vendor of the night, because I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy it. As I had a group of people, and I had to find a different place to enjoy the night.

Best bar in the hood. Outdoor space is great and food is made by local small vendors when you’ve had a few too many and are getting the munchies. It’s a cast of characters over here late night, its wall to wall with people in the winter because the music is pretty legit and there are no other cool hangouts on the strip so be prepared for that when visiting on a cold saturday night. Love the spot though, pint of beer and a bouquet = keeps me coming back.

Intimate little bar. Good prices and music. The day flower shop adds an old Romaric feel to the front seating area. Dark, candle lit, dried roses: overall cozy feel. Bartender is pretty cool and quick with service.

What I really liked about Sycamore is that the first time I came here, I felt like I am a regular here. It is probably the positive attitude that the people who work here spread. The place is long and dark, and a back door lead to an outdoor yard for people who want to drink with fresh air. Prices are very low. And you can drink here 2 – 3 drinks for the price of a bottle of water in a bar at the upper east lol Cool bar(and apparently flower shop).

A flower shop by day whiskey bar by night. Good selection of both too. They are by far the most creative flowershop in the neighborhood

Great vibe and drinks. Their bar is super impressive, lots of whiskey/bourbon options. I tried their old fashioned and another bourbon drink and they were both fantastic! Kudos to the amazing bartenders that were attentive and knew how to make a good drink def returning! Only con about this place was that it was hot and stuffy inside. Went out back to the garden area and it was packed! So def go early if you wanna grab a spot outside.

Well, this is a fun and quintessential bar. Starting with the fact that during the day it turns into a flower shop, reminds me a bit of the Cinderella story. We had a really great time here with friends on Saturday night. They don’t serve food but they have local vendors come down nightly and serve up some delicious treats. They also have a nice outdoor area with my only reservation being that it closes so early at night because of its neighbors. A big and great selection of beers. The bartender mistook one of my orders at one point and was really gracious about not charging for the extra drink he poured. I thought that was really sweet of him. There is one slight issue of them not having a lot of tables indoors, so when they close the outside area it does become super cramped, especially on a Saturday night. All in all, we had a wonderful night and would definitely return when in the area.

So, I’ve been to Sycamore several times and have always dug it, both conceptually(flower shop/bar) and in practice(have had some fun times here). Last time here, it was painfully crowded, and the place was badly understaffed, resulting in long wait times and poor, rushed drinks from the harried bartenders. Its New York… it happens, right? I can forgive an off night. Gave up on dealing with the crowds and asked the bartender if I could settle up the tab. Wait… wait… bartender returns to ask my name again. Comes back again a few minutes later to tell me that he’s «pretty sure he accidentally rang my card up and gave it to someone else.» I was too dumbfounded(and it was too loud) to raise a stink. To his credit, I do think he told me not to worry about my tab, and offered me another drink on the house, but frankly(a) I just wanted to get out of the bar and get home and question the last charge and cancel my card, and(b) I’m not really sure 2 – 3 free drinks would cover it, anyway. I know there aren’t a ton of options around here(though I expect there will soon be more in this burgeoning area), and it can be a fun place, but, if you go, trust me… bring cash!

Very cool bar that also is conveniently a flower and plant shop in the day from 11am to 6pm. Valentines plans anyone? Gotta pick up a nice v-day plant for that special someone and want to chase it later with a craft beer? Then this is your spot to go to! I jest. But not really. It wins major brownie points for being within walking distance of my apartment. It also wins my praise because their music selection was keeping me grossly entertained and kept my nose out of my book while I waited for a friend running late. Happy Hour is phenomenal: Wait for it — $ 3 well drinks!(I didn’t know these prices still existed in nice bars), $ 1 off all draft beers/wines Monday-Friday 2pm-7pm and Weekends(Yes, EVENTHEWEEKEND) 12pm-4pm, Late Night Happy Hour(12am — 2am Mon-Thurs). They also have a special on alcohol for every single day. So that might convince you to come back every single day. One in particular caught my little eye on Wednesdays they do an awesome flight deal so you can sip a plethora of beers to your hearts content: 45oz pours of anything on tap for $ 9. Not bad. In warmer months they have an outdoor patio with a rotating selection of food vendors: Pop’s Wings, El Super Tacos, Thai Food, Fish tacos, sausages, etc. The ambiance inside though since I was here on a blistery cold day about a month ago and didn’t ever experience the outdoor food garden, is a combination of both sexiness and is classy with glowing bar tops and huge mirrors. But then it is also very laid-back and divey. There are also those plants. Though, this place is very tiny inside so get comfy or come early to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and let me sample as many beers as I really wanted before making a final decision. Several thumbs up and will most definitely be back.

