Came here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed it. It’s a great hybrid sort of bar — bocce and chill/lounge vibe on the top floor, and a more«clubby» vibe with a DJ& dancing in the basement. Definitely recommend!

it says they’re open til 4am. they’re not. they were open til 2am on this thursday night. being open until 2am is fine. there’s nothing wrong with being open til 2am. but when Unilocal AND google say that the bar is open until 4am, but in reality it’s only open until 2am??? that’s wack. hella wack. i tried to tell an employee about this, and his response was«we are open until 2am, you have to leave.» this man wouldn’t even converse with me about the subject. smh. SO. here i am giving this bar a 1 star review and potentially hurting their business. and you know what? i’m okay with that. because at some point in time they mistakenly listed their hours for a thursday night as being open until 4am, when, in fact, they are not open until 4am, they are open until 2am, and that’s wack. don’t go to this bar, it sucks.

Who knew Bocce ball and beer went together so well! Although, it does tend to get packed and the wait to play can be a while. There is a club downstairs that offers comedy shows, magic, and some music. Come early to make sure you can get a game at bocce!

The crowd at Union Hall varies between young yuppie hipster hybrids and older yuppie hipster hybrids. I don’t mean this in a bad way, necessarily(I think) but there definitely is a Park Slope-y version of jock-y Irish pub going on here. If you are looking for a place with any«edge», here it is not. Example: a couple ordered Blow Job shots, which I literally have not seen someone order since 2008. Disclaimer: I noted this to the bartender and she made me one on the house, which I did and it was delicious. The bartenders have always been nice and the prices are what are expected from a place that draws in the ‘I have a high paying job but I also want you to see my vintage shirt’ crowd. The décor is nice. They have bocce courts(I stand by my yuppie hipster hybrids label). What really makes this venue a draw to me are the events downstairs. I have been to everything from kareoke nights to surf rock shows. They have a lot of comedy coming up(Wyatt Cenac filmed his special here, in fact) and other events like ‘Erotic Fan Fiction’ competitions. Downstairs definitely struck me as the ‘I listen to NPR’ section as far as patrons go. This is fine, I listen to NPR too. I sound like I am being pretentious about this place, which I am I guess. I shouldn’t be. It is a beautiful thing when bros and thrifters and book readers can all coexist.

My group and I came to Union Hall on a Friday night around 12:30 am. After going to a few places that weren’t to my taste I knew walking in that I was going to like this place. It had a good mix of living room type space for a more intimate setting for couples or groups just looking to talk, but also provided a lively space by the bar and farther back for people looking to socialize more. While I didn’t play myself, a few of my friends enjoyed playing bocce ball and the rest of us were able to sit comfortably nearby to watch. There was a good mix of people at the bar, bumping into the odd few every now and then. To me that makes the night all that more interesting. Downstairs there’s a space for shows, whether it be live music or a DJ. Overall this place is great and I can imagine suits the needs of a bunch of different types of crowds. The bar service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere very fun.

Union Hall has pretty much everything that you would need from a bar. Whiskey, comfortable chairs, mood lighting, dancing, and indoor Bocce ball. Lot’s of room, even when it seemed pretty crowded. We were able to get on the Bocce ball court without much of a wait and those who did not want to play were able to get some comfortable seating nearby. I like the juxtaposition of the well designed and comfortable space on the first floor and the grungy dance room downstairs. While there wasn’t anything going on down there when we were there, I like the idea. It makes sense to me, get sweaty and gross, rubbing up on one another, or act all refined and shit upstairs. The best of both worlds. A diverse crowd as I would expect with the previously mentioned juxtaposition. I enjoyed the weirdos rubbing elbows with the yuppies. As it should be. People were pretty friendly. It was easy to get your hands on a drink. Staff were good at what they do.

Beware! My boyfriend and his friend got food poisoning from here today. Do not ignore the B rating on the outside of the door. They didn’t care and ordered food anyway. In addition the old man running the bar was super rude to us. He didn’t say one word as we came up to the bar and asked for drinks. I did enjoy the atmosphere, but noticed a musty smell while sitting on the couches.

Great place. Good selection of beer, decent prices. Good crowd. Nice comfy couches with fireplaces, several. Has many separate areas to sit in. Bocce ball! Nice smoking area in garden outside. Great choice. Been here many times.

Maybe I’ll give this bar a fourth star when I actually get a seat by the fireplace. The atmosphere at Union Hall is great, but when it’s packed, which it always seems to be whenever I’m there, it’s not even worth it.

How have I never come here in the past? It’s a nice spot to go for a date or just to chill with some buds. The place is tremendous, with a library feel, couches(not so comfy), complete with bacci ball and a fire place. Downstairs is where the action happens. They have talks, music and shows on any given night. Interesting people and topics to rock your socks. Union hall loses a star for their lack of mixology. They are good for craft beers but it would match more with the décor to have really creative and delicious cocktails.

Finally came to Union Hall on a Saturday night and loved it! I loved that this bar is so laid back. There were so many people just hanging out or playing bocce ball in the first floor which was cool to watch, then there’s the basement area. As soon as you walk downstairs you’ll find the bathrooms and then there’s a room entrance to the left. That room has a stage, dance floor, and a bar. There are some benches and a couch scattered throughout too. It’s such a chill laid back vibe. Also, the people that gather at this bar seem like a fun chill crowd. That Saturday there was a band performing in the beginning and then they switched it up to a DJ. The DJ played so many throwbacks –it was mostly one genre though. He also wouldn’t take any requests — I wanted them to play Major Lazer! Despite the fact that there should’ve been more variety in the music selection it was still a lot of fun. Note: The only annoying part was that it took an hour for the DJ to start playing. The band left around 12 and then the DJ started playing at 1. There were people just hanging out waiting for the DJ.

