hmm… not sure what the hype is. i had the iced americano and it tasted like water to me. I like my coffee strong and this wasn’t cutting it for me. none of the latte flavors seemed special; they just had the standard flavors. i came to get some work done and it was a bad decision to come here. first, they play music so loudly that it’s quite distracting. there are a lot of people talking so it only contributes to the noise level. there is a limited number of outlets and in order to get to them, you have to crawl under the bench to plug in your cords(that is if you’re sitting in the main room), which was quite annoying.

Stopped by here tonight after dinner next door(Jopok Toppoki). Place was pretty cozy and décor simple. Of course I had to try their Affogato for $ 4.50. Damn Gina!!! The espresso was damn strong. So strong I think I’ll be up all night! They gave a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall a nice, rich and creamy drink and did I say it was strong? The servers were friendly.

Parking stinks in this area(esp at night since there’s a chicken place right next door). Green tea latte is pretty good. Good amount of that matcha taste. The one thing that I really like about this place, is that you can get a free refill of an Americano(iced or hot) after you’re done with your drink. Just remember to ask. Cookies are super good, but soooooo greasy. Guess that’s why it’s so good? Haha. I would definitely come back if I’m around the area… during the day.

My first time here and I have to say it’s very nice. The drinks are awesome! Not too sweet, unlike Starbucks, and the barristas actually ply skill to their craft. It has WiFi though you’re required to obtain a wpa key, and ample seating space without being empty. The music is modern/pop but not too loud. My only criticism is a lack of electrical outlets though they advertise as being a good place to work. However, with patience, I was able to grab a seat with an available outlet once somebody else left so it wasn’t a big deal. I’ll remember to bring a power strip next time. The staff is very friendly and professional and keeps the place clean as well as bringing drinks to your table.

So, I’m going to say that I was a little disappointed that this place doesn’t have a phone number. Checked here. Checked the website. I wanted to see if they were open on New Year’s… so I checked their social media, and since nowhere did they post that they where closed, and nowhere did they give me the opportunity to talk to a human being, I figured the regular hours were in effect. They were not. I understand why a small business wouldn’t want a listed phone. I had a small business for many years… but owner convenience shouldn’t come at the expense of customer experience. Just an FYI. I still love this place, but it killed my desire to go out of my way to come whenever possible.

As I slowly begin to delve farther into the world of mocha’s and lattes, Van Dykes as quickly became one of my go to places for specialty drinks. Van Dykes is a nicely setup coffee shop in a strip mall style center across from the Fullerton Airport. They serve up a nice selection of coffees and Korean style desserts and the service is always quite friendly and the orders have come out correctly and promptly each time I have been here. My go to drinks are the strawberry or banana lattes(the strawberry here is far better than the one served at Coffee Code up the street in my opinion). The drinks here tend to be less sweet than some of the other places I have had them and for me that is a good thing. They also have a large selection of mocha’s, smoothies, teas, affogatos and desserts such as waffles, brick toast, honey bread etc… Be sure to grab a stamp card at the register to use and earn free drinks(I always forget until after I have ordered and see others use it). I have not yet tried any of the dessert options but with my go to for Brick Toast no longer in business, I will definitely need to check this out sometime down the line. If there was any drawback for me to Van Dykes over other similar coffee style joints in the area it is the pricing is a bit on the higher side and the upcharge for iced beverages over hot beverages is a bit ridiculous in my opinion(although I am beginning to see this more and more). A small latte here is 5.25 and I can get the same beverage elsewhere for less money but the quality is good overall so I can’t complain too much as I know that coming in. Overall, this is a quality joint in North Orange County that I am sure to continue visiting many more times to come. I will definitely be back to check out some of the dessert options sometime soon.

The place was cute and open real late. Its a perfect study area and it does get quite busy inside. There is a lot if people that come inside and it can get a bit loud. Its nice korean coffee shop but can be quite pricy. When I came to order, I wanted to get waffles with fruits. But the guy kept telling me the mochi bread was the best and I should try it. At first, I decide to get that but I ask what the topping was. They told me it was red beans. I had to change my order to the regular bread since they don’t let you change toppings of the mochi bread to fruits. I kind of regret getting the regular bread. There was waaay too much bread. It was very fulling since the bread was pretty dense. I wish their was more fruits to it or the bread had some flavor to it. Overall, it was alright. Maybe next time I come back I’ll get coffee and the waffles.

