Gloria was so easy to work with, from making payments, to communication, and pick up! She always provided quick responses to my emails and the cake was not only beautiful, but it beyond delicious. My friends and I throughly enjoyed the beauty of it and the taste. I would definitely order from her again!

Had a birthday cake done by Layer After Layer and it was not only awesome looking, it tasted great! Everyone at the party was raving about how cool the cake looked. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a custom designed cake! Ask for Gloria, she’ll hook you up!

This is an overdue review. I ordered my son’s 100^th day cake from Layer After Layer and it was the best decision I made! Gloria’s cake is not only cute and pretty, but it’s absolutely delicious! All my family members enjoyed her cake and we loved the design of the cake. It was baby blue, baby yellow, and grey themed and I explained about this theme over texts only. She did an amazing job! She even did extra decoration for me and I was so grateful for it. Gloria was always very prompt in responding to my needs and wants and she is super professional. I was very happy to work with her. Thank you so much for all your hard work and making our special day more special!

Cakes are decorated to perfection each time I have ordered with Gloria. She takes the time and effort to create each cake beautifully. Not only are the cakes decorated to each client’s likeness, they taste amazing.

Ten stars!!! There are many bakeries and cake designers in Orange County. I’m from San Francisco and needed a cake over the Thanksgiving holiday. I didn’t know where to begin. I came across Layer After Layer on Unilocal — so glad I did! Gloria did a phenomenal job on my baby’s 100 day cake. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she exceeded all expectations in design and taste!
Gloria is an artist! You pay for edible art. While there may be less costly cakes out there, I could not find any that are as detailed and nearly perfect as those made by Gloria.
We went with strawberry and swiss meringue frosting. I was sad to cut into the beautiful cake, but no regrets. It was very tasty! Even my party guests commented about how super moist the cake was.
Gloria is so incredibly talented and very professional. If you’re looking for a cake that is out of the ordinary, look no further.

In total disbelief of this page. Either they’re paying these people for fake reviews or they fired all the good employees and left Gloria to handle our order.
We’ve had issues in the past with our cakes for special occasions and after finding Layer After Layer, I was excited to pay the deposit for our cake as this was one more thing I didn’t want to have to worry about. The cake was to be picked up on Sunday — the day of the party. It was on our invoice or order form and in my email. And because of our past experiences with the lack of freshness, we wanted same day pick up.
Gloria emailed on Saturday and said that our cake was ready for pick up. We told her that our order was for Sunday and that that was a mistake. Gloria attempted to cover up this clerical mishap — but to no avail. We were not having it this time as we’ve been through this before. She then said that our style cake is always baked the day before — which means it would be 2 days old and not as fresh as we were looking for in the first place. After calling her out on her repeated lies, we told her to cancel the order and that we would be by to pick up our deposit in full. She then told us that we would still be charged a supplies fee (which was never brought up, recorded or documented) of $ 50. After several attempts of calling, she texted that she was in an area of no service (yet could text). At this point, it was too late to order from somewhere else, so after talking it over we thought it may be best to ask for compensation and try to meet somewhere in the middle even though we did nothing wrong. She very firmly said no to any discount and told us that she would give us a full refund if that’s what we wanted. Back and forth we went and eventually got our refund as we could not reach a compromise. The cake looked good but we’ll never know how good. This could’ve all been taken care of quite simply — admit you made us a mistake and take $ 20 off (which is what we originally asked). Gloria was extremely unprofessional, stubborn and rude. If I could leave no stars, I would’ve but that wasn’t possible. This makes me question this bakery and their honesty. I really hope that they’re not making cakes early and just telling paying patrons that they were made that morning. This was unacceptable.
I’m not angry — just disappointed. I rarely go out of my way to leave bad reviews but I thought that this experience needed to be shared. Consider yourself warned.

Layer After Layer custom cakes are awesome! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing many of Gloria’s custom made cakes and cupcakes and they’re all so wonderfully made. Very detailed and perfect in every way. I was lucky enough to get a cake made especially for my own birthday/​bridal shower/​bachelorette party and not only was it incredibly beautiful it was also super delicious! I will proudly be referring her to all my friends and using her in the future. You will not be disappointed :)

I order a lot of custom cakes for many different occasions. I was very happy with our cake. I was able to order the cake within the week of the event and it was awesome. Cake was delish and the decoration was on point. We will order a cake from her again :)

Gloria was amazing. Super attentive, responsive and made our cake with the exact design we asked for. Cake was delicious and of course perfectly made and beautiful. We ordered macarons as well and they were DElicious!!!