I’m in love. What a sexy, sophisticated establishment with character and variety. This 2-story bar has something for almost everyone. For the after-work young professional looking to relax, there is a lounge area near the entrance with oversized leather couches and chairs, and a fireplace. For the bar sport athlete, there are 2 bocce ball lanes in the back. For the live music enthusiast, bands play nightly downstairs. Most importantly since this is a bar after all, for the beer connoisseur, on tap is a good selection craft beers. My favorite part of Union Hall, though, is probably the 90’s hip hop spinning all night! We came here on a Friday night, parked ourselves in a booth, and stayed for hours. There was a con, however… The mixed drinks suck; overly sweet, weak, and pricey(~$ 10 each). So stick with the beers when you go to Union Hall and you might just fall in love, too.

I love this place plain and simple the atmosphere the crowd the drink selection. They make a mean hot toddy which comes in handy on a cold night definitely check this place out!

The beer selection is actually very good, and the boozy sweet tea is inspired. Usually I would recommend such an establishment to any bar enthusiast in the Brooklyn area, but unfortunately due to my numerous service issues with the bar staff, I just can’t go over two stars. From my own experience and the experiences I’ve witnessed, the bar staff is simply not qualified to run their establishment. Prone to curt responses, high tempers, and poor attitudes, the bar staff treats a medium density, beer appreciating bar audience like a high density, sports bar audience. In my experience, bars with this tendency miss out on easy tips(these are drunk people, for God’s sake!), something that even an amateur bartender should understand. One star for some excellent pretzels though.

2 for the food, 4 for the drinks Came here early on a Friday(like 630 – 7). There was only 1 bartender so even though it wasn’t busy it took a while to get drinks. The drinks themselves were good. I got a vodka soda & bartender didn’t skimp on the liquor. Prices were great which makes it 4 stars. Food, pretty disappointing –pretzels were rock hard even when they were first served. Dipping sauces were great. –Spicy fries were more like potato wedges with lots of pepper. Not crispy at all. — nachos had stale chips & toppings were sparse. The chili they added was pretty good but honestly there was like 2tablespoons of each topping for a big pile of chips so you really had to ration it. Atmosphere is cool, looks like a library or a study with bocce ball in the back & a comedy/music venue in the basement. I’d come here for a night out but would def skip on the food next time

This is probably one of the coolest pubs in Brooklyn I’ve been to. It’s a really chill atmosphere with a Ivy League library feel with regal bookcases and couches. Plus, there’s a whole space with bocce ball, which I find to be so freaking cool. Unfortunately, the time I went, there was a group outing of people, so the bocce ball was completely taken over. I could see that they had a dance floor in the basement, but since I was there on a random weekday night, there was not much going on down stairs. But despite these mere misfortunes, I still had over all a great and chill night. If you’re looking to find a cool, tranquil place with good vibes to meet up with your tinder dates or meet up with good friends, I would definitely check this place out. I heard it gets crazy over the weekend, especially when they open the basement for dancing.

What keeps me coming back, you say? 1– Attentive service(relatively speaking…) 2– Great space/décor — library feeling with boccie ball in the back 3– Dance floor in the basement! I think they may charge a fee some days? Also not open on an off night, only Fri/Sat(maybe Sunday). Most of all… probably the 7 minute walk back to my apartment.

This place is chaotic at nights on weekends. Despite the high ceilings it’s narrow because of all the furniture and gets packed and rowdy drunk. If I’m in the area and need a restroom, I question if it’s worth it battling through that nightmare just for that. On the other hand, during the daytime, it’s pretty nice here, even on weekends. My friends and I come here sometimes after brunch to grab a drink and hang out. During the day you actually get to notice the fireplace and all the wooden bookcases. Have a nice conversation, lounge around on the leather couches. It’s very light and bright inside during the day time as well. Apparently the front walls are all glass. Who knew! Also, No left over beer/bar smell either.

I can easily see how this lovely bar could become my favorite place in park slope. Craft beer prices are super reasonable and interesting(I had the victory winter cheer, $ 5 at happy hour, and my friend had the slyfox). We were here on a Tuesday evening, so it was a low key night with a great atmosphere. Just super chill and relaxed. Next time I’ll have to try and get one of the cool victorian-style couches near a fireplace, but I was perfectly happy to score a huge booth near the bocce ball. We played a round and it was a great way to have a drink and do something a little different: I’d recommend it for a really fun date or double date. If I had never tried the food, I would have given 5 stars. But we tried the beer cheese with Ritz and the homemade pretzels. neither of these items was bad per say but I just felt disappointed after loving the bar itself so much. The beer cheese was a pretty weird texture. It was crumbly and very difficult to get onto a Ritz. The flavors were good though, and the jalapeño didn’t disappoint in the spice department. The pretzels were $ 5 at happy hour. They were a decent snack, but I honestly wouldn’t call them pretzels. They were more like baked dough. The accompanying mustard was okay but the second dip was a sweet and spicy sauce– a weird flavor profile with the pretzels but I kindof liked it. I would’ve preferred a melted cheese sauce or a spicy mayo or Wasabi dip though. Anyway, I’ll definitely be back. I’ll bring everyone I know! But I don’t know if I’d have food here again.

This place is ridiculously chill. I came in here with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and plopped my ass on a couch by the fire. My friend got a beer but I just enjoyed the scenery. This place has bocce ball, a full menu for food, a reserved seating area for parties, a downstairs with seating for events, a full bar, 2 fire places, the most comfy couches and a library. I don’t think you can take out books, but it’s pretty cool just to sit with a book and read. When I came it wasn’t very busy at all, but quiet and relaxing. The fire places are gas so nothing is actually burning. It was very pretty anyway.
