If you read Unilocal on this place you’ve probably decided to go somewhere else… Give this place a chance! Worth your time and your money. Food was good and pitchers were a fair price. Tv’s are in view practically every possible way you’d like. Good old sports bar, positive vibes all the way.

Bar tender ignored us and was rude. Waitress ignored us and when i asked if we could get service i was told this was not her section very rudely. Not a busy night would it hurt your staff to try to accomade the customers. Won’t be back!!! After about 15 minutes sitting here bar tender finally asked if we wanted anything. At this point i said forget it i will go somewhere else to eat. 6÷1÷2016

I get this place is a sports bar, but the bartender should know how to make simple cocktails. The bartender was nice, but totally botched my Manhattan. She put it in a rocks glass with an orange. I guess she doesn’t know the difference between an Old-Fashioned and a Manhattan. It’s called Sweet Vermouth, Whiskey, Bitters, and a Cherry in a cocktail glass honey. :D

I used to love this place, but gets played out. Packs with pool league and there all dicks. When someone doesn’t pay for music it just goes quiet. Some of the bar tenders are cool but not very fun. Actually bring down the mood a little.

Went twice. Once was tolerable. Second time was hostile and stupid. Never, ever going back. There’s a *vastly* better place a half-mile east.(See below, and no, I have no connection to them other than finding them pleasant and welcoming instead of hostile and incompetent.) btw, I rarely use Unilocal(so far this is my third review ever in several years) and find myself coming here only after extremely positive or negative experiences. This was really that bad. I’m staying in the Valley for a few months and had hoped I’d found what might become a go-to neighborhood sports bar. A friend of mine and I went a week ago and had a perfectly acceptable experience. We showed up, we watched a game, it was a little loud(but what bar isn’t?), and the food was a little overpriced and not particularly good, but whatever. Good enough. However. This week, we showed up Sunday morning about 11 am to watch a specific game, and we were the only ones there.(Judging from how many people have left reviews here loathing this place, in retrospect it’s no surprise I guess.) Fine by us. I figure I’ll order a pitcher of soda and settle in, maybe grab a sandwich later. All good. For about 45 minutes. Suddenly at 11:45 am on a Sunday, AC/DC starts blasting from the speakers so loudly that my friend and I had to shout to continue our conversation. WTF. It didn’t stop, either. Another patron had entered and had asked for music. LOUD music. AC/DC Bön Scott primal-screaming-like-he-knows-he’s-about-to-choke-on-his-own-vomit-which-he-did-if-you-didn’t-know-that-and-he-wants-to-be-remembered-kind-of-loud music. There was suddenly no way we could just hang out and enjoy the game. At 11:45 am on a Sunday. I asked nicely if it was possible for them to turn it down — not off, just down a little — in the room we were in – semi-separate from the bar — and the waitress said said she’d «try,» after which she did nothing. Surprised at the transparency of the lip service, I asked a second time about two minutes later. Imagine if somebody had walked in smoking a cigar, playing bagpipes, etc. — if you’re a smart pub owner, you don’t normally let one customer just walk in and drive out people who are already paying. This was about as obnoxious. I explained that the music was so loud that we couldn’t really enjoy the game or even hear ourselves talk. The waitress just acted huffy and hostile, like I was being incredibly rude just to ask to enjoy sports — in a sports bar — without being assaulted by Bön Scott’s shrieking. As a solution, she came to the room where we were trying to watch our game and cranked the volume up to eleven. Missing the point. I had to tell her three times that this was not a solution before she could hear me over the din. It was clear that this was just stupid now, so I asked for the check. Let’s just move on. That’s when the waitress tried to charge me $ 12.00 for a pitcher of diet soda that we hadn’t even had a chance to drink. Any establishment that hopes to retain customers will apologize when they themselves make your visit unpleasant. Any respectable restaurant that disrupts your meal always puts it on the house. Not this place. Never crossed their mind. When I pointed out that a pitcher of diet soda hadn’t been $ 12.00 the week before, the waitress knocked the bill down to $ 9.00(for about 50 cents of fountain soda, after all, that we couldn’t even enjoy) and acted like it was a huge favor, explaining over and over that the $ 12.00 really was right, even though she couldn’t show me on the menu. «The Customer Is Always Wrong» must be house policy. Meanwhile, the guy at the bar, who must be a regular because he gets priority over other customers even when they outnumber him, is mocking me and trying to pick a fight with me for not liking his loud music and wanting to leave. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Champs can have that one customer as long as they want him. Godspeed, Champs and you one guy. Rock on. The good news: On the sidewalk outside, I opened Google Maps, and searched for«sports bar near me.» As it happened a place we’d never tried called Hollywood Way was less than half a mile a way, a(literally) 2-minute drive east. We went there instead. That place looks kinda ratty on the outside, but inside it’s exactly what we were hoping: more staff, more screens, more and healthier food at a better price, and way friendlier. There were also 30 customers in Hollywood Way, no surprise.(It still had room for 30 more and didn’t feel crowded at all. Also, no music. Just the sound of fans cheering their games. There were two customers in Champs when we left the AC/DC party five minutes earlier. This tells you which place you want to go. Skip this joint and go up the street.

