LOVE The Shanti Shack! I got a bit lost trying to find the place though. Somehow googlemaps directions take you on the other block of the street. The food is amazing. I got the sandwich and salad combo and it is a lot of food! I expected it to be like half a sandwich and a small tiny salad, but I got a thick grilled cheese and a huge plate of salad. YUM. The smoothies are delicious. I love that they use fresh ingredients — which is rare. Somewhat expensive though! We got 2 juices and one lunch combo and it came out to almost $ 50 but worth it. Also, the people working here are very friendly and sweet!

A visit to the nearby Smorgasburg on a sweltering summer day left us parched and somewhat grumpy and the Shanti Shack stepped in to provide the libational refreshment we needed. Separated from an adjoining yoga space by a mere sliding door, the Shanti Shack is aptly named for its humble, rustic, wood-heavy décor. We were greeted by a woman who greeted us with a sweet, «Are you hungry or thirsty?» The menu and the glass-enclosed bread bar before us was replete with yummy looking goods but we were parched and ended up ordering some fresh juices. I had the beet medley while my friend ordered the watermelon juice, both of which were freshly made before our eyes. When we told her our drinks were to stay, the owner handed our drinks over in two tall glasses and invited us to either enjoy our drinks at the bar or upstairs in the lofted area. We chose to head upstairs, more out of curiosity than anything else, and we were delighted to find a cozy area with several cushions and low sofas, where we could kick off our shoes and lazily sip at our juices. My beet juice was fresh and sweet, with just the right burn of ginger to finish off each sip. We both liked his watermelon juice better, which was a little sweeter and beautifully mellowed out with some veggies. We lounged around for about half an hour and no one came upstairs to rush us out of the space, which gave us plenty of time to drink, chat, and desweat. Highly recommend!

Every time I go they’re not open, and this is during supposed business hours. Would love to try it some time!

The staff here at the Shanti Shack(yes Brownie, I’m talking about you!!) are super friendly, helpful and fun, which is only half the reason that this should be a regular spot in your Williamsburg rotation. Great food, great drink, great vibe and a neighboring yoga studio will feed your mind, your body and… well, you get it. I will be back!

Sometimes you find hidden gems that remind you of all the wonderful things in life. The kind staff explains the ingredients in each flavorful menu item. Everything is made with love, it’s nutritious and most importantly, delicious. While I waited for my unique quinoa-lentil loaf, the woman who runs the shack offered me water and told me to take a few minutes and relax on a bench outside. LOVEHER. It is a bit pricey as most vegetarian Williamsburg jaunts are, but come here a few times a week to feed your stomach and your soul. :)

Why am I such a sucker for niche healthy places??? A few weeks ago, my friend and I decided to venture to Williamsburg for a day of fitness. Having spent two hours pumping, squatting and generally interval-ing, we desperately needed a refuel but knew that we could not really stomach anything other than — yes cliché — a juice or smoothie. After trolling through Unilocal for a few minutes, we fixated on Shanti Shack. It may have been the dehydration but we definitely had a tough time finding this place. It’s anything but a shack but definitely deceivingly small. Upon entering, we were greeted by the sweet, sweet yoga smells of sandlewood, cucumbers and vegan sweat. Shanti Shack is actually a part of a larger, boutique yoga studio(ah this is why it’s located in Williambsburg). I came here again with my mom, as she is as much of a sucker for healthy places as I am. Drinks: — Hearts of Saam: This was very light and fresh, with a casual kick at the end from the cayenne. — Hard Body: The beets play a smaller role than I anticipated in this drink. The carrot and lemon came through for me, which was disappointing because I love beets. — Watermelon Aloe Vera: Ah this drink not only looks pretty(and I don’t even like the color pink) but it tastes like heaven. — Nutter: Perfection, especially after a hard workout. I’m definitely coming back to try the food!

Holy madness. This place has got my number. A humble little desk in front of kula yoga, Shanti Shack will blow you away with its gorgeous healthy treats. The place is run by a delightful woman named Brownie. Yup. And she has refined the art of making health food to being artisanal and ultra tasty. Everything feels handmade and juiced with love. The zucchini bread is a great example. I have never had gluten free zuc bread this moist. She’s been refining the recipe for a decade, just so your tongue and belly can do the love dance. I have to force myself not to look at it in the display spin have a chance of resisting it. It’s just that good. I’m hooked on everything. There are 6 seats. And an upstairs(barefoot, on cushions). Usually very chill except right after the Saturday yoga classes where a line can form. This is a seriously delicious restaurant that you will miss if you don’t look carefully. A secret still. :)

I eat lunch at the shanti shack everyday. I would find this nearly impossible to do anywhere else. The variety, creativity, and care that Brownie and Katie put into their food is unparalleled. They are both ambitious and passionate about what they make, never cutting any corners. They source much their ingredients from farms and use only the highest quality produce. This makes a huge difference and sets them apart from so many other places. Their attention to details are on par with what you would get at an upscale restaurant. Something as simple as a garden salad is served with castelvetrano olives, shredded beets, caramelized sunflower seeds and a perfectly ripe avocado. They know how to subtly accent the ingredients with the right seasoning. Each dish is cooked or roasted perfectly. The roasted broccoli for example, had a lightly charred salty crispness to it, but was still firm and has crunchy bite to it. The daily specials are always surprising and are creatively presented. The Friday«fun day» burrito is served in a crispy tortilla with a homemade salsa verde over a purée of heirloom tomatoes with amazing pea shoot greens on top. Perhaps most important, their food is as healthy and energizing as it is delicious. I never thought I could eat a vegetarian lunch daily, and I now can’t seem to eat anywhere else. Oh, and if you haven’t tried their zucchini bread you are missing out on a great pleasure in life!

Firstly, the Shanti Shack is a gem in general. The food, drinks, the service is always top notch. Now if you’re considering doing a cleanse: Brownie and the Shanti Shack team make the cleansing experience a dream, so please don’t hesitate and go for it. You’re in the best possible hands with the Shanti Shack team. Waking up every morning to get my juices and a hug from Brownie set me off on my day of cleansing on such a positive note. I am forever grateful. It’s truly the most delicious assortment of food. You’ll feel great, centered and loved before, during and after. Thank you! I’m looking forward to doing my next cleanse with the Shanti Shack gang. Namaste.

Shanti Shack is one of my favorite spots in Williamsburg. The food is fresh and delicious, great for vegetarians. It’s also one of the few places in the hood to get fresh vegetable juice, the shlixer and the nutter are delicious and so refreshing after a yoga class at kula. I think what makes this place extra special though is the woman who runs it, Brownie. She goes out of her way to get to know you and has a tremendous spirit. I did a three day cleanse under her guidance. As someone who has done many cleanses before, this was my favorite experience. I can’t recommend it enough!
