Horrible service!!! Avoid this place at all cost!!! The owner is mean, she does not honor any of her coupons or specials posted in the window. Food is ok depending on who the cook of the day is.

I really like this place. For one, they offer delivery on their entire menu which means yes – sushi delivery. Secondly, it never seems to be terribly busy inside. So it’s a perfect choice when I want something low-key without a wait or a crowd. On my last visit I had the Jack Roll for an appetizer and the Mongolian Beef for my entrée. Both were delicious and the presentation on the Mongolian Beef was beautiful. Another dish that I really like here is the Sesame Chicken which is always served with fresh, perfectly prepared broccoli. I’ve had a few things here that I was less crazy about but I suspect those were simply my own preferences.

Ehhhhh. I don’t want to write off this place as being a dud, because I’m sure there are some tasty, filling dishes. However, I wouldn’t stop in for sushi-esp. when you can get to other great Japanese restaurants within minutes of here. I dined in. I ordered 3 or 4 different vegetable rolls. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet my service was pretty blunt from beginning to end-I wasn’t expecting a complimentary massage, but a smile, perhaps? The rolls arrived at my table, looking a little like my unraveled bed in the morning. The mushroom roll, which magically turned out to be tempura, was pretty gross –only way to put it– The carrots, chunky and chewy, were busting out of the other rolls. I don’t know, man. Not impressed. Maybe I’ll try something else for takeout.

Typical Chinese food restaurant. The Chinese food is good and affordable. I personally think it’s the best Chinese food in the city. I love that they deliver quickly as well. I don’t know much about the rest of the menu but if you want good Chinese food then you can’t go wrong. We usually get wonton soup, steamed pork dumplings, pork lo mein, and general tso chicken. We have never had a bad meal. Everything is so flavorful and always cooked to perfection. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

We stop in for sushi and there is a large sign advertising 50% off sushi on Wednesday night. We think great and ask the waiter about it. He says«Yeah We dont offer that anymore». I point out that it’s in their front door. He says«Stopped doing it a few months ago». Ok then don’t have a sign offering 50% off sushi in your front doorway if you stopped offering that a few months ago. Cover it. Move it. Honor it.

It’s not the best sushi in buffalo, but as far as I know the only place that delivers sushi! Which is amazing. Had their«two roll sushi lunch special» with an extra roll on top of it for lunch. They are very filling, and very well made. I tend to order from here more often than not if given a choice between other places. Their Chinese food is also very fantastic. And their miso soup is one of my favorites. Will happily keep going here and ordering from here.

I usually get take-out from Tokyo Shanghai. The food is consistently very good. It is always ready when I pick it up and there are never any mistakes with the orders. I have eaten inside also. They have a nice dining room and the service has always been very good.

My cousin and I enjoyed Tokyo Shanghai Bistro months ago for their sushi deals, until I bought her a $ 50 gift card and they refused to let her use less than the whole gift card at once(if she spent less than $ 50 in on sitting, she would lose the whole gift certificate). So I stopped going there for a while. Gave it another try tonight, the sushi was OK, wonton soup was good. My friend got a spicy tuna roll and the tuna was ground up and mixed in with the spicy mayo– something we had never seen before and was not to her liking. We asked if she could switch it out for something else, even offering to pay for the something else if they took the tuna roll off of the bill and they would not allow it. Just another FYI: you cannot pay with a card unless your check is over $ 10. Even if it is $ 9 with some change. It is a shame! With their great deals on sushi, i would really like to be able to rate this place higher :/but the service was not the best.

I’ve had Tokyo Shanghai Bistro lots of times and I really like the sushi there. The dishes served there have been fresh and tasty. It’s never been really crowded when I’ve been there(maybe like a few other couples) so the atmosphere is usually very quite. However I appreciated the cleanliness and attentive service.

Probably the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. Mushy fish that was cut too thick. The chicken teriyaki skewer was Chinese flavor– not Japanese teriyaki. Maybe their Chinese is good but not the Japanese. Avoid it. Walk to sato or wasabi but for the love of God– do not eat the Japanese food here!!!

I have driven by this place forever and last night finally checked it out. The outside is not very welcoming, however i have heard good things from friends who enjoy it. It was a Wednesday night and like most my reviews have mentioned there is a serious language barrier. On Wednesdays from 5 – 8 it is half off rolls. We had 6 rolls(the normal standard pickings) and an edamame and our bill was under $ 24. My friend and I were seated immediately. Restaurant is clean and simply decorated. Service was mediocre. There was only one server and although she was working extremely hard she definitely needed another waitress on or at least a busboy or hostess who could help her fill waters or run food. Overall the rolls are fresh and simple and a very nice size. I will most certainly be back to try their other types of cuisine.

