Still giving this a good rating cause the food and service was good but it’s 2016 when you go out to a bar you don’t always have cash. To have a restaurant and a bar that is cash only is dumb. Wings are good and nice bourbon list.

First time I walked into the place it was loud, there were no seats available, and there no one to greet me or give me instructions. I didn’t know there was a «system». I was tired and hungry and not in the mood so I left. My second visit I sat at the bar and figured out the tricks. Seating is open… sit anywhere you want, even at the community table. If you want a drink — order at the bar. If you want food — order at the window near the kitchen. The entire place is cash only so be prepared. Now for the rest: Bartender was nice and served us quick. There was a pretty decent rotating tap selection. Food was pretty good. I tried the sriracha wings and they were excellent. I thought they would be too hot for my wimpy self but I thoroughly enjoyed the hot kick combined with all the flavor. Now that I know the system I will definitely be back… probably for happy hour.

This was a very laid back, chill location with a mountain of fries(the kind where if you are even remotely trying to diet you should give up immediately) and crispy wings. I’d just had wings earlier in the day so the bar was set high. They did not disappoint at all. Very crispy fried shell of batter on the chicken with a coating of sweet, sticky sauce. Fantastic and worth the try. Don’t be weirded out when you have to order and pay for your stuff in this cash only place at two different bars on site, one by the kitchen and one is the actual bar. There is a family feel to this neighborhood bar so curb your cursing for sure because there are little people everywhere. ;-)

Burger is still excellent. Fries however are softish, mushy, not crispy, exceptionally battered, or outstanding anymore. Lost cred!

Went back here after a long while but it has not improved. Food is good, good beer selection but bad service and attitude from the bartenders Don’t leave your cash on the bar. They will take it if you are not looking. They are very rude and non verbal. Go to Farrell’s across the street. At least they are honest and real people

We were looking for a place to grab a beer and a meal, and unfortunately this is not a place that you can come in and be seated. The entire place is like a giant bar stool. No one is responsible for service or making sure that people are not sitting with one glass of wine for the entire night while others want to sit and actually get food. It is first come first grab basis for seating. It sounds great that a group can come in and sip one glass of wine for hours without anyone coming up to them and ask them to clear the table. However, it only sounds great when you are not the one who is standing like an idiot in the middle of the place looking if someone is leaving. The entire place was filled with people sitting with one glass of whatever for ages, and that is not good business practice. Also, I understand why they keep getting health violations and their grade is currently pending. The place was not clean, and we just got a bad vibe from this place.

What happened Double Windsor!!! I was looking forward to a great meal after a long time away and the food was very disappointing. The catfish sandwich was blah and bready and the chicken sandwich was bland.

Hard to know just what to say about this place. Overall it is good, I guess. The complaints I have are more about the ‘style’ of the eatery rather than any of the traditional judging criteria(food, service, price). While all those areas are handled just fine here,(my meal was quite savory) everything just seemed to have an ‘amateurish’ or ‘juvenile’ feel to it. They actually did a good job with my order; only a 15 minute wait during a dense crowd. Bustling ambiance & atmosphere… despite that sort of silly gastropub décor you see everywhere these days(chalkboard menu, plank tables, faux rusticness, everything a throwback to a past that never was). There is more oddness in the ordering system: you approach the kitchen window yourself, place your order with the chefs and then the chefs bring it out to you based on a little numbered placard you must keep with you. But anyway, who are these diners? Who are these servers? How long have they worked in food service? Is this their career? Doubtful. The whole ‘Paul Bunyan lumberjack’ style going on, plaid flannel shirts, nose-rings, etc. Gives off a vibe of ‘undedicated’. I don’t think these people are poseurs; I think they are just sort of flimsy to begin with. There’s no deliberate fakery involved. It’s just a place where everything is style, style, style. The whole thing is over-styled. They do good business. The food is competent, and decent sized portions… but still, somehow… just ‘off’ in some way. The ‘choices’ and ‘decisions’ behind it all. It’s like, hey you’re jazzing up my burger! But. I don’t really need my burger jazzed up! Just give me a burger the way I’ve always had burgers. Don’t give me audacious, innovative, cutting-edge french fries. Standard, regular fries will do. Eh. I will rate the place with 3 stars and even though my burger meal was satisfactory there was just something ‘experimental’ which struck me about the Windsor. NOTHINGWRONG, but just something ‘weird’ which maybe only comes across to me…

Man we usually love this place, but recently the food has been pretty bad(and has always been overpriced). Bummed because we used to come here all the time, nice beer selection, but damn, the burger they served me the other day was straight up raw.

Atmosphere is A+, Service was wonderful, food was delicious. Online downer was that it was cash only, but that could be a good way to make sure I don’t drink all of the beer. They were playing good background music, laid back place.

