We anticipate your re-opening. We were very sadden to hear of the fire of one of our very favorite restaurants in Bullhead City.. Hope all is well with the staff and they are able to get by financially till you re-open. We have always loved the Black Bear and were very saddened to see it had been burned. We wish all of you the best and hope no one was hurt.

If you’re a vegetarian/vegan and you’re in the area(perhaps visiting Laughlin) then you have to make a trip to this place. I’ve been here three times already and all three times the service and food has been excellent! I typically order a scramble such as the fiesta which is amazing. Their produce taste fresh and the portions are very generous. If you’re vegan you can ask for a scramble with their red potatoes and no egg/cheese and it will taste amazing. Also, they have a Gardenburger patty, so you can get any of their burgers and substitute it with this. I wish they had Boca or Morningstar patties because I like their flavor better, but Gardenburger is better than nothing. Another plus, their orange juice is homemade. You can see it when it’s being made. The times I’ve have it, it’s been sweet and tasty. Lastly, I lovee their coffee. I normally miss my coffee when I travel because I make it with a French press – the best way to make it. However, their coffee is bold and pretty strong. I really enjoy it. I think it’s the best coffee I’ve had from any diner.

Since moving permanently to Laughlin, we have been to BBD twice. Each occasion was an excellent experience. Seated quickly, drink order taken, and food delivered quickly and hot. Michelle provided excellent service, and she said she would keep the AYCE fish flowing. I never had to ask for a refill on the fish, which was lightly breaded and nice fillets. DW ordered the Hot Turkey Plate, and they delivered a huge portion of turkey breast with plenty of gravy. Even though the parking lot was full, there was not any waiting. We will be back, and it may become our go to place for traditional cook’n. Prices are reasonable and so far large portions. Try the cole slaw, excellent. All the food items seem to be freshly prepared.

This chain of home style restaurants is one I do not mind supporting. Food is consistently good tasting with sizeable portions coupled with above average service. This location did not disappoint. We came early afternoon for a late lunch. My family was greated and seated quickly, which I like. My kids never know how to behave in restaurants for some reason they cannot sit still or sit appropriately, EVER! Tuesday was kids eat free off the kids menu which was a pleasant surprise. The server sold me on the daily special with house made parmesan chips. I’m a sucker for when someone does their job correctly. Vickie was a good server. The grilled sour dough club sounded delicious, but I was also hungry. When the sandwich was delivered I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a triple decker club and that is not what was delivered. No worries sandwich was still delicious, my imagination ran wild on what Vickie had described. My fault… not hers. The California burger sub boca patty was very tasty as well. The bun was soft and baked fresh and the burger was topped with ripe avocado, cheddar, and LTO. Kids gods grilled cheese and fries and a strawberry waffle. Both were very tasty… of course I had to sample them. I paid for it so you better believe I get to try. Black Bear Dinners are always a safe bet when searching for a good home cooked style meal. Dinner portions are always huge and the flavors taste like grandma used to make. Breakfast meals are also satisfying here so give them a try any time of the day.

We were staying in Laughlin, and were heading back to Phoenix. I don’t know if you know this or not, but Laughlin, as it turns out, is super gross. I didn’t really want any food there. So, we found our way here. We’d never been before, so we were interested to see how good it was. It was bomb. First, the food all came out fast. Like in 5 minutes or so. And this is while the place was packed. Second, the pancakes must be made with crack or something, because they were some of the best pancakes i’ve ever had. Third, Bacon. It was divine. Thick cut and tasty. Did I mention we had our food in about 5 minutes?

Where to go when your sick and tired of the casino lifestyle? Hop in your vehicle and motor on over the bridge to Bullhead City, where you will find this mom & Pop Diner Do you like Meat & Potatoes and everything in between, well you will certainly find it here. The menu is large, but believe me the quantity size in even bigger, your certainly not going to leave hungry. Friendly service and busy at all times, I chose the Chicken Fried Steak dinner, man alive was it massive, I couldn’t even finish half of it, but the meat was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy and the breading was browned just right. My Dad got the Spaghetti and Meatballs, he can pack alot away and he couldn’t even finish his plate, but he gave it his best shot. If you enjoy down home cooking, in a rural like setting then stop in today. I only wish we’d had tried the breakfast menu, as my Dad’s friend swears by the Omelets that Black Bear Makes. Come on, step away from the slot machine and venture out into the great outdoors… have a great meal at Black Bear and then head out to Oatmen, sounds like a nice day to me!

One word: Wow! The food is great and the pancakes were even better! They must be buttermilk, and not only were they fluffy the way I like em’, but they were airy too.