Decided to order Chinese food. Was in the mood. Called Shanghai Tokyo bistro because they’ve been ok before. She takes my order and says it will be an hour for delivery so I said, «ok how long for pick up?» — she says«10 mins» so I say ok I’ll come pick it up. I waited 20 mins and went over. She didn’t greet me and immediately had an attitude. I’m standing here now as she’s canceling my order. They’ve overcharged me in the past so I checked out how much it should be before I went to pick up — $ 10.70 I get there and gives me a bill for $ 13.79. I asked why she got angry. Showed me a receipt that she charged me a dollar to pay with a credit card. I said that’s crazy, really? She grabbed the receipt out of my hand and started slamming things around and then told me to sign and I to get it over, signed. Then she said the food wasn’t ready — I knew she was going to mess with it because my order was clearly sitting next to the register not in the kitchen like she said. So I said cancel my order. Angry she cancels the order and couldn’t have been more rude. hah! Last time I consider ordering from that place– they mess up every time anyways. HORRIBLE service and OVERCHARGED every time. Bad Business.

One of the better places in Buffalo. We’ve gotten thai, sushi, and a Chinese dish here, the portions are large and the food is great. It’s far better than ordering regular boring old take out chinese or buffet.

The sushi rolls are pretty standard. They taste and are compiled as described in the menu. The big reason I go here(whilst not liking it very much) is because I know with 100% certainty that we are getting a table immediately, no matter the size of our group or time of arrival. The service can be slow and inattentive yet inoffensive. Special requests don’t always get fulfilled. This has to be the only restaurant with better delivery food than dine-in food. I swear it’s like ordering from 2 different places. If you’re looking for sushi delivery, Tokyo is your answer(well… it’s your only option but even if there were competition, I’d go with Tokyo).

I live right by here so it’s easy for me to just stop on by this places to grab takeout. I think they have too much on their menu and want to cater too much to everyone that basically they just miss the mark on many items. A lot of their foods are too salty. I suggest you find the few good items you like and stick to them. For example I only eat their beef and broccoli and that’s about it. I do not trust their sushi just because I think raw fish needs to be done properly. But overall it’s a Chinese take out place basically with a lot more décor.

I’ve ordered takeout from here a few times, usually just the standard chinese fare. If I were reviewing based on my first few orders I would probably give this place three stars, as the food is decent but not mind blowing. The kind of food you expect when getting chinese takeout. This last experience was beyond terrible, resulting in my one star review. I ordered for delivery at 7:45 on a Friday. I get it. It’s a busy time and I’m fine waiting a little while to save the hassle of cooking. I ordered pad thai and the pork gyoza and the lady on the phone told me 45 minutes(after leaving me on hold for upwards of 5 minutes). An hour and fifteen minutes went by and no food. I called back and the lady told me my food was out for delivery. Half an hour later, still no food. I call back to see what the deal is and I’m told that my food will be going out soon. Half an hour ago it was already out, now it’s going out soon? I would have cancelled my order at this point by my card had already been charged and it seemed like more hassle than it was worth to try to have them charge it back. I wish now that I had asked them to do it. My food arrived one hour and fifty minutes after I ordered. The pad thai was bland beyond description. It was a lump of soggy, sticky noodles with some ground peanuts and a few small pieces of chicken. The Gyoza were OK but they arrived cold. All in all this was an awful experience and I will not be ordering from them again.