Came here on Friday evening and it was fairly empty. There was a couple playing pool, a group of 4, and a group of 2. We walked in and weren’t sure if we should sit down or wait to be seated. We stood by the door. The waitress saw us, didn’t say a word, and continued to just walk around. We started debating about whether to stay or not. The waitress made eye contact again and didn’t say anything. Honestly, it takes two seconds to say«Hey guys, grab a seat and I’ll be right with you». We ended up leaving. After a long day working all I really want to do is relax and get some good food. My level of patience for this sort of thing is low by the time Friday hits.

This is my new favorite SoCal bar. I moved from NorCal so it is hard to find a place that plays Bay Area team games. Thankfully, this place plays every team! So I can watch any football team, baseball team, basketball team, even UFC. They are very solid. I think the perks of this place to me though was their typical bar food and great service. Place is deceivingly bigger than expected too. There are flat screens everywhere so you will def be able to request the staff to make one tv selected toward your team.

Bartenders don’t pay attention! I asked the Asian bartender for bottled beer and was given beer on tap. Last time I was there I wanted an AMF, it had too much ice and didn’t taste like it should. The thin blonde waitress always looks like she rolled out of bed. She never wears a bra and it isn’t a pretty site My boyfriend bought tacos for $ 6. I expected to see some decent sized tacos. Instead he was served two of the tiniest tacos I’ve ever seen. The place is nice and spaceous. So basically its overpriced and most of the bartender s suck.

I have been coming here since I turned 21. Even though I have moved away for Burbank I still stop by when I’m in town. The wings are amazing here as are the onion rings. If you want to enjoy some beer or a stiff drink and relax with your friends or make some new ones you can do it here. No matter if there is a big game on or it is a run-of-the-mill game mid week this is your place. It does get crowded for some big games but everyone here are true sports fans. This is also one of the few places that TRUELAKINGSFANSCOMETOWATCH games. They have a lot of beers on tap and top shelf liquor. I have made countless friendships here over the years from guests to staff members. Some of the staff members even came to my wedding. This place is home.

I travel with a service dog, a small Yorkshire Terrior which stays by my side in a carrier. On several occasions previously, I have visited Champs Sports Pub with my dog — she has an official license and I carry her service card with me at all times — and it has never been a problem. Today, I was asked to leave because I had a dog. First, it is an illegal, discriminatory act to ask a person with a service dog for what ailment or disorder they need their dog. Only in the event of the dog reacting or behaving in a disruptive manner can their service validity be questioned. Again, my dog was in her carrier and made not one noise in the time I was there, yet the manager came right out with the question: «What is service is she trained for?» Secondly, there are no signs posted inside or at any of the entrances which state dogs are not allowed under any circumstances. Had there been a post and I had not been there before with my dog, I would certainly not have gone in with my service dog. Why today was any different than any other time I’ve been into Champs with my dog, I have no idea. The tone and demeanor of the manager, who asked me to leave after I’d ordered food and drink, was rude and dismissive. Although he offered to cover my meal — which he said I could finish before I had to leave — did not make up for how ridiculed and discriminated against I felt. I was with a large party who had gotten together to watch the Steelers game today. We have taken our patronage elsewhere. And I will not be back to Champs. They’ve lost my business and very likely, the business of this in my party.

Came in for the UFC fight night. There was a $ 5 cover which I didn’t mind because at BWW it’s around $ 15. There was a waitress who was very attentive and sweet. I enjoyed my night. We randomly decided to give it a try and we do not regret it. Pitcher of 805 Firestone, burgers, home fries, tvs, entertainment. Can’t get any better. I’d recommend to friends.

Went to Champs for the first time last Sunday. My fiancé and I are fans! We loved the fact that it wasn’t ridiculously crowded for a Sunday football game, but a good amount of people. We sat, of course, with all the Pittsburgh Steelers fans so I may be biased on why I like this place. Right away we were greeted by a fellow Pittsburgh fan. So we were off to a great start. I loved the burgers and fries. Service was great and prompt. Bar food done right. The mixed drinks could be better. :/I’m not a beer-drinker. Overall I know this will be a go-to spot for football. It’s very chill and laid-back, with plenty of TVs, and a good crowd!