NOTE: I WOULDGIVETHEM4.5STARS This is one of the best coffee locations around the area. They roast their own beans as you order your espresso. So the the taste is very strong and rich! Their latte art is really cute but not as elaborate as other places though. I tried their regular latte and Hazelnut latte, and both were great! The Hazelnut latte was not too sweet but just the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. Décor is very cute and home-y, and a great place to study. There’s a wall between the loud area and the quiet area, so you are able to focus better despite the noise in the shop. The only thing that I would ding them for was the waffle. The batter for the waffle was not well-blended, so it was not crispy enough. But the decorations for the waffle is definitely picture-worthy, and I loved the green tea ice cream on top.(Note: For the plain waffle, they give you vanilla ice cream, but you can always ask for green tea.) I would definitely come here regularly now!

This place is totally adorable. I love the atmosphere. If you are a coffee lover, you will definitely love this place. I order the Honey Lemon Tea(sometimes hot, sometimes cold) and its really good. They actually make it with real lemon slices and honey. Its delicious. This tea is great for the cold season and especially if you’re suffering from a sore throat. I also tried their Green Tea Latte as well and its pretty good, too. All their mugs are cleaned very well. My friend ordered a Latte and said it was delicious as well. The foam décor as pretty too. This place is also great for studying. I would recommend coming during the mid afternoon because you will have more space and quiet. If you go at night, except the tables to fill up quickly because customers from KoKo Fried Chicken and Ttokpokki shop tend to come over for a cup of tea/coffee. Overall, this is a really cute coffee shop! ^^

WAFFLEREVIEWONLY Waffle is life. I wanted a good waffle. I’ve only had the«healthy waffle» and was not a fan. The waffle was very dense and had sunflower seeds mixed in. Let’s cut to the chase. The sunflower seeds had the old oily nut taste. It reminded me of eating two weeks old multigrain bread… the waffle itself deserves a 1⁄5. But the fruits were fresh and the plate was beautifully presented so kudos for that. Advice: Try the plain or cream cheese waffle.

i’ve heard great things about Van Dyke but the iced lattes we ordered were too cloyingly sweet, neither of us were able to finish our drinks SCORE they offer both almond and soy milk for the lactose intolerant drinkers —iced coconut latte with almond milk: one of the most popular drinks on the menu, but it was just too sweet. the worker was nice enough to give me a sample of the coconut syrup when i inquired about this drink —iced caramel latte: also pretty sweet maybe i need to come back for the strawberry latte & give them one more chance NOTE: if you want to be loyal they have a stamp card!

In café-hunting for a new hide-out in which to be inspired and to doodle/scribble, I came upon this cozy little nook, hidden away on a street down which I rarely drive. Seems I’ve taken a turn into a different dimension, as these Korean people ACTUALLYCAREABOUTTHEIRCOFFEE. I almost had an aneurism from trying to process that. I made a face when I first tasted my cortado, about which the adorable kid behind the counter had apparently never heard. I didn’t tell anyone that I thought it was too milky. However someone approached me and offered a free second cortado– a triple! AND he invited me to always speak up if something wasn’t quite right. Um, what? Yes, folks, hell might’ve frozen over. Koreans who care what their customers think exist. Oh, and that cortado was delightful. However I must say, I doubt I’ll be back, due to the blaring and painful music. It makes for a schizophrenic brand and a terrible atmosphere. I’ll likely pick up coffee on my way somewhere, if I ever pass through again.