We decided to order takeout from this place since it has a combination of Chinese and japanese food. First, I’ll have to agree with everyone else who mentioned that their phone manners are just non-existent. I had called first to ask a couple of questions, it was a guy who spoke pretty good English and he was pretty polite. But when i actually called back to place the order, it sounded like an older lady who didn’t speak English as well, and she was very short and cold, although she did repeat the order to ensure accuracy, she said nothing else other than«ok bye» and hung up. There was no cost given, no estimated time for delivery, not even a thanks. Here is what we ordered: pork gyoza — it was good, and I imagine that if we actually ate at the restaurant they would be even better because they would be crispy. The flavor was good, the dough was nice and light, and the dipping sauce was great. Tokyo roll — tuna on top, with avocado and crab meat and shrimp… etc. There was something that made it sweet, i’m guessing maybe honey? It was great, as it had great flavor even without wasabi and soy sauce. I would definitely order this again. Spicy crab roll — I actually asked for spicy crunchy crab roll, and triple confirmed that they make that(they have a crunchy tuna roll). Well, the roll came without the crunchy bits(fried tempura pieces), although it was still delicious. If you’re used to the crunch spicy crab rolls from Wasabi, beware — these are much, much spicier. Beef with garlic sauce — their chinese dishes have reasonable prices, although I definitely prefer Great Wall on Elmwood. My fiancé didn’t like the beef, although that’s pretty much the same across all chinese restaurants(except P.F. Chang’s — you get what you pay for). It came with mixed vegetables including celery, mushrooms, carrots, green peppers, bamboo, water chestnut, broccoli, baby corn and snow peas… etc. I would recommend asking what kind of vegetables you get in your dish if you don’t like any of the ones above. Chicken with string beans — I ordered this and it was pretty good. Again, the quality of the chicken isn’t the best but I expected that. I really liked the sauce though, it was like a brown sauce. Chicken with cashews — My friend seemed to like her dish, no complaints there. I think it might have had celery in it as well — i’m personally not a fan of cooked celery so I’m glad I didn’t order that. My biggest complaint and perhaps the reason why i will never get chinese food from this place again is that their fried rice tasted and looked like something out of a box or the frozen isle at grocery stores. It had pieces of carrots and peas in it — EW. If you read my review for Great Wall — you’ll know that their pork fried rice is basically the BESTFRIEDRICE I’ve ever had in Buffalo. This was a huge disappointment and just really turned me off. Egg rolls came with the dinner specials and they were ok, not bad but nothing special. Another thing I didn’t like was that they charged me $ 1 for extra wasabi… sorry but i think that’s ridiculous — it’s like charging extra for ketchup or mustard in my opinion. The delivery charge was $ 2 but then there was another $ 1 charge right below it which i’m not sure what it was for — so I’m just going to attribute it to delivery. All in all, I would MAYBE order from this place again if I were dying for some sushi but am too lazy to leave the house, as it is probably the only restaurant in the area with sushi that delivers. I will definitely not order any Chinese food from here again. Oh one more thing — their fortune cookies were STALE!!! It was the first time any of us experience STALE fortune cookies. It was kind of a downer and a disappointing ending to our meal, but oh well.

I’ve gone here about three times, and I’ve only had their rolls. I remember a while ago, my friend and I were given complementary miso soup. When I went last week, my friend and I were given fried noodles with a duck sauce. Greasy, but if you like feeling guilty and fulfilled, I’d say it’s a much better option than the miso. My friend and I both ordered hot saki and the waiter told us he would get us the«big» size. It was more than enough for the two of us and we were surprised that it only cost $ 7. Usually when I go, I pick two types of rolls and my friend will pick two so we can share and have a greater variety. LETMETELLYOURIGHTNOW – If you do NOT get the White Lily special, you are seriously missing out. In fact, it’s so good, that if you go and order and don’t name your firstborn after me for giving you the suggestion, I’ll eat my shoe. It’s so good that every time I go the person I’m with WHINES that they wish they had ordered what I got. Service is okay. Sometimes they take the payment for you, sometimes they make you wait for a really long time without telling you to take your bill to the front desk. Everything else I’ve ordered there is pretty average. 5 stars for the White Lily, cheap saki, and the deliciously greasy fried noodles. 3 stars for everything else.

On an ice-cold January evening, stepping into this cozy restaurant(complete with an indoor koi pond) was an absolute treat. Warm colors and dark wood give it some real ambience. For VEGETARIANS, the menu here is a dream come true. Practically everything on the menu is available without meat – just veggies. Some are available with vegetables AND tofu. If you’re feeling adventurous, there is even«vegetarian duck,» made of shredded mushrooms stuffed in tofu and fried; a friend swears it’s delicious, so I’m going to try it one of these days. On our visit tonight, my VEGAN friend and I spilt two entrees: the coconut mushroom soup(more a meal than a soup – don’t let the name fool you) and the yellow peanut curry. Each was priced at about $ 10. We also had the agedashi tofu – a generous plate of lightly fried, melt-in-your-mouth tofu with a soy dipping sauce. Very tasty and a generous portion for $ 4.50. We also had pretty decent wines at $ 5⁄6 a glass – bargain! I was very happy with the experience and the service(although the ladies at the desk seemed a little irked we stayed to chat after our meal – even though it was a hour from closing and only two other tables were occupied). In fact, I liked it so much, I went back two nights later!

We order from Tokyo Shanghai on a regular basis. Most of the time it’s delivery, but we also dine in on a pretty regular basis. I can say that dining in the experience is slightly better than delivery, but that kind of goes without saying. Tokyo Shanghai offers what is becoming more common. An Asian fusion menu that covers sushi, Chinese, Thai, and everything in between. They do a good job of it. When ordering delivery I know that the sushi and Chinese will be on par with any other delivery restaurant in the neighborhood. The benefit of Tokyo Shanghai is that they offer so many dishes. They may not rock your socks, but they’re good and everyone gets what they want. You also get to mix it up and share if you’re going delivery.
