Convenient Heating and Cooling

We have a multi-​unit building on chicago’s northwest side and needed a new boiler. Mike and his crew were in and working on time and on schedule. They cleaned up when they were done and we will have heat; cleaner and more efficiently than ever before. Our next HVAC project will be completed by Covenient Heating and cooling.

A handful of years back my mom had a rental building located in Niles. Street construction caused the 1950’s radiant floor heat to crack. Mike came up with a cost effective solution of adding a hydronic heating coil into the homes existing ductwork. The company preformed the work. It was neat, clean, fair priced and is still heating the place today.

When we needed a new AC, furnace, and water heater in 2010, we got many quotes from different companies. One of the main things you have to look for are whether the guys do a load calculation (Manual J) or not. If they come in and ask for sq footage then give you an estimate — you just found the lazy operators. Out of about 10 companies that we had come in for estimates, only 3 did real load calculations. Convenient Heating and Cooling was one of them. Rick A. came in and measured all the rooms, the windows, looked at the ducts, etc. Then after entering all that info into a machine, he gave us an estimate. I appreciated that they did things the correct way from the start. As for quotes, they were competitive. They were the lowest priced that did the proper calculations and were reasonably priced even among the other companies that took shortcuts. We got the proper permits for the work done and they did everything up to spec and inspection. They even tested airflow pressure after the install to make sure everything was working properly and ducts were sealed correctly. We have been very happy with our AC, furnace, and water heater. There had been one warranty repair they’ve done within the first year, but that went smoothly otherwise. Hope to have many more smooth years with our HVAC system.

I have been doing business with Convenient for over 20 years. They have always been responsive to any problems that came up. The last time they had a guy out the next morning at 7:30. In my old home, the regular maintenance that they did on the AC and furnace kept them going and in good shape. The furnace was over 20 years old when I moved and the new owners had to do nothing to it.
After I moved I called them again to service my AC and furnace. I knew they were both in bad shape and I would eventually have to replace them. However, with the Spring maintenance check of the AC it was discovered that there was a «catastrophic failure». The prior owner had put a band aid on the unit so it would work until it sold. Lucky me. Anyway, Convenient gave me a good deal and fast and efficient service. I now have a cool home for the summer.
Oh, and I almost forgot, they installed my new water heater also. All around, I think this company is one of the best.

I had my AC broken over the summer, this company showed up in the middle of the night and fixed my AC! I use them for heating as well. They are bar far the most reliable and convenient Hvac company in the north shore. I recommend this company to everyone!!! Thank you for your great service and prices. I called this company to come fix my broken heater. The guy charged me $ 99 for an inspection fee. He told me the «main operator» was broken, and wanted me to immediately agree to pay him another $ 649 to come back and fix it. I told him I’d call him back later (maybe) and hung up the phone.
I called around to other places. I contacted a guy who had fixed my brother’s heating before and had done a great job. I explained the situation to him, and found out that there was nothing in the entire industry called a «main operator.» It was actually just a gas valve, and it costs only $ 350 to fix.
Needless to say, my brother’s guy is coming to fix my heating tomorrow. The guy from this company was extremely pushy. Clearly no customer service skills, and his «main operator» diagnosis was obviously something he had just made up on the fly. Prices are absurd.
I’m definitely never calling him back. If you’re looking to get your heating/​cooling system fixed by someone knowledgeable, honest, and fairly priced, don’t waste any time dialing the number to «Convenient Heating and Cooling.» Calling themselves «convenient» is far from accurate.
