WOW! Just moved here from IL went to Radio Shack and the selves were empty… came along on this place and Scott the owner had everything I needed and all the free help and tips he could give me. You just don’t find places like this anymore, a throw back from the good old day’s. Same location for over 60 years, looks like there moving down the street so if you get there and their gone look around Scott say’s he lost his lease but is moving close. Thanks for the great personal service. Brian

Every time I need some obscure item they seem to have it in stock. Great staff and super helpful. I drive out of my way to support them and am never disappointed. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

I’ve been coming here for years. The staff are helpful and very knowledgeable. In addition to the standard fare one would expect from an electronics store, they also have a good selection of interesting and vintage components, things like carbon comp resistors and higher quality film and foil caps, if you are a bit of a cork-sniffer like myself. If you are an electronics hobbyist, you must check this place out.

This is a classic OLDSCHOOL-REALDEAL electronic shop. They have some very hard to find stuff-capacitatators, etc., very cheap. Need a/v cables? Don’t go to Fry’s or Best Buy-go to Ford’s. The staff knows ALOT about electronics and problem solving for electronics. They truly enjoy what they do. Walking in is a snapshot of history-tons of old stuff to go with the new. Old school pilots, ham radio folks, etc. know Ford’s. So should you. This has been in the Ford family since the 1940s. Meet the Ford brothers and the excellent staff-awesome knowledge.

I have been coming here since the early 1990s when I worked at Hughes Aircraft, and procurement regs were much more slack. Now I come here for all my UPS batteries, and other misc electronic gear. This place, and Ford family are the best. they have all been here forever, and they all know everything about electronic gear. You will not find some pimply faced teenagers like you can at Fry’s.

I was tipped off about this place by my buddy who does low-voltage wiring work. It is a serious OG electronics shop. Pretty much any part you can think of, they seem to have a bins of them. A lot of the parts seem to be either surplus or take-outs, so the prices are really good. Even the new stuff seems pretty competitively priced. The best thing about Ford is the guys. They all seem super experienced and knowledgeable. You can totally bring in some random part that you don’t even know the name of it, and they can point you straight to it. Sure beats the clueless teenagers at Fry’s.

I was charged up. I had gotten a stupid fix-it ticket because my 3rd brake LED light wasn’t working. Thank you Long Beach’s finest for being on top of things(dripping with sarcasm). Upon further investigation, I found out that this seems to be problematic with Infiniti G35s. If one LED light is out of whack, nothing works, cost for a replacement brake panel. $ 200. WTF!!! Even though my car has less than 60,000 miles, it was out of warranty because it was over 4 years old. Several Infiniti forums suggested fixing it yourself by replacing the diodes or LEDs. This is where Ford Electronics comes in. My knowledge of electronics is limited to 8th grade shop class and various home projects such as light fixtures etc. I called Ford and talked to Jeff about my dilemma. He said they had some LEDs and that I should bring the panel down so we could see if he had something that would work. Jeff was awesome. He tested the panel and we found out exactly which LEDs weren’t working. He found some LEDs that would work and even drew up a diagram on how to solder them up and which post goes on what side. I bought a soldering iron, some solder, the LEDs I needed and a bunch of cool little files and snips for great prices. The files only cost a buck. I was«shocked» because the«charge» for all the stuff from Ford Electronics was only $ 40. In today’s «current» economy, every dollar counts. All in all, I saved $ 160 because I didn’t have to buy the part from Infiniti. Thanks Jeff and Ford Electronics for great customer service and those cool little files. I put them to use with all the solder I spewed all over the place. Bottom line is I fixed the panel and gained some electrifying knowledge.