GLORIA MAKES THE BEST CAKES & CUPCAKES~!!! I ordered a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. Oh! I also ordered a small cake for my daughter’s 1^st birthday smash cake. ALL of them were absolutely delicious and they were too pretty to eat! The chocolate cake was so moist and had perfect sweetness! My mouth is getting watery as I write this review. I had some of the cupcakes left over after the party and ended up eating 4 cupcakes to myself the next day haha. Thank you so much for making the perfect cakes and cupcakes for Lauren’s 1^st birthday and I will definitely order again soon! :)

We hired Layer After Layer for our son’s 1^st birthday. Gloria made a super cute cake. It was exactly what we wanted and it was delicious. Her cakes are very intricate and her craftsmanship is superb. She was very professional and easy to work with. She made sure to do what we wanted. Thank you!

I’ve ordered a few custom cakes here and each and every one has received incredible praise. I love the custom work and the amount of amazing detail in each piece. I just give Gloria a picture, theme, or idea and she turns it into a little work of art. There are off the shelf cakes and then there are LAL Cakes. Gloria is amazing and hand makes everything so cute! In addition, the cakes are so light and delicately flavored. If you’re looking for a heavy, sugary, and frosty style cake then this is not the place for you. Gloria is the boutique Cake Boss!

I have nothing but praise for Layer After Layer. From the very first message I sent, Gloria was prompt with her replies, as well as professional and warm. And when it looked like things might be getting out of budget, she worked with me to come up with something that was more wallet-​friendly and still absolutely adorable, which I am so grateful for. The cupcakes she made for my son’s first birthday looked amazing AND they were delicious! (After the party, we discovered guests had been hoarding them to take home.) Even my mother (bless her), who hates sweets and was nagging me about getting custom-​made cupcakes, later said they were the cutest cupcakes she had ever seen, and wolfed one down without hesitation.
I cannot recommend Layer After Layer enough; Gloria is wonderful!

LAL did my birthday cake that was golfed themed. I had requested for a special customized cake and they delivered! The cake tasted delicious and the creativity was outstanding! I would recomment using LAL for any event you are having and most importantly the listen and deliver! Great service, great product, great experience! I’ve ordered/​seen/​tasted many of Gloria’s cakes so I can vouch for the beautiful craftsmanship and exquisite taste of her product. She will keep in close contact with you about design ideas for your unique occasion and whip up an amazing cake that will be the hit of your party! Not only do they look good, but they are so moist and rich tasting without being overly sweet. Highly recommend!

I ALWAYS recommend Layer After Layer to anyone who is in need of a cake for an event. I first got to try their cake at a Super Bowl party and my life has not been the same since.
Many fondant decorated cakes I have tried often sacrifice taste and solely focus on aesthetics. The cake could be beautiful and skilfully made on the outside but the actual flavor is not memorable or worth mentioning.
This is NOT the case for LAL cakes! I was genuinely surprised to how moist and flavorful the actual cake was. It was love at first bite.
I beg the owners to open a physical bakery so I can enjoy their goods minus the special occasion.

I’ve ordered several cakes now with Layer After Layer and each time they always surprise me with the creative design, the delicious cake flavors, and the presentation.
My two favorite cakes was one that I had made for a co-​worker who loves CoCo Chanel, not the bag, but the individual. I gave Gloria a vague description and didn’t really know how she could transition that into a cake design. I literally told her, «she likes CoCo Chanel, and this is a famous quote that she likes,» and the outcome was super classy and one of a kind. My entire work team raved about the deep chocolate flavors and swiss meringue buttercream frosting. I also got a cake for the boyfriend, a golf-​lover and the final product was so spectacular! The cake held up really well throughout our entire transportation process from OC to LA, and when we took it to the restaurant it was a grand showcase that got so many compliments. The cake was so detailed and had so many components to it, and the best part is that the flavor was just as impressive as the design. The personal touch was just what was needed to make the birthday boy and his friends ooo and aah over the dessert and the surprise.

Layer After Layer blew my mind with their cake decorating skills and professionalism. The cake that LAL made for my birthday was absolutely spectacular! I have ordered from LAL for special party events, church events, and birthday events and they have never ceased to amaze me. I have never seen a cake made with such precision! Their turnaround time is phenomenal and it does not show in the decoration nor in the taste that they rushed your order.