I hate restaurant reviews that don’t talk about the food. However, my visit warrants just that. My drink came to the table with a hair the same color as my waitress who didn’t bother to pull her hair back. My food comes and there’s a hair just sitting across the fries. I tell the waitress who is understandably embarrassed. She disappeared before I could tell her not to bring it back. So when a runner from the kitchen brought it back a minute later I had to explain that 2 for 2 with my waitresses hair in my order means I’m not eating here. It’s disappointing to me as I was on a work lunch and did not eat and all of this should have been avoided if the staff just observed basic food handling protocol. So while my coworkers are eating I’m siting here writing a review.

Terrible food. Nice waitress or I’d give them 0 stars. I came here to watch my team play football and now I am just completely sad and I feel sick. I ate the Worst wings I’ve ever had in my life. They made me so lonely for every serving of wings I’ve ever had at anyplace before. I will never take good wings for granted again. They were tough, nasty, old leathery dry and worst of all very gamey. The meat tasted like old shoe. Blech! I couldn’t eat them. And I love wings! My husband ate a few after I choked a couple of them down. I was starving and really wanted to like them. Plus I didn’t want to send them back ’cause the order took so long to be served. The ranch and blue cheese dressings were just ok, but cheap and sugary from a jar. The hot sauce part was ok to good and the only reason I was able to eat a few because it hid the nasty old gaminess of the meat itself. These wings are no bargain either, almost 13 bucks for 12 of them. This is what you pay at places like Big Wangs or Barneys Beanery where they serve delicious, fresh wings with fresh, house made dressings. Not the case at this place. I get it, I’m at a sports bar, but I go to a lot of sports bars with big TVs and most of them have good food. The 1 star is for our nice waitress, I think her name was Janna. She deserves 5 stars. She was wonderful and didn’t miss a beat. She gave me extra celery so I at least had something to snack on, and extra lemons for my tea. They actually make good tea here! Wahoo! I love fresh tea. I would have gotten a beer, but they don’t have the fresh local IPAs here, just big chain beers, which is a shame cause there are a lot of yummy beers out there to be enjoyed. Please Don’t say they have Goose Island, Budweiser bought Goose Island and their beer tastes like Budweiser now. My man liked his grilled chicken sandwich though. I had a bite of it and it was pretty edible. The cole slaw he got with his sandwich was from fresh ingredients, but again, with sugary restaurant supply dressing. The other thing is that the back door slams over and over, omg, please put a rubber gasket or a piece of fabric or carpeting on it! or a hinge that allows it to close slowly? And the lights strobe with the fans. I’m sick. Boo. Never coming here again. I hope Janna gets a job at a better restaurant or wins the lottery. And I hope the owners of Champs decide to step up their culinary game. They could make a lot of money in this neighborhood if they only had great food. There isn’t any place to eat and watch a game for a mile or so in any direction. They’re missing out on Bank. We spent 32 and a tip, and I was drinking tea. Last week we spent more than twice that at Barneys Beanery because we kept ordering more of their yummy food and awesome IPAs. Think about it. Why are you in this business?

Came on a Friday night because my friends and I were in the mood to explore a new place. When we got there, there were three or four other group of friends — a total of maybe 20 other people. Right away we noticed that it isn’t a very popular spot but we still wanted to give it a try. Walked straight up to the bar, got our drinks from a friendly bartender and when to sit at a table close to the pool tables. We learned that the pool tables were 75 cents a game which I think is reasonable. But we never got a chance to play because there is only two pool tables in the whole establishment and there were two groups of people hogging them. Any who, we decided to play darts and it was $ 1 per game. Also, the music selection is left to the customers as there is a jukebox in the corner that any one can control. And while we were there we listened to oldies, country, rock, pop, hip-hop, rap and anything in between. All in all, we had 6 beers, 3 vodka and red bull and 3 vodka cranberry and we spent $ 72. Do the math and I guess you can say it was reasonably priced. We had fun. Maybe we’ll be back, maybe we won’t. Can’t really complain but if you’re looking for some where to socialize and meet new people — this probably isn’t it. If you want to hang out, have a low-key night with old friends I guess you could give this place a try.

So I come here semi regularly despite how horrible it is. The first thing is, I’ve never come here and gotten good service. Weather its me and friends after work, or a date night(hell, even by myself) it’s just awful. Unless you sit at the bar, you WILL be ignored. The quality of the food is awful which makes it hard to justify dropping $ 10 on a burger or Philly sandwich that is almost inedible. I also can’t justify paying $ 25 bucks for a six pack of bud light in the bottle but I digress. The good things about this place can be summed up easily. Good pool tables, shuffle board and dart board. The owner is also SUPER nice. Other than that I can’t honestly recommend anyone come here and over pay for a horrible experience. 2 – 5 stars. I hope it gets better but until they restaff or lower prices for a lower expectation I can’t stand by a recommendation.

