My favorite local bar. Such a great place coming in after a long night of work. There’s two bartenders here — sweetest girls ever — the reason I keep coming back besides the drinks. No DJ but they play great music and honor requests! I come here a lot so crowd depends on the night — some nights can be quiet and other nights we can party till after hours :-) And now they have beer pong Friday nights!

I don’t know what people are raving about, the place a shithole and the drinks are overpriced. I am holding a menu in my hand, a laminated piece of paper that is and the laminate is coming off and just wobbling. All the guests have the same thing. Does it cost so much to print a new one and laminate it. I look at candle that is lighting our spot, and a chunk of glass is missing from it, I look closer it says Brooklyn jewish memorial something. Really? The owner is so cheap that even when your free candle break, you can’t replace them? Burns in the couch, chairs, just straight up missing chunks. Would have given it 1 start, but 2 Stars for the girl that makes the drinks, when she actually pays attention, she makes decent drinks.

Still a great place — was there over the weekend… NOTCLOSED as posted. Good chill place to bring your girlfriend or a group of friends if you guys just want to come and enjoy a few drinks and have a hookah or two. It has a sit down area with couches… but also has a long bar. Very good quality hookah and they make very good drinks. Friendly atmosphere.

Great hookah lounge to hit up anything of the week, especially on the weekends. The DJ plays great music and the bartender makes amazing drinks. Must check it out!

Came in Wednesday because we felt like drinking something more substantial than a Bud Light can after a few slammin squares at L & B. RAUNCHY list of drink and menu items. If it wasn’t «Dirty Sex Kitten» it was«Filthy P*ssy». It was a really nicely decorated bar and the sex theme was momentarily funny but didn’t really jive. The bartender was a friendly younger girl(didn’t look a day over 17), who made us strawberry pina coladas and coconut mojitos with the kind of subdued pep and knowledge of spirits you’d expect from someone older. There were only two beers on tap, Bud and Weinstephaner,(German wheat beer) which she assured me was delicious(is she even of age to drink? I thought) but it truly was, and I thank her for introducing me to it. The only other patrons in the bar happened to be a quiet bunch of kids smoking hookah. Not long after we ordered drinks, the bartender erroneously allowed one of these kids to hook up his iPhone to the speaker system. No joke, the place immediately turned into Club Pacha, if Club Pacha was a 15×20 room filled with beautiful antique couches, hookah smoke and no dance floor. Usually a playlist doesn’t make or break a place, but the music was really loud and there were max 10 people in the whole bar. Just… strange. Where Tanjia loses points in the mismatched ambience, it regains momentum with great tasting beer and at the very least, a platform for what could be a great bar… I’ll have to check it out on the weekends to see if it’s any better.

This place is a local gem. Clean, quaint and very pleasing to the eye. The hookas are cheap but excellent. Full bar, always well stocked. The friendly bartenders Alisa and Alena will make any drink. BTW worth of note, check out their house drinks menu, its worth a peek. It is a very out of the way, low key place. If you frequent it you tend to get to know the crowd fast. PS: their couches are sooooooo comfy!

This place is really awesome. Definitely one of my 3 fav hookah bars, if not #1! I’m almost afraid to testify to how great this somewhat hidden gem is, so that it doesn’t get all crowded! The owners are super nice and friendly and the staff is good too. The Hookah is smooth and they have a FULL bar(any place that has midori gets extra points in my book) and great mixed cocktails. While this place is on the small side, it’s not calustophobic. I think it’s size is part of its charm – it’s cozy with an almost antique(not in the grandma-ish or overly stuffy way) décor complete with dark wood furniture and velvet couches. I’ve been here with about 10 people and we did end up taking up the whole back wall! Admittedly, space was a bit tight but not uncomfortably so. Needless to say, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place for super large groups. Tanjia may be good for groups of about 4 people. Actually, I think it’s pretty ideal for couples on a casual date or just 2 friends looking to smoke hookah and shoot the breeze. The neighborhood that Tanjia is located in is very residential – things are pretty quiet at night and there are really no signs of nightlife besides this place. I think that because this, in fact, is not a booming commercial/social area, public transportation is somewhat limited. This actually is the one fault I found with Tanjia. It is a bit out of the way in terms of public transportation since the nearest train station(D train) is about a 10 minute walk away. There is a bus that runs here – the B64, but due to the recent MTA cuts to bus service, B64 service completely stops after a certain hour at night. So if you end up staying kinda late here at Tanjia(and why wouldn’t you… it’s awesome!) and the B64 had been your mode of transportation, please be aware that you have to make alternate plans for getting home.