What’s the hype all about? Nothing. The bartenders were very, very rude. The DJ was playing crappy«shopping» music. I took my friends here for a much-awaited hang out. And I chose this place because of the great and amazing reviews. It turned out to be a huge disappointment! It was very hard to get the attention of the rude bartenders. It’s either they cluster on the other end or they tend to be deaf voluntarily. When the guy with long straight hair gave us our drinks, he didn’t provide napkins. So tacky! The lady though was okay, she gave my friend a big drink and she’s the sort of bartender for somebody who’s been to clubs. The guy with the dreadlocks was very annoying and a complete asshole. I asked him to make my drink right, he said«that’s not how it works». Really!!! The place is so tiny with barely there chairs. A lot of «hipsters» hang out and order one drink and lounge in there forever having the newly arrived guests stand like a bunch of chickens in an overcrowded coop. The DJ was playing music in which he alone could dance to it. He probably had his own playlist injected into the music box and made us all suffer. The limes that they served with the drinks were all dried up and looked like it’s been there for over a month. Overall, it was a nasty experience for me. They should be thankful I gave them a one star for cheap drinks. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s not worth it.

Funny how I’ve lived in this neighborhood my whole life and there are still some secrets I have yet to discover. This bar also happens to be a FLOWERSHOP! You can get a pint of beer and a bouquet of flowers for $ 10! The vibe reminds me of botanic lab, a very plant based, dark mixology vibe, the jars and plants decorating the front window give the place an exotic wildlife vibe. The bar is set up in one of my favorite ways, drinks lining the shelves with hand drawn chalk signs around them. They have weekly special updates– check the website for them! We went on tall boy Tuesday’s– tall Narragansetts and shots for $ 6! At the lodge in the back, they serve food, as well as host open mic nights, different DJs, and more! We ran into some friends in the back and had some tamales; chorizo, pepper, delicious bar snacks. This is my new local bar hangout, I’ve decided. Can’t wait to come back.

I come to Sycamore often, so why the three stars? Because they could do MUCH better. Ditmas Park is a hidden gem of a neighborhood. It’s quiet, family oriented, a lot of nice wine bars, choices to eat, and of course… Sycamore is one of the reasons why Cortelyou road is such a gem, but some improvements need to be made for sure… There is a lot of good in this review I swear! But let’s start here… The bartenders need the biggest improvement by far. When I first started coming here I wasn’t treated that well, and neither is anyone else who comes here for the first time. It’s obvious that the bartenders show favoritism to their regulars, and THATISFINE, but I remember my first few experiences here just weren’t the greatest. When you go to a bar you’re there to unwind, have a good time, and escape from life. Part of the experience is all about the bartender… They are there to pour your remedy to wash the bad week away and should be THRILLED when doing so. But they really just don’t care, and usually take forever to take your order. They have a tendency of turning their backs too much to fiddle with the register or whatever, and once they turn around it’s like BOOM there are 5 customers waiting to be served. Sometimes it could feel like you’re just not cool enough to be served by them :(! I know that sounds silly, but theres this weird insecurity I feel when ordering a beer. It’s almost like I’m praying that the bartenders that I’ve grown to know as a regular are going to be working the nights that I go so I don’t feel like I have to face the popular kids in HS(YOUCAN’T SITWITHUS!) okay #endrant. Sycamore bartenders… If you want good tips you need to be nice to everyone… ya know. Smile at everyone… Be happy to pour someone a beer… Not everyone can be a «regular» and earn your approval for excellent service. If we have to pay to have a good time by going out to the bar you have a responsibility to make sure we’re not leaving pissed off. Last improvement, the cocktails. I’ve just never had a good evenly poured cocktail here so It’s always beer or wine for me when I come here. ANDNOWFORTHEGOOD!!! Okay it’s A FLOWERSHOPBYDAYPEOPLE! That’s so damn cute! There are beautiful flower arrangements in the front that were left over from the days business which is always really nice to see. The selection behind the bar is impressive as well. Beer, Whiskey and Wine — three SOLID themes they have going on here. Don’t go there for cocktails… Just don’t… It’s silly. DJ/music is always awesome. Is the music turned up too high sometimes? Sure. Yeah. But that’s fine at least it’s not crap music. They always have a game on, and they even have a large projector that they bring inside on big game nights. The backyard(closes at 12AM) is AMAZING! They have a large heated lamp out there so you can still enjoy the outdoor scene without freezing. You’ll probably share a table out there with people you don’t know. I always meet really cool people when I’m there out of no where. Food! They always have different food vendors throughout the week and you’ll usually have up to three dishes to choose from. I think this is genius because it’s always a pleasant surprise and you’re never saying to yourself«but I’m sick of the sameeee fooodddd» so that’s nice. Overall, I would absolutely recommend it because the good outweighs the bad. Every place needs its improvements, but SERVICE is SO important. I come here pretty often because it’s convenient and it DOES have a lot of amazing characteristics. When It’s a quiet day I could do work on my laptop in the backyard so that’s another reason why I go so often. However, if it wasn’t like a block away from my house I don’t know if I would come here that often because really some of the bartenders just aren’t nice… Clean it up! TL;DR: Awesome beer, good music, backyard is great, don’t go there for cocktails, service isn’t the best but you’ll live, great spot for a big game night.