I liked this place. I’m weird about«hipster places» but I really liked it. I ordered the grapefruit cocktail and I didn’t like it at all. Then the ginger one and if was great. Prices are higher — $ 8 – 10 for a small cocktail. For dinner I got the catfish sandwich. It came with a delicious aioli and French fries. Yummmm. Wasn’t worth the $ 13, though. I would’ve paid no more than $ 7– it wasn’t anything special. They had a decent(small) menu. Mac and cheese, a $ 17 salad, grilled cheese, etc. it was cool. It wasn’t the typical bar food. It was a step up. If you order food, you have to go to a window. There are no waiters. You get your own drinks. There are communal tables. Surprisingly, none of this bothered me. It’s a typically hipster park slope bar. But it was overpriced. I would come back.

So first time I came here I was loving their chicken wings. It’s a sweet and tangy sauce and it’s awesome that they have a drumsticks only option. That’s s plus if you’re picky like that. They also have some other interesting food items that were good like the Brussel sprouts. Their burger is basic but good and fries well seasoned, but nothing to write home about. I personally don’t love the fact that it’s communal seating and there is no wait staff. Tables are poorly tended to(for cleaning). And you have to keep getting out of your seat to get what you want/need which could be annoying when the place gets crowded, as this is a bar. Regarding the bar… I can’t say it’s anything special. I’m not s beer person so I can’t say much about that. Their cocktails were blah at best, and their hard ciders are nothing special. Prices for food are good. Idk, first time I loved it but I think I was on a quest to indulge in buffalo wings and this place hit the spot. The second time, it was lack luster. But it was entertaining listening to basic white girls say LIKE50000 times in 30min.

This place is good but really annoying. Damn, the wings with the black sesame seeds will change a man’s life. Then order a drink and be like… ok, fake ass fancy place. whackest happy hour on earth. $ 1 off everything. word? So this $ 87oz pour of milk stout is now a mere seven dollars? Here is my money. Can I get a little eye contact and human warmth barkeep? Nah? ok I’ll still tip but you are a wiener. But check out the wings. Change a man’s life.

As the Baroness of South Slope and the Duchess of Double Windsor, how’s about a third update to my DW review? I think it’s time to add on that 5th star. Of the innumerable things I love about this place(ambiance, lighting, communal tables, bartenders; I could go on forever), the most notable thing is that Double Windsor works for everything and everyone. A date, a group, a stroller, parents visiting, work meeting(ok, maybe not at night), playoffs of whatever sport du jour we’re obsessing over(Let’s Go Mets!!!). Sit at the bar and you’ll make a new friend(or boyfriend… just saying). You can find your niche here with any crowd and it’s always welcoming. I always recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Things not even worth mentioning: everything on the menu is bomb. The rotating beer list. Those wings. I even had the steak salad once and it was superb. The best burger — always worth getting bacon and cheese for a few bucks more. Yes, OK, fine. I know what you’re thinking. «But Yelena, this is a block from your house. It’s right off the F train. Of course you would come here!» The truth is that this place just never disappoints. Bring your cash. Bring your friends. Bring me. I’ll meet you at Double Windsor.

I really really like the vibe of this bar. Really cool, chilled out with a great selection of different beers. People next to us were ordering food and even though I just ate, it smelled delicious! Bad side; Cash Only. One star off for that lack of convenience.

Excellent beer selection here… If your in the area I definitely recommend you stop by. The bartender was nice enough to help me select some beers and offered me tastings without even having to ask. Unfortunately I came here late and the kitchen was closed so I was unable to try the food. Theres definitely a nice chill vibe here and will definitely be returning to try the food.

When we moved onto this block we were stoked to have a bar like the DW down the street. This spot is truly a place that adds to the culture of this community. They have countless craft beers on tap and a menu board of snacks to order in the back that range from burgers to honey siracha wings and seasonal favorites. Try those siracha wings– they’re to die for! They also have reliable WiFi which makes it a great afternoon spot I can hang out at when i work from home

Came to the Double Windsor randomly as we had a meeting closeby and looked for a cool spot for a burger & beer. 3 of us came in and sat down; note to future patrons reading this review — Don’t wait for a waitress. There’s a small short order window in the back where you place your order. We ordered 2 bacon cheese burgers and one BLT with an order of the sirracha honey wings. Additionally we all had Downeast Ciders. The burgers were cooked perfectly. The cheese was delicious(we went with America over cheddar this time). Bacon was awesome. The fries were really good as well. The portion sizes were really good for the price. The BLT Wasn’t enjoyed as much but that may just be a matter of preference. The wings? Eh. I wasn’t a huge fan. They were cooked perfectly, which was a huge plus but we just didn’t care for the flavor combination. The ciders were really good as well. Overall it was a positive experience, service was good, the place is clean and has a cool atmosphere(even the bathrooms had a lot of cool art etc). Most importantly the food was good. One suggestion; the cocktail list has a list of drinks with unique names, but no description of the drinks. DW probably could have milked a lot more $ from us with some short descriptions on the list.
