This was my first time going out in Buffalo, NY. My friends warned me that this side of town(Chippewa) wasn’t «color-friendly/racially».I didn’t pay them any attention, or maybe it was the fact that the people I was with were gay, not quite sure. I do know that the bartender, I think her name was Nicole was BEYOND rude. There are three separate bars in this club. As I went to order from one of them, the bartender completely ignored me, I shrugged it off. There is a $ 10 min and I didn’t have any cash so I took the drinks(2) on my card. When I went to close my tab, she gave me a bill for around $ 22. I told her it wasn’t my bill and she looked like she wanted to bite my head off b/c of her mistake. She assured me(not in a nice way) that the correct amount would be charged to my card. Minutes later, I receive a notice from my bank stating that I was charged for the larger am’t. I went back to tell her and do you know what she said,“What the fuck do you want me to do about it”? It’s funny b/c after speaking to the«acting supervisor»(who was more apologetic than she was) I made it point to make sure that people knew what kind of people worked there. BTW she never apologized and made it point to get in my friend’s face(who was very upset) and curse and be as unprofessional as they come. It is a physically nice club, but the people there make it look like a dump. If you are not from Buffalo, DON’T let this place ruin your experience as it did mine. Buffaloians, have fun I guess…

Let me say that I think whoever designed the place should get major props. I been to the last club that occupied this space and it looked like crap before. Now it actually looks pretty dam nice. I also like the huge smoker area in the back, which is a huge plus if you just want to get some air especially during the summer time. Also I think the bartenders are all very nice ppl and the DJ does a great job entertaining the crowd. One of the biggest things I look for(or listen for) is the music. If the music sucks then the entire party sucks, doesnt matter if the place looks really cool or whatever. Music matters! So props to the DJ. That said, I really don’t like how this place is managed. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve done parties and worked with the management and really found them difficult to work with. Manager thinks he’s the absolute boss of Buffalo when the truth is that not too many people come to your club in the first place… I’ve came here on other occasions outside of the parties I’ve thrown here(for big bar crawl events) and never had a problem really(like I said the bartenders are all nice), but I dont like the management and thats enough to keep me from coming back. I’d pick Pure over Social anyday, and I really don’t like Pure’s management either! HOWEVER, this place is designed well, has great music, and prices are average. I think this place has potential to do some real good stuff to the club scene in Buffalo and I’m probably right because they definitely lasted over a year already. If there was a good party going on here, I wouldn’t mind dropping in. But I won’t go out of my way to go to this place

NO. This review is a little late. I came here a while ago. But if it’s still run by the same people that were there when I was there. then NO. I’ll admit that the décor pretty nice for downtown Buffalo. But never have I been disrespected to such a level by the people that work there! Some of my friends threw a party here and everyone was getting kicked out left and right for the most ridiculous reasons. sometimes without reason. I too was kicked out. The reason why? Because I was wearing heels and I had my legs crossed while sitting on one of their couches. One of the bouncers came over and said to me «Get up.» I was dumbfounded… I asked him why, and he said something along the lines of «Your heels are gonna rip up the couch. who’s gonna pay for it? You are??» and proceeded to push me out the door, while I could’ve walked out myself. The ‘owner’(I’m not sure if he was the owner– so please excuse me if I am wrong) also screamed«Get off my couches!» as I was being dragged away by the bouncer. I won’t even get started on how amazingly ridiculous the whole ordeal was. Really now? My high heels are going to stab your leather couches while I’m sitting with my legs crossed(Which a lot of people normally do, they cross their legs while sitting). Really. I was not treated like a human being.

As one of the newest editions to the Buffalo/Chippewa nightlife scene, Social has a ton of potential, but definitely not living up to what it could be… yet. In the small space that it has, Social’s design and layout was done well. The décor and ambiance are on the higher end compared to its neighbors: two large, well-stocked bars, a raised dance floor, color-changing LEDs throughout the ceiling, unique(but few) VIP tables, and an outdoor area for smokers that hopefully gets converted to additional VIP tables/cabanas during the summer. The music is exactly what you’d expect on the Chip Strip, mostly top 40 dance remixes and hip hop. They do have a vast selection of beers and spirits, including unique-to-Chippewa choices like über-delicious Lindemans lambic beer from Belgium. The beers are lined up along the wall behind the bar, and unfortunately I was looked at cross-eyed when I pointed to one and said«I’ll take a lambic.» If you’re going to sell something rare, please please PLEASE train your bartenders to know the products! I already have to yell at a nightclub to order my drinks, and I don’t appreciate having to repeat and explain what I’m talking about three times. If you’ve never tried a Lindemans lambic, do yourself a favor and pick one up at Wegmans – even if you’re not a beer drinker. They’re sweet, fruit flavored, and the farthest thing from what you consider beer, while still technically being one. Get up right now and go buy one. You can come back and thank me later. Sorry, anywayyy… Social is definitely trying to bring a bit of class to the neighborhood – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but hopefully they’ll be able to woo enough Chippewa party-goers into their quarters before it’s too late. I don’t mind some room to move around, but Social has some work to do before regularly hitting capacity the way neighboring clubs do. I’d really love to come back some day soon and re-review for 4 or 5 stars.

If I had just one last night out before going to jail or joining the priesthood, I’d hit this new place. Really cool décor with interesting artwork, exposed brick, and, best of all, very attractive staff and patrons.(at least on the night I was there) Good music and reasonably priced drinks sealed the deal. I hope this place doesn’t get so popular that you have to wait to get in. Staff were attentive and completely un-pretentious, unlike many other cool, lounge type places where the waitresses look great but act like they are doing you a favor by serving you a drink. Seems to me as though this place is aiming for a slightly different crowd than the usual chippewa place. Usually chippewa attracts the kind of meatheads that are so dumb they need to buy the cliff notes for marv levy’s autobiography, but I did not see that type of cretin here. Long live Social!