Sycamore is a neat multi purpose bar that also sells flowers and has a rotating food vendor in its rear patio. It’s very pleasant to walk in because you’re immediately immerse in the aroma of a floral shop. As you walk further in, the aroma fades as the bar scene emerges. They offer a few great craft beers on draft along with some bottles options. I was excited to see offerings from Allagash. In the patio, there is plenty of covered and uncovered seating. There is a rotating food vendor there. During our visit, Poffees was selling mini Dutch pancakes. Sycamore offers an awesome experience!

Cute place, good beer and whiskey selections, but their cocktail selection is weak and the bartender wasn’t my favorite. Stopped in with a group of 6 on a Saturday evening and was immediately impressed with the row of High West whiskies(one of my favorite distilleries) lined up behind the bar. We grabbed a table out in the back garden, which was lively but not raucous. When I went in to order, though, the cocktail list was short(5 drinks or so) and all were of the heavy, all-booze varieties, which was not what my wife and others were looking for on a warm summer evening. So I asked if the bartender could make a whiskey sour. Nope, no egg white. How bout a whiskey smash, with lemon and mint? Nope, no mint. Um, okay, anything else along those lines? No, «we don’t stock any of that fruity stuff, just alcohol.» So everybody here just gets hammered on straight whiskey? I finally ordered an Anderson Valley gose, which was very good, but my wife’s Boulevardier was, as expected, super strong, and not well balanced — too heavy on the vernouth, making it syrupy, and the few little rocks melted right away in the outdoor sun. I’d go back for a beer, or maybe to sip a good whiskey neat, but not for cocktails.

Really enjoyable bar in an area that seems devoid of any really enjoyable bars. I came here with my GF while waiting for a show at kings theater. It may be over half a mile away but it was very worth it to camp out for an hour or two before the show. The bar itself is attractive, a huge whiskey wall, quaint decorations and the hints that this is a florist during the rest of the day. They have a large backyard area that I am told generally houses a food truck however when we went the truck was absent. Drinks were inexpensive thanks to aggressive happy hour pricing. $ 3 wells and $ 1 off drafts. The GF and I got happily buzzed on the cheap here. I don’t live in the area at all, but I enjoyed this bar and if I find myself here again I would come back in a heartbeat.

It appears that I am quickly becoming a regular at this place. Well what’s not to love? It is within walking distance to my house and is a dual purpose store that alone is a turn on. It has outdoor and indoor seating making it possible to hang out with friends. The dark inside gives it a cool lounge feel. There is also a crowd but it is never too packed. I love that I can use my credit card as some places are cash only. I didn’t think the drinks are pricey for the size. The ambience will keep me returning though.

***Bar Review***** Stopped in with a few friends for late night drinks. Great music, cool bartenders, and great liquor selection. The atmosphere was really chill and I hear it is a flower shop during the day. Plus you can get a beer and flowers for $ 10 for when the lady is mad you are at the bar late ;) Thanks for a good time Sycamore

A flower shop and a bar and an event/music space. Back deck included at no extra charge. The front of this shop has those gorgeous types of flowers you’d see in a Victorian print or an anthropologie ad. Pretty affordable prices for the quality. They’ll wrap a bouquet up in brown paper and ribbon to complete the gift. The bar stocks tons of beers and spirits and some wine. I love the beer and mini bouquet special ~$ 10 for charming the pants off of those you’re with. The basement and the main room hold all sorts of events: music, crafting, spoken word. They have themed beer or whiskey tastings the last I checked and you can check their website for what’s happening now or join their mailing list. A darling place to wait for a table at The Farm(sister resto, they’ll call or come get ya) or as a destination on its own.