My visit here this morning was like a trip to the Twilight Zone… I walked in and asked the girl at the counter if they had coffee — just plain, old regular drip coffee. She explains to me, in a very bored, low voice, no they just have an Americano or I could get a pour over for $ 5.50. I had to keep asking her to repeat everything she was saying because she continued to talk so low that I couldn’t understand half of what she was saying. I ended up just leaving. I’m really confused by this place. $ 5.50 for a pour over?! That’s outrageous. This is a shitty industrial part of Buena Park — prices like that you’d expect to find in Silverlake or West Hollywood. I don’t even think Intelligentsia is that pricey. Also, they had a bag of coffee that was $ 50! And why do they open at 10am? Wouldn’t you open earlier? I thought this place would be a hidden, industrial coffee roasting establishment — like somewhere were you can get fresh roasted coffee without all the bullshit of flavored drinks and overpriced pastries, but I was sorely wrong.

Loved this place, they really know how to roast their beans and pull a shot! It had so much cream it seemed I was drinking a Nitro coffee Stout! The place has modern Asian look and the staff is friendly. Especially on of the servers, she was bringing wonderful towering sweets that really looked amazing and she always had a beautiful smile, even at me, that looked like a weirdo taking a snapshot of her lol !

This place is so great — I came Saturday afternoon to study with my bf, although it gets busy so you have to come at a good time! They have a separate room for those who like a little peace and quiet while studying. Cute décor /environment, bathroom was clean. ++ Coconut latte ++ So smooth & yet light coconuttiness(that’s totally not a word — sorry!) ++ Affogatto ++ So delicious!

A korean owned coffee shop with high quality specialty coffees and lots of waffle/brick toast/dessert options. It’s primarily a great place to work since it’s pretty spacious and offers wifi. I had an iced coconut latte, and the coffee was some of the smoothest I’ve ever had. The coconut flavor was balanced between subtle and overpowering, and the drink itself was overall very refreshing and delicious. I also ordered a «healthy» waffle, which was a waffle with kiwi, strawberry, and banana drizzled with a little chocolate syrup. They were nice enough to let me switch out the ice cream flavor. This dish is definitely made for two people. The waffle wasn’t amazing, pretty standard bisquik put into a waffle maker. I think honey toast would’ve been a better option. For a place to chill, have dessert with friends, or get some work on a laptop done, this is a pretty good coffeeshop.

The Honey Bread here is a five star dessert, the cappuccino is five stars, pulled by an expert barista, and the service…5 stars too. The Honey Bread is two thick bricks of bread that have buttery, crispy, honey sweetness on the outside, yet remain surprisingly light and soft on the inside. The«plain» is covered with whipped cream and fresh fruit including strawberries, kiwis, blueberries and pomegranates. The toast is caked together with a thin layer of nutella and the whole thing is drizzled with chocolate syrup. It is not overpoweringly sweet and has a nice balance of butteriness, and tartness from the fruit. One of my new favorite desserts. The cappuccino was smooth and complex. They roast their own beans here, and the owner makes his own espresso blend. Clearly they know their coffee here. Pourovers seem a little pricey at $ 5-$ 6, but if they’re as good as the espresso, probably worth it. The café is clean, modern, has lots of small coversation tables on one side, and longer communal tables on the other. It seems Korean owned, and service is friendly. I would say this is one of the best coffee places in this area.

Came here tonight after hanging out with my brother. I was dead tired and needed a pick me upper to take my booty back home to Rosemead. Décor/Ambiance: Modern with a lot of tables and chairs. Great place to chat up a storm and do some studying. Service: Absolutely lovely! Justin(owner) and his barista was very friendly and recommended some wonderful drinks. I ended up getting the Kenyan pour over. Not sure if he does this to everyone, but he hooked me up with another one(Guatemalan). Drinks came out pretty fast. While he was pouring hot water on the coffee grounds, I had a great talk with him. He is very knowledgeable about coffee and also teaches people how to make coffee. I would definitely attend a class or two when he does offer them. Coffees of choice: I got the Kenyan and Guatemalan pour over. Never had Kenyan before so I decided to take the plunge and see how it tasted. The coffee was really good and was able to point out the the chocolate aroma. The guatemalan was equally as good. It also depends on your preference. Tip: Say No No No on the sugar. Drink it black! :) My overall experience was very pleasant! Justin and his helper were very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Coffee tasted great and I came home with two drinks instead of one! Would definitely come back when I’m visiting friends or family.