Not bad. We had lunch/brunch. Been wanting to try this place for a while. I opt for their chicken pot pie only because I felt like having something hearty and warm. The pot pie came out warm, not piping hot like I would’ve liked it to be. Also, some of the chicken chunks were unevenly cooked. Some chicken chunks were a bit harder than others and the peas were over cooked and not fresh. Customer service was great and we got seated quickly despite the crowd. Maybe I’ll try their breakfast next time. Should’ve gone with my «gut» feeling.

While in town this summer, i quickly searched on Unilocal for a local breakfast spot. This place is so delicious! The portions are huge and filling and have that«home– made» feel. The staff was so friendly & patient considering there were large parties waiting to be seated. Freshly squeezed orange juice was a greatvway to start my morning. We will def return while in Laughlin again! Ps. Get the bisquit and another to go! Its like none you’ve ever had

We came by here at 9:30 on a Monday morning and it was jam packed. We waited about 15 which wasn’t bad at all. Our server Jenn was very friendly and and patient and got our order out pretty fast. She was alwAys quick to refill our drinks and provided excellent service. The food was great. I had the two eggs, French toast with a side of well done hash browns… everything was perfect. Would definitely return when in the area again.

If you’re staying in Laughlin, you’ll probably come to realize there are a few things that Laughlin just doesn’t do well along the casino«strip», and that’s breakfast, brunch and craft beer(craft beer is non-existent but that’s for another review). What do you do if you want to have a decent breakfast or brunch and don’t want something from Coco’s, or IHOP? You drive your butt out of Laughlin, across the river and over to Bullhead City to stop in at Black Bear Diner. Considering the limited options in the area, I’d have to say that if you want a solid breakfast/brunch, then doing this is going to be your best bet. I came here twice(Saturday & Sunday) with 5 – 6 family members for late breakfast/brunch. Calling 30+ minutes ahead and making reservations might not have been necessary but it sure made things easy and wait-free. As soon as we showed up we were immediately seated and served water and drinks. On both days the servers we had were friendly, helpful, courteous and lively. The food is where it’s at for me though. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering breakfast options available at the hotels/casinos in Laughlin and what I’m used to in San Diego. The average plate is between $ 8-$ 10 for most of the breakfast options which is more than fair considering the portion sizes. Both times I went, I had the Corned Beef Hash which was $ 9.49 if I recall correctly. It comes with 2 eggs(your choice of how they’re cooked) and I chose the hash browns and biscuit(huge) for my sides. There was a generous amount of corned beef and hash browns in addition to the two eggs that it came with. It’s definitely a lot of food and great value for the money, even for a huge eater like myself. I also ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast which was equally outstanding and if you have a sweet tooth, it’s definitely worth getting. I only noticed a little consistency issue with the hash browns which were crisper on the first day I ordered them but not that crisp or browned on the second. Aside from that small caveat, both were excellent and I didn’t regret my choice either time. Other family members got the«Bear’s Choice» and Sweet Waffle. The waffle was extremely good and pretty large so I had to finish it for them, this probably would have been my second choice if I were to choose something else off the menu. They also offered 12oz cans of some local beer for $ 3.99 but after the late night(technically, early morning) of the previous day filled with enough of that already, I had to pass. Maybe limited food joints in the area help bump up the rating but with great service, food and prices, if I’m ever in Laughlin again, Black Bear Diner is definitely going to be my first choice for breakfast/brunch when I’m there. With that said, I’m not going to have a problem giving it 5 stars. Good luck finding something better.

My last three outings to this Black Bear Diner did not click as perfectly as the earlier visit. But all dinner experiences were enjoyable and very good overall. On one occasion Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak was taut and nicely pounded into a large heart-shaped slab of meat, but very salty. It was served with a nice and creamy Milk Gravy, which was smooth and tasty, and good cornbread. Adding to a fine meal were a Dinner Salad with Dijon Mustard Dressing, nicely cushioned O-Rings, and very good Bacon-flavored Cut Green Beans and creamy Coleslaw. On the next visit on a Fish Fry Friday, New England Clam Chowder contained very good broth, clams, and celery, but included potatoes were rather hard chunks. And, while the homemade Tartar Sauce was excellent, and golden brown, lightly breaded filets of Alaskan Pollock and skin-on Fries were very good, the cabbage in creamy Coleslaw was rather hard. I wasn’t charged for a bowl of soup because the restaurant was out of Hush Puppies. This was a good deal, with good service, and good food! And, on my most recent dining venture here, a cup of Country Vegetable Soup with carrots, corn, Green Beans, White Onion, tomato, and potatoes in a tomato-based broth was hearty and satisfying. Pecan-crusted Trout with Mashed Potatoes, Brown Gravy, and Green Beans with Bacon then fit the bill nicely, followed by a personal Grandma’s Famous Peach Cobbler made with Splenda, which was excellent. But a fly flitted about our booth. 4 stars overall for each of these visits!