I stopped in to check it out. One bartender for the bar AND restaurant! Couldn’t even get her attention. Finally I did and I asked her a couple of questions. She was very nice. I said that I could not remember where I had seen this place advertised. I merely asked if perhaps they had been on Groupon.(I have tried several establishments that I would have otherwise never found. I happen to love Groupon and Living Social) She went to ask the owner or manager, who happened to be «sitting at the bar» and she came back to say that he said«no». I heard him laughing across the bar. I asked her if they thought that was funny and she could not respond because she didn’t want me to know.(It was OBVIOUS!) I proceeded to tell her that I was wondering because I always wanted to try the place(it is right next to a music school that my 11 year old attends) and I thought that they were very disrespectful to a new customer. I then told her that with that kind of «TUDE» that I wasn’t interested in dining at a place that didn’t treat me well, right out of the gate! I don’t care how great the food is or how great the location is. If you act like a jerk you have lost any possible business from me or anyone I can tell this story to… AND I WILL! There are«SO» many other places that appreciate customers and have some tact. This apparently isn’t one of them.

For drinks and watching some sports of shooting pool or just to feel like you are far from LA, this is your spot. I love the fuzzy moon(half blue moon half cider). Food is very typical average tasting bar food. I’ve had the caesar salad and it’s pretty good! The food wait time is out of control though. I went with a large party over ten people and we ordered some apps(the basic bar stuff: mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, fries) along with three burgers and two salads. I am absolutely not exaggerating when I say the food took OVERALL an hour(I stopped looking at my phone after the hour mark). We checked in with our server Coreen(who was very sweet and brought drinks quickly) and she seemed to have no idea why it was taking so long and just seemed slammed. I found out later there was only one cook and one server staffed for the whole night. I’m imagining one guy acting as bar back, making the food, and doing another time consuming task. There’s no reason deep frying a bunch of frozen apps should take any more than 15 minutes! All that being said, go for a game and a drink if you are in Burbank but don’t show up hungry(or expect a possible crazy wait time)!!! ***UPDATE: Just spoke to the owner, Helen, who never got my message about the party(from the three times I came into the bar and the one note I left for her). She was very professional and apologized for the fact that she never got the message and was not prepared for the party.(I did receive a confirm from one of the bartenders, but turns out the owner was not informed and therefore did not staff appropriately which explains a lot about the wait time). So, if you are having a large party of over ten people, I would recommend calling and asking for Helen’s email to contact her directly. She said that is the best way to reach her so hopefully she told her bartenders that so in the future they can just pass her email to people coming in inquiring about bringing in parties. Because this is kind of our office bar spot, I think we would do a party again there as long as we had confirmation directly from Helen. If the wait wasn’t so long, this would be a great place to have 10 – 20 people for a chilled out party or after work gathering so I think we will have to give it another chance someday!

This was my fourth visit to Champs and was the worst yet. I placed my food order then proceeded to wait 40 minutes for my dinner — a cheeseburger with bacon, tomato & avocado. The burger came out with the tomato and avocado on the side, not on the burger. I also ordered a burger to go for my son. I had to wait over 30 minutes for it. I even explained to my waitress that I had to leave but that didn’t help. I am very disappointed with the length of time it took for the food to come out and with the waitress’ inattention. I’ll go back for drinks, but not for food. Champs, you blew it!

We stopped by here to celebrate a friends birthday and watch the King’s game. Nice location, super bright not your typical low lit bar. Tons of tables to sit at, lots of big screens to catch the game, a few pool tables, and a shuffle board(I think that is what it is called). Service was friendly for a bar, drinks were poured well and at a good price. Tons of street parking and they have a lot in back.

Joe and the staff at Champs are awesome! They totally took care of us when we had a surprise birthday party for my husband there. They went out of their way to make sure everything worked out as planned and even opened earlier for us. Joe even sounded excited to be able to do it! What a sweet guy! Our bartender Jojo was lovely and accommodating. The bloody Marys she made were really tasty. They were topped off with a little Guinness. I don’t know if that’s a Champs recipe or her own twist, but it was unique and worked well! And who knew that their breakfast burritos would be so delicious? We all watched the game, ate, drank and had a great time celebrating with my husband! It was a day to remember. Champs is a warm and friendly place to get together that feels very homey, down to earth and friendly. I recommend Champs to anyone looking for a good sports bar!

I just recently started coming to Champs again after a long hiatus. Watched Sunday football there today. It’s incredible. The service is great… The staff is professional yet fun. I didn’t see an employee without a smile on their face. And it was crazy busy! Luisana and Jojo were behind the bar making fabulous cocktails and the floor servers checked with the patrons often to make sure they were enjoying themselves. Everyone was having a great time(unless their team was losing:). I also went there Saturday and jeanette the bartender and Luisana the server did great jobs keeping us happy. Regarding the food, it’s typical bar grub, made fresh and served hot. I was happy to see a few breakfast items on the menu for early football games. All in all, you won’t be disappointed there. It’s the epitome of a sports bar but has the added benefit of outstanding staff. Go Eagles!
